Ron Paul Is Sole Dissenter From House Resolution Supporting Iranian Protests I, for one, agree with Paul on this.

This is great, Fox News, and Karl Rove, grumbling that a news agency (ABC) is being given close access to the president. Ya know, cause Fox NEVER got special treatment or talking points.

Mike North/Webio/FBI troubles
HuskyCaucasian replied to Kyyle23's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) Apparently, he knew this guy since 1996, and he claims he did a background search on Hernandez through Google, which, according to him, uncovered nothing. Hopefully, for his sake, just incompetent. If I were him, I'd stop talking. Whether he knew what was going on or not, he was the GM, his wife the COO, and his buddy (Schwartz) was also involved in the business. They were probably just ill-informed, but they were pushing bad money, and selling advertising for a ponzi scheme. How could he not have known Hernandez's past problems? -
oh good lord

Very Cool: There's an interesting effort via Twitter's #iranelection feed to provide in-country bloggers, tweeters, etc. with Internet proxies, as the government works to cut the outflow of unofficial information via existing IP addresses.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 08:48 AM) So watching his Republic spiral out of control, Khamenei has apparently ordered a vote probe. From HuffPo Live Blog: QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 08:48 AM) Also documents appear to have leaked out of the interior ministry showing that Achmadenijad finished third, not first. :o :o

So, the EU is accepting the Ahmadinejad win. What a bunch of dopes. But I am proud to say the fatherladn... Germany... is not accepting it. The White House has no official position, but I have a feeling they dont accept it as legit, but need to find a way to play this out without causing more trouble.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) The whole thing just sucks, because prior to that, IRAN idolized the US and wanted to be a secular democracy just like us. And had we not made that series of mistakes, they probably would be. 1) Corrected that for ya 2) Once again, it goes to show my belief that the more we mess with the middle east, the more we make it worse.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) The dictatorship brought on revolution in the form of radical religious fundamentalism. which seems to have fed back into a weird hybrid of "Democracy" and dictatorship

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 03:56 PM) It already happened once, 30 years ago... just saying I'm not really up to snuff on Iranian history. I suppose i should in a hurry now. lol

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) I doubt it comes to a civil war, but we were talking about that at work. A co-worker said that if Ahmadinejad "won" she thought there would be a revolution. I don't see it though but then again I don't really study Iran that closely either. It will be a long, bloody uphill fight. When you have, basically, a dictatorish regime with complete control of all media and armed forces, good luck!

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) I don't like people dying, but f*** yeah, go Iranians There is hope when there is civil unrest. At least they arent laying down and just taking it. Are we on our way to some sort of a civil war?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 07:14 PM) He doesn't have the power to do that, silly. but I am sure his allies in government do. And it seems pretty clear to me, they really like him as the leader. So, connect the dots. In theory, Hugo Chavez didnt have the power either, until he did.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) Sorry but, "Where will he play?" CQ and Holliday would probably be the Leftfielder and Rightfielder, which ever Ozzie felt would be pest at the positions. OR you could have the alternate between LF and DH (I believe Thome is gone after this season) QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 06:31 PM) He would be a nice free agent to sign in the off season, but Boras kinda kills that. I have always thought the Sox should go after him this offseason.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) Didn't Letterman already apologize? Palin called anyone who believes the apology "naive".
