  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) If you wouldn't hit that, you need to just surrender your penis and testicles for good. no way. WAY to skanky. Anne Hathaway... oh yea!
  2. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) Beckham was asked to finish the sentence of "I wish I could transform into..." and Bacon answers, "Megan Fox's bed." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/extr...omen/index.html Scroll down to see the picture with the quote. That's freaking awesome! Love the quote, but not the person who's bed it is. We've been there before, Fox is too skanky for me now days.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) They would play The Cell (schedules alternate Sox and Cubs at home anyway with only a few exceptions, and The Cell doesn't have other events to cater to), probably also sprinkle in a few games at Milwaukee or maybe even some minor league parks for the novelty of it (Cubs marketing is all about novelty). You could totally add 10,000 temporary seats out at Flyers Stadium in Schaumburg in the outfield.
  4. The Score just said in a news report that a consulting firm said Wrigley could cost..... $100 million over the next ten years to maintain. DAMN!
  5. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:43 PM) I'm curious what the monthly/yearly loan payments are for the Ricketts. That will tell you a lot as to the future of Wrigley. If it's $40 million a year, then a profit of $45 year year means you have $5 million left over. If it's $15-20 million a year, then you can put the balance in the bank and in 5-10 years, you have a nice stash to renovate with. Just answered my own question: Not much wiggle room.

  7. Palin - Critics Are Applying A 'Double Standard' To Her Decision
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) via Sullivan: She doesnt work. She never has. Remember all those days she billed the state for working from home? She had a 15% attendance record as Gov...
  9. Palin- I hate the media... any of you wanna come watch me fish?
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) So, they will rebuild Wrigley? You gotta go with the opposite of what Bruce says. Also, lets say the Cubs do rebuild wrigley in the same spot and have to play a year in the cell... wouldn't we make a good profit off of that? Wouldn't the revenue drawn into the stadium when the Cubs play come to JR and the sox? Or at least a portion of it? Or at the very least, you'd think we'd make the cubs at least pay to play there. Good question. I'd imagine the ISA might get a good chunk of that.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) Our dept. of law is so wise. she's more interested in the department of stores.
  12. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) Bruce was basically saying that there is no way they do a full re-do of Wrigley. Won't have the money to do that. The best part was Bruce saying, "In some parts of Chicago, it would be condemned, but this is Wrigley Field." I think, when you look at what they payed for the franchise, there isn't much money left over to do major work. Ironically, what happened to the Trib. THe trib isnt loosing tons of money, but they aren't making enough to break even AND pay off the loan Zell made to buy Trib Co.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) 251 to left would be pitching suicide. What about Toyota Park? Soldier field would work better. Toyota Park only has a capacity of 20,000. They'd have to find a way to almost double the capacity. The left field line would be about 230', Left Center at 265', Dead Center -400', Right of Center ~420', Right Field Line 350' Plus, here is the overlay...
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) Well, that makes some sense there. Ha. For those who are interested, this is how the Dodgers used to play baseball at the LA Coliseum. 250' down the left field line with a 42' tall screen/"wall" I believe last year, there was an exhibition game held there:
  15. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) Talking about it on ESPN 1000 right now. What are they saying? I just turned it on, but it'sa at commercial
  16. Steff started a thread in 2004 about upcoming renovations to the stadium: My Response: SuperSteve Welcomes Me Warmly:
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) Right. He's just SOOOOOO truthful. He's going to come right out and say, hell ya, I'm taking away insurance! His own administration, and HE HIMSELF say that they believe in a single payor system. And now, they are going away from that? Bulls***. Of course they are going to say that, it's the only way it will pass. They would prefer a single payer system. As would I. But when you are trying to get things done, sometimes you need to take steps. Little by little. And make compromises. I think the ultimate goal is something close to a single payer system, but you cant get there in one big leap as many would like. It's too politicaly hard to do.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 08:47 AM) Yeah he gets compared to people like Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh etc. a lot. But which one of those 3 graduated college? O'Reilly is a better comparison. Has Franken gone out of his way to fake cry on national TV because he loves his country so much he doesnt want it to go to hell?
  19. For those fearful Obama is going to jam a public option down your throat, or is it up your ass?:
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:30 AM) So, I kept wondering if maybe Palin really did just want to leave the spotlight, due to pressures on her and her family. That would certainly be plausible, as there is an awful lot of it put on her. Then I read this most recent news item. She goes on a family fishing trip... invites 4 news networks to come out with them... says she is not a quitter, she is a fighter... and then explains she quit due to the pressure and time commitments. Read for yourself. She really is all over the place, and seems clueless as usual to the realities of political life. It is said in here that things like the Letterman joke prompted her to take a break after 2.5 years as governor. She didn't this to escape the spotlight, at all. She loves the spotlight, and loves putting her family in it as well. I think she may actually believe that this won't have a negative effect on future runs for office. Seriously, she is just blissfully unaware of reality. That is a really good point. I've been saying for a while this whole "the media is mean to me" thing is total BS and a cover. She LOVES to be in the light. She absolutely sucked up up during the election. Hence the "diva" mentality many in the McCain camp where labeling her as. And after the election, she was shoving herself and her teenage daughter into the press as often as possible. I, for one, am looking forward to the "tell all" book Levi Johnson is apparently going to be writing. He may be a total douche, but there will be some hard truths in there.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:21 AM) Have you ever read a single post from kapkomet? I try not to. What I was really trying to say was that people have this theory that Obama is perceived to be doing bad by the right because he is pushing ideas that got him elected. Just because he is trying to push health care and economic reform does men is is "f***ing up" in the overall public perception.
  22. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 08:55 AM) Well, he's on his way to "royally f***ing up" right now, but with that said, the Republicans have nothing - which is pathetic. How is he on his way?
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:59 AM) That would't be wise, that would be business suicide. The Cubs are as successful as they are, in great part, because of Wrigley. The wise thing to do would be to rebuild Wrigley in the same place, and have it be much like the old one in overall appearance (but with improvements obviously to certain areas). Basically, what the Yankees did. They would have one rough season where they'd have to play at The Cell, but, that is a small price to pay for continued financial success. If the Cubs moved to a ball mall in the suburbs, their fan draw would take a serious hit. No way they do that. I've been saying this for a while. The parking sucks at Wrigley, but deal with it. but the ballpark needs to be gutted. Leave the exterier as it is, but completely re-work the inside. This is a link to a Google Sketch-up Model someone created and I think it is spot on as to what needs to be done. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 08:36 AM) They could even play at Soldier Field if playing at the Cell is too big a deal. That would probably sell really well given the neatness of it. Plus, you could REALLY pack em in for Cubs/Sox lol. As for playing at soldier, it wont happen. That field cant hold a baseball diamond logistically. One of the foul lines will be around 180 ft unless they took out seats which I dont think they would be willing to do. Below is a very rough overlay I did of Wrigley on top of Soldier field....
  24. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) The Cubs would be wise to build a new stadium, maybe out in the suburbs. They would probably be able to draw in a lot more money with parking, and make the stadium overall less of a s*** hole. Plus, they won't have to worry about the stadium collapsing and killing thousands of people. That will never happen... at least not anytime in the near future. The Cubs single greatest asset is the beer garden in the middle of beer town. It's a bar, not a stadium. A place where you can go, watch a game, get drunk, and check out hot scantily clad chicks. I ballpark out in Schaumburg or Arlington Heights turns the home field of the cubs into just another ballpark.
  25. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) If you won a net amount of about 30 million after taxes and fees, what would you do? 1) I would pay off the mortgage on my parents house and my and my wife's college loans. 2) Donate $5-8 million to my church. They have a roughly $3 million mortgage that they are having a hard time paying off and the principal at the school really wants/needs a new gym. They can stick the balance in a fund that pays out $100,000 each year until it is depleted. 3) Buy about 100 acres of land in Iowa near where my wife grew up. Convert 10 acres into my personal property and rent out the rest for farming. 4) Start a business... probably a restaurant. 5) Put $200,000 into an education fund for my child(ren). The balanced not used for college can go towards their first house. 6) Buy an RV and travel America in my free time. I should have about $15-20 million left over at this point. Just use that to live off of. But not more than $100,000 a year. Upon the the death of myself and my wife, the balance gets donated to a charity.
