2010 Cubs Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) But...only an .812 OPS in May. 1.085 in April. You still just proved wite's point. A .812 OPS in a month is a great month for alot of players.

QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) Wow. This thread has degraded fast. I blame Jenks. Everyone was getting along fine until his ample duff came in and nearly blew it. Now there's arguing and fighting and people nailing each other's moms. What the hell? No idea myself.. and I didn't even catch the game. As for the whole clubhouse argument, maybe I need to pull the whole article on Don Cooper 1 on 1 to end this discussion, as I just put the thing that stuck out to me I've had on the top of my sig (the sigs change, that quote doesn't) for like 4 years now.

Sample sizes suck, but just trying to be an ass here... (same # of ABs) Castro: 6 GMs- 2/15 0 2B 2 R 0 HR 2 RBI 2 BB 5 SO 0 SB 0 CS (.133/.235/.133/.369) salary: 800K Lucy: 7 GMs- 5/15 3 2B 2 R 1 HR 2 RBI 2 BB 3 SO 1 SB 0 CS (.333/.444/.733/1.178) salary: 400K To Castro's defense though (pun kind of intended there), he has a better percentage of runners thrown out though not sure which pitchers each guy has had as I'm too lazy too look that up.

Suns just evened up the series at 2-2. Can only help Phil's decision (whether that is retirement, leaving somewhere else, etc.) if the Lakers somehow lose. Amar'e really wants to get PAID.

This team is just too inconsistent. Hopefully we can at least win this series, but very disappointing we couldn't sweep a horrid Indians team with two of their better players on the DL. Win one, lose 2, win 2 lose 3, etc.. etc..

QUOTE (danman31 @ May 25, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) I made this same mistake earlier. He has yet to allow an earned run, but has given up three total. Ah my mistake. Still pretty nice to see though.

Does the recent success of Ely and Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE (BearSox @ May 25, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) Again, this is a classic example of overrating OBP. You aren't going to walk in the winning run from second base. In fact, Swisher being too patient and looking for the walk cost him and the team a lot of important potential hits. Sure, that .350 OBP looks decent. But no matter who you are, a .200 BA isn't going to cut it over the long haul. It is virtually impossible to ever prove a point to you (or other posters who value batting average) in regards to OBP/OPS/etc over the years so I won't start now. I will say this though, I agree with you in regards to the trade.

Jimmy Ballinger (flying under the radar here) has yet to allow a run (21 IP) this season. Pretty cool to see, especially for a guy who is in an age appropriate league.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 25, 2010 -> 11:39 AM) Torres is probably worthy of a call up as a long reliever if and when the time comes. As I said in his last start, he is too good for AAA. Has nothing to prove anymore.

Nelson is making Rondo his b**** in this game. Orlando actually showing up to not get swept. Haha... and now Ray Allen is taking over.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 24, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) "Gordon > Teahen"? As lousy as Teahen is (and he is!), at least Mark is in the Major Leagues. Gordon isn't, and for good reason. He's been every bit as lousy as Teahen has been up until this point, and with plenty of sample size to prove it. Their poor performances at the Major League level to date are actually fairly similar. And that begs an interesting question: why is one of them in the minors right now, and then why is one of them the STARTING third baseman for OUR team! Please don't make me have to find a thread a month or two ago of why I presented Alex Gordon to be consistently dicked around by that organization despite putting up similar numbers to Teahen in his short career (.249-.331-.413-.744 97 OPS+ to Teahen's .267-.331-.415-.746 96 OPS+)

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 24, 2010 -> 07:11 PM) Brett Lillibridge hit another home-run today. Who would have thought he would be the Knights second best hitter consistently this year. (though Gartrell could overtake him there too)

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 24, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) Another nice stroke by Beckham. I'll take that kind of swing from him for nwo. He really has had a great day at the plate. Has hit the ball very solid. In fact.. that line out will add to the unlucky BABIP.

And Andruw Jones' numbers continue to drop. I believe it was 3-4 games ago, fangraphs had an article around this time last year when he dropped off after his hot start with Texas,
