  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) NBC ran it on its family of networks. Cool. thanks. So, my guess is the reason there is so much more support int his telethon is because it's closer to home?
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) Link Someone refresh my memory, did the networks do a telethon for the Tsunami on '04?
  3. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) Different thread, different discussion... I'll leave it there for now. Although, I'm curious as to the story. I dont know the story really at all. I mocked Hinn at a staff meeting once and one of the pastors retorted with what I told you... no details beyond that. I think t may have been a pastor who was healed, not sure.
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) Yup. /I HEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAALLLLLL you!!!!!!!!! Benny Hinn (after the people attend the workshops on what to do on stage). I know this one first hand. Actually, as odd as this my sound, one of my co-workers knows a guy who actually WAS healed.
  5. Conan Puts The Tonight Show for Sale on Craigslist
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) JJ Abrams created the show but I know what you mean. I wouldn't follow any syndicated hour spin offs. It would just ruin things. While JJ started it, my impression was that he is rarely involved with it. He's very hands off and lets Darlton do most of the work.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 11:25 AM) I don't know where to put this, it isn't party-specific. But if anyone ever wanted to know why there is such ire from the left and center about the Christian Coalition types (note: I am NOT saying the GOP, or anything like that), here is why. The Christian Broadcast Network's statement about Robertsons comments - defending him, calling him objective on the topic, and trying to say a curse is historically supported: Disgusting. These people are an insult to what Chritianity is supposed to be. Its just amazing to me, all the hate that Robertson and some of his ilk spew, are a lot like the Islamic extremists they hate. It's quacks like this that give people like me, and the people I work with, a bad name.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) Meanwhile, here's the Fox Nation article: A little more:
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) According to local press reports, it was not an official offer, but UT did ask to see if Lovie Smith would be interested in their job at a $4 million/year contract. Local reports or speculation? ProFootball Talk's article is written as a "he should consider it again" IF asked, while you phrased it as UT already asked.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) According to local press reports, it was not an official offer, but UT did ask to see if Lovie Smith would be interested in their job at a $4 million/year contract. OH please take it Lovie!!!
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) I don't think I have ever heard that before. Did that happen with Northridge, for example? I guess we're so programmed in to the "first one" or the "big one" that we don't realize that the aftershocks are that numerous. I knew there always were some, but not to that extent. That's mind boggling, actually. I agree with you. Thanks for the info Balta. That was pretty interesting stuff. I feel smarter today
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 07:19 AM) LOL at the last part of this clip... The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Mon - Thurs 11p / 10c Crazy Like a Contributor www.thedailyshow.com Daily Show Full Episodes Political Humor Health Care Crisis Did Glenn Back just read a love letter to Sarah Palin?
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 09:08 AM) Link My guess is that Conan will be banned from a competing network for 6 months to a year. That seems reasonable to me.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) The biggest issue is whether they can recreate the insanse amount of details that cause people to research obscure things (philosophy, religion, books, music, whatever) to see how it fits and to talk about it with their friends afterwards. Exactly. That is what makes LOST what it is. The problem i have is that with Star Trek, it's theoretically an infinite series. Just wark off to another solar system and you have next weeks episode with new aliens and new problems. With LOST, in many ways, you are confined to a single island's story with a finite history.
  15. I am 100% sure that if Leno was not tanking at 10... or was not employed by NBC... Conan would still have the Tonight Show. This is 100% about Leno tanking in prime time and needing to find a place for him to make their money back. All this spin about Conan failing in the rating is all spin.
  16. NBC Executive Dick Ebersol Trashes Conan: 'Astounding Failure,' 'Chicken-Hearted And Gutless'
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) Leno is a big asshole. Patton Oswalt is spot on: Letterman s a grouch, but you know where you stand with him. Leno will smile to your face, then stab you in the back.
  18. NBC-O’Brien deal may be possible by weekend
  19. Sarah Palin's List of Newspapers she reads: All of them Which Supreme Court Decisions Does She Disagree with: They Make a Lot of Decisions Her Favorite Founding Father of America: "All of them" SHe defaulted to Washington... my guess is she couldnt think of any of the others of the top of her head.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) And, here's the much expected Limbaugh one. Obama's just helping to improve his standing with the "light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country". Audio at site, check it out for yourself. Meanwhile, here's the Fox Nation article: So, I suppose if you use that logic, then turning it on it's head... Bush was trying to eliminate the "light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country" by ignoring Katrina. PS: This was meant to be a satirical comment, not an actual belief I hold.
  21. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) Mauer developed and grew. He never "bulked" up. He just developed his body and did the neccessary baseball lifts. When I hear the term "bulk up", I think of adding muscle mass and bulk, which will cause your ligaments to tighten up, therefore causing you bat speed to obviously go down. When i said bulked up, I meant what you are referring to about Mauer, not McGwire type muscles.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) This could either be awesome, or awful: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111801352...yid=14&cs=1 LOST and star trek are two VERY different types of Sci-Fi TV. Any attempt to treat them as the same is a foolish mistake.
  23. For me, it's a tie between the Rockies and the Marlins. I am kicking myself for not going to that marlins/expos(?) game at the cell a few years back.
  24. As many of you know, I graduated from Columbia College with a degree in radio broadcasting and was soon hired to be the Technology Coordinator at my church. Two months later I was married and we have one kid with another on the way. As I look into the future, i am starting to think that the career path I had set out on many years ago when i decided to major in radio broadcasting is not going to work for the future financial support of my family. So, I have decided I am going to make a shift and start moving towards a career in IT as that offers me more upward mobility, more money, and more flexibility in being able to relocate if we so choose. I am 100% self taught in computers with no formal schooling, but 3 years of experience at my current job (it's not my entire job, just part of it). My thoughts are that doing some certification classes (and the exams too) would not only help my overall knowledge, but it would look good on a resume when I decide to look for a new job. As anyone gone through the A+, Network+, or Security+ programs? If so, were they worth the time?
