  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 13, 2014 -> 08:45 PM) Wow! Bet the Penguins have a new head coach next year QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 13, 2014 -> 08:50 PM) And GM. Nice call (although not entirely shocking) boys.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ May 14, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) Do people think Shaw will actually come back or do you think he's out for playoffs? Supposedly he was seen in a walking boot a few days ago. Who knows the severity of it. He'll probably be good to go next round, just not at 100%.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 12, 2014 -> 04:53 PM) Maybe, but you wouldn't be able to trade Avi because he's coming off of injury, and Avi at least has the tools to be an average or better defensive OFer, where Viciedo is really nothing but an arm. I just hope the surgery doesn't affect him mentally on the field. I remember when it most certainly did for Quentin.
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 13, 2014 -> 12:16 AM) I hate to see Fernandez hurt. Agreed, it's a big blow to the game. He is fun to watch pitch. His velocity has dropped Erik Johnson-like in his last few starts. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 12, 2014 -> 10:27 PM) In the meantime, more changeups, less sliders, Mr. Sale please. Just sucks because the slider is Sale's most devastating pitch. As bmags said though, in a way you have to ride your guy and hope for the best. In a way, that's why I'm not too concerned about guys like Kolek (real high velocity at 18) or Rodon (real high pitch counts) to an extent.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2014 -> 12:06 AM) There's just no way you don't have Semien hitting there over Garcia. If you don't have any confidence in him, then send him to Charlotte. Period. He should've been in Charlotte as soon as Beckham (and Gillaspie to an extent) came off the DL. I don't like him at 3B either. Hopefully we see the Semien-Johnson combo at AAA. Let them both grow together and learn each others tendencies in the infield down there.
  6. Nieto was better off hitting for himself. (C'mon Robin, your acting like this team is competing this year.. ) I will agree with Hawk though. Last year down 4 runs, we would've mailed it in. These guys are stubborn.. in a good way.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:42 PM) You know me, I wanted him traded due to the rebuilding of this year (and the fact his stiff was average). Just have to hope Davidson turns it around. You and Marty were definitely in that camp. (reminds me of Eminor3rd, myself and Marty on the trade Viciedo while you can camp, although he's been pretty good so far) Was not a fan of it, but it looks like unless Davidson can turn it around (still early, and Reed for that matter), it might be one of those Santos for Molina trades that neither side benefits.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 7, 2014 -> 10:53 AM) http://mlb.si.com/2014/05/07/mike-trout-jo...d-cover-may-12/ The kiss of death.
  9. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 11, 2014 -> 07:35 PM) I bet Mel Kiper has done better than some GM's. It's tough to predict some of these guys. Some players are never good because of injuries or off the field issues. Dracula knows his s***. But like any scout, GM, etc. he's wrong more often than he is right about prospects.
  10. Great win. Toews with his 10th GWG in his playoff career with the Hawks. Most in franchise history, just turned 26 years old.
  11. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 10, 2014 -> 09:23 AM) keithlaw ‏@keithlaw 33m Speaking of pitcher health, multiple sources telling me today UNLV pitcher Erick Fedde will need TJ surgery too Good god, it's like the Death Row year for pitchers in terms of surgeries. (big leagues and prospects) Gotta feel for the kid. I guess Eminor3rd will be happy hearing this news.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 9, 2014 -> 06:32 PM) ^ This reinforces the idea to me that it'd be insane for the White Sox to pass on one of the big three arms. Agreed. In a way, I hope for Kolek, just for the fact of his upside and having a top RHP to pair with Sale (and to a lesser extent Quintana) for the foreseeable future gets me giddy.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 7, 2014 -> 08:50 PM) Jordan Guerrero continues doing good things: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K 11 K/1 BB in 8.2 IP on the year. Pretty high on this kid. (lefties with good change-ups are always nice), although I must admit I didn't think he would be this solid just yet. (had him pegged next year as a sleeper.. props to Jon on calling that out this year) Good character, great changeup and Hispanic. He's winning in my book.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 6, 2014 -> 08:30 AM) I want him to succeed if only so i can hear broadcasters say his name Hell, imagine if we draft Rodon. It's bad enough posters here call Rodon "Rondon" almost annually.
  15. QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ May 6, 2014 -> 07:54 AM) I would say it depends on Hoffman's remaining starts. They obviously liked Hoffman a lot before the injury so if he comes back and is healthy and dominant I wouldn't be stunned if they take him. I still think he's the guy. Plus I still remember bucket's post about Laumann being in love with him for a while now.
  16. Don't care what anyone says about the lack of luster between these two teams, it is always fun to rag my cubs fan coworkers about us stompin' dat ass.
  17. Heh.. Isaiah Rider and Harold Miner. Those names are blast from the past. Speaking of overhyped kids from the past, I wonder what my boy Darius Miles is up to these days.
  18. QUOTE (johndyce @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) Tool? That guy was living as large as living large can get! Big hawks jersey, wife next to him (and not pissed about the yelling), slamming beers, sitting front row behind home plate. We could only hope to live that large some day. Haha, you know that man was large when johndyce has to come out of retirement to post.
  19. Toews, Getzlaf, Brown finalists for Messier Leadership Award http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=717060&...vid=DL|NHL|home
  20. You can never go wrong with LHP.
  21. Wild win! Hawks will get extra rest.
  22. These young guys are fun to watch. (trying not to think about Avi anymore) Hope Hahn continues to add to that young talent. I'll also say I never realized how much movement Putnam has on his pitches.
  23. Semien second on the team in BBs. And I love Adam Eaton. Maybe not as much as Steve, but the love is there.
  24. Lets work on that trade value Becks!
