  1. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) He was on Chicago Tribune Live and mentioned that the job was going to be "far from a full-time gig". So yeah, you'd have to assume it'd be more of an emeritus position. He was asked by Dave Caplin on WGN last night as to what he will do at his new job and it took him about 10 seconds of ummms and uhhhhhs to come up with his job description. If you cant tell someone what you job is within 3 seconds, it's not a real job.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 11:21 AM) I was chatting with my buddy on Saturday (while playing bball) who works in the USC athletic department. He told me that prior to accepting the bowl game for this season (against BC) USC offered the NCAA a 5 year post-season ban (which would have started this year) and a loss of scholarships. :o
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) I find it funny that Canseco got so much crap and he turns out to be right about everything. I think he got crap for 2 reasons: 1) He was a snitch and no one likes a snitch 2) He was reveling names for money (his book), so it was not viewed as a "good for the game" move... it was a for profit move.
  4. The Nationals are going to get a hell of a player QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 10:38 PM) And throw a 96 MPH fastball on top of it with the ability to play 3 positions (SS, 3B, C) Dudes got a sweet swing. and is a lefty to boot QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) And that ball didn't land yet, if not for a wall, it could have kept going. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liS3kGvQ9Bk that's sick and he still a skinny kid too. Imagine when he bulks up.
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio has reportedly been offered the USC job, but he denies it.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) About what? That was a pretty factual statement. In what world has baseball rid baseball or roids? HGH still isnt tested. Their test show to steroids because they dont test fro everything. Oh, and players are still getting suspended for roids.
  7. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) Just saw the MLB stuff on ESPN. At least he seemed sincere in his apology. He continues to lie. He only used them to recover from injuries? BS! In 1997, 1998, and 1999 he played at least 153 games. THat includes 1998 when he hit 70 homers and.... was on ANDRO!
  8. WOW! Bud is in some serious denial: Bud Selig: Steroid Use 'Virtually Nonexistent'
  9. QUOTE (The Bones @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) Patton Oswalt is spot on.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Exactly. The Wii's entire library of worthwhile games is all based on our childhood memories. I need a Wii version of Paperboy and Ken Griffey, Jr. Presents Major League Baseball and I will be in heaven.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Yeah, add to that it's probably the most popular title behind the new Mario game and I see why. BTW, i've played the Super Mario Bros Wii game, its > Mario Kart Wii. Just snag that and you'll have a blast. It's on my hit list. I played it for a minute at BestBuy... on the memories of my childhood.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) Weird that a game that old would be hard to get ahold of... A whole lotta people got Wii's for Christmas is my guess.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 02:54 PM) wow, thats crazy. i got it at the schaumburg gamestop on barrington and schaumburg road 1 month after it came out. I'd go buy it elsewhere, but I have a BestBuy gift card I want to use.
  14. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Might be true. Mass media certainly makes people want to look better. Agreed.
  15. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) That argument might be acceptable in conservative cultures but focusing on beauty is nothing new. Ancient Egyptians wore makeup and wigs. I certainly didnt mean to say that beauty has never been important. I just dont think there was as MUCH of a pressure to look good.
  16. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) I am on my way over to BestBuy in a minute to buy Mario Kart Wii. My favorite game of my childhood returns to me! So, apparently Mario Kart Wii is out of stock in the 5 stores in my area and BestBuy isnt selling it shipping it online... in store only.
  17. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Well that's based on cultural ideals of beauty. I think it's also the "look" of the era too. Many of the women posted above might not be deemed attractive because the pictures and styles are so old. But if they were alive today and those pictures were retaken in today's styles and clothing, we would probably be drooling over them all over again.
  18. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) Interesting topic, I was discussing this with friends the other day. It seems like women get hotter and hotter. IMO, today's women in general, famous and also every day women, are hotter than at any point in history.... and it's not just because of cosmetic surgery. I think part of the reason is that the culture of today is so beauty centric. We glorify those who are "hot" and mock the "nots". However, 50 or 100 years ago, women went expected to be hot, they were expected to be good house keepers who raised the children, cooked the meals, and cleaned the house.

  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Going back to the 19th century... I'd do Marie Antoinette
  24. QUOTE (SnB @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 10:12 AM) 150cc on mario kart wii is just plain ridiculous. I am on my way over to BestBuy in a minute to buy Mario Kart Wii. My favorite game of my childhood returns to me!
