I thought "the missing link" we were looking for was between aps and neanderthals. or neanderthals and homosapian.

HA! Thumbs up for the Wedding Crashers pic

This is why sometimes I just keep my mouth shut and dont even bother to argue. Fro my pastor: no middle ground.

Just for a little light hearted humor:

I debated where to put this, but I guess this is good as anything. It's JJ Abrams from 2007 at the TED conference. Really cool insight into how he thinks.

oh man, went to see Star Trek on Friday, had to pee nearly the entire movie but I refused to leave. I didnt want to miss a minute.

The ironic part... my church's senior staff is reading a book, "unchristian", that is based on studies showing how most "unchurched" people view the Christians as intolerant and hateful.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 19, 2009 -> 07:58 AM) Yeah that really really really wasn't the point of his speech. Maybe they should take a cue from him though - I didn't see them protesting anything else. They just shout about one issue, and loudly. Ok, so I need to vent a little. The link i posted was posted on Facebook by my pastor. I wronte a comment saying basically what i said here that the title of the link and to an extent, the video was a gross misrepresentation of what Obama said. Then this was posted by someone I know: I think it's pretty obvious most of it is sarcasm. But the part I bolded is what really gets me. There ARE things we can work on together. Push adoption. Abstinence. Contraception. These are things we can work on together!

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 19, 2009 -> 07:59 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/05/19/bor...lity/index.html I am so f'in tired of the 30 second soundbite mentality of not only politicians, but of the media. Like the article said, some issues cant be summed up in 2 sentences. Some issues, cant be dealt with in a 30 second soundbite that fits nicely into a newscast so they can move on to the next topic about some 13 year old being shot. On thing I LOVE about Obama, is he challenges you to engage in a debate. Engage a topic. He'll have his little soundbits, but he goes out of his way to try any talk about the complex issue rather than say "you're either with us, or against us" which is a nice soundbite, but HORRIBLE politics.

The RNC's YouTube description of the video: "On Fox and Friends RNC Chairman Michael Steele talks about building bridges to help expand the party." So, by telling moderates to come in, sit-down, and shut up is building bridges?

I love when people either ignore 90% of a speech or didnt really listen to it to begin with: CitizenLink: Obama Calls on Pro-Lifers to Ease Up Apparently they forgot to hear the part where he said "the fact is that at some level, the views of the two camps are irreconcilable. Each side will continue to make its case to the public with passion and conviction. But surely we can do so without reducing those with differing views to caricature." Not exactly telling them to ease up. More like, lets try and not shun each other, lets find things we CAN work together on. sheesh! And this coming from a Pro-Lifer.

Ok, confession time... I had NO idea there was a war in Sri Lanka

Rumsfeld Quoted Bible on War Briefings
HuskyCaucasian replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in The Filibuster
I think the point being missed here, and the reason I posed this is that when you do stuff like this, you run the risk of making it seem like it's a holy war or a crusade. Especially if it were ever seen by the enemy who already believe it's some sort of a Islam extermination war. It's a great recruiting tool for terrorists. It's not the religion, it could have been Jewish or ancient Egyptian for all i care. It's the fallout from it. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 17, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) And why do we hate them? exactly. -
Odd source, but this is from GQ- And we wonder why the middle east hates us.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 16, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) Hence why the notion that we're the only life out there is absurd. The Catholic church publicly stated that it's entirely possible and likely there is extraterrestrial life. That should say a lot.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) And I'm sure that whatever is out there...resistance to it will be futile.

Anyone with experience starting up a website?
HuskyCaucasian replied to Jenksismyhero's topic in SLaM
I would HIGHLY recommend the use of a Content Mangement System like Wordpress, Drupal, or Joomla. I manage a Drupal site and my personal site is Wordpress. Wordpress is the easiest and fastest to deploy, but Drupal scales a little better. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 15, 2009 -> 09:04 AM) LOL, not sure if anyone saw this, but apparently the IRS put a $12,000 tax lien on Mr. Stroger. He claims it was a tax bill too big for him to handle all at once, and that it was taken from a deferred compensation of some type. The family made over $250,000 last year.
