QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 08:49 AM) Well they're going to hit 160 between them, so not sure what the debate is. Seriously, I think Flowers is going to surprise. Of course, he could put up an .825 OPS and people will be upset because he hits .230 with a zillion strikeouts, so it's pointless anyways. If he cut back on his strikeouts, people would say "how come he doesn't swing his hardest, he might hit a few more home runs!" Seriously, I can't remember the last Sox catcher who had a minor league track record like Flowers' starting for the Sox. I like him as well. His OBP will be refreshing to see in this lineup starved of it.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 08:40 AM) Got him paid, because he was not very good at pitching. He was damn good as a kid back then. But then again, he's not the most talented I've personally seen or played against even though he's the only one whose made it to the bigs (although he sucked) at this point.
-
Damn Cesar Carrillo too? He actually lived right around me on the southeast side of Chicago back in the day and I saw him play in little league. That sucks to hear.

As Gio's biggest fan on this site, this would be very disappointing if it's true. (I'm past the point of getting crushed over s*** like this as far as being a fan of a player unless it's Frank or Griffey)
-
Hopefully he doesn't lose any velocity ala Chris Beck. I remember B-Mac gained weight to help with the long season too.

I was at the game (first hockey game ever for me). Great atmosphere. Even better we won. -
Justin Upton - B.J. Upton - Jason Heyward is a very nice young, core outfield.

Was kind of bulls***ting around on YouTube. Shoutout to my boy Slavko (SoxFan1) whose doin his thing down there in Rockford interviewing players (potential future Hawks). Nice interviews with Dylan Olsen and Ben Youds from a week ago.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) Jimmy Butler is a good basketball player Really like the kid's future. Usually don't compliment young players much unless they're special or underrated by people, but I like the tools he has. Already a very good free throw shooter, excellent form on his shot (which is essential to his potential offensive upside so obviously his offensive game will grow with confidence and more minutes) great efficiency (and a low TO rate to boot), good athleticism (with a Bulls team who isn't that athletic at all minus a couple players) and is already a very good defender. (great footwork, I.Q., etc.) He might not be a star, but I believe he'll be a solid starting SF in the future.

As much as I love Ray Rice, I hate Lewis even more. Go 49ers. (Kaepernick is my boy though. Me and wite knew he was good before people knew about him, but this kid is doin work)

That was a nice win. Hossa is picking up where he left off before his concussion last season. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) Is Carlos Boozer Teo's fake girlfriend? Because dude has been unreal for like a month now. Last 10 games. 22.6 PPG 11.2 RPG 2.4 APG .582 TS%

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 13, 2013 -> 03:15 PM) ATL does not impress me at all. SF rolls them by 14 easy! Yea Seattle losing might of been the best thing for 49ers fans. I don't see Atlanta beating them.
-
I know JPN is disappointed (big Seahawks fan) but good season for Seattle. Their future is bright.

What a game. Atlanta choked, then came back to get it.

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 08:47 AM) ummmm "long in the tooth???? I gotta get out from under a rock. never heard that quote before. it's meaning?? (and yes give me a "DUH" for asking) Getting up there in age.

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Jan 1, 2013 -> 01:02 AM) I know that this isn't worth a tread of its own and it can be deleted at any time, but just wanted to note that after 9 years, I FINALLY made it to the 1000 post club. Today commemorates my 9th anniversary on Soxtalk......so I thought that I may just as well post it now. I know its no big deal.................but just somethimng that i wanted to do. Thanks to everyone at Soxtalk for passing along all of the information that you gather on all aspects of the team..................and to all of the mods who have helped me out when I had questions about some uncertainties that I was unfamilair with when posting. I also know that I am not well known or noted for posting much. I guess I really only post when I feel that I have something to say...or when there is something that i feel that I can add to the conversation. I do enjoy reading much of the info and opinions that everyone has on a daily basis from though. Anyway..... Thank you to EVERYONE for all of your input.......................all the way from new members and all the way up to the 5 and upcoming 6 figure posters. I know you very well my friend. Both pretty much started together (you beat me by a few hours.. ) PM'd a bit over the years and had certain fan clubs back in the day. I remember you joking about reaching 1,000 years ago here. You were already pretty long in the tooth to begin with. About time brother.

Never thought I'd see anyone get it. When I first started posting here, it was amazing looking at Jason's post count, but he is the top dog/leader/creator. Then when Mike started his ridiculous rise, others came to challenge at one point (qwerty, Balta, etc.) but then all of them faded. 100+ thousand posts. Me and my boy Knight both joined in January and even with our combined post counts are still way short.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 01:12 PM) And he was awful when he played. I've lost a ton of respect for you with this post. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 09:52 PM) I would give up Viciedo plus pitching to bring in CarGo. Just watch some highlights...Gold Glove defense, aggressive on the base paths, contact hitter w/ some pop. Dayan is younger and cheaper, but my goodness- this is that five tool guy that can be the next face of our franchise. Did I mention he is a lefty at bat?!? As you can tell, i'm a HUGE CarGo fan. Get creative Mr. Hahn! You might be the second biggest fan of his on this board next to J4L. (I loved CarGo when he was on my OOTP team. Such a beast for me)

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) I hopefully will be in the hospital. (My wife is due January 1st) Now that is awesome.

My girlfriend is throwing a new years eve party with my (and her) closest friends at her apartment. Should be epic.

Conference call with the PA and NHL at 11. Alot of rumors that this lockout will finally end soon. We'll see.
