  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 4, 2009 -> 12:59 PM) I think sticking Bosh next to Noah would be awesome. yea. For next year, I really like this lineup (assuming we can swing a trade for Bosh) PG - Rose SG - Salmons SF - Deng PF/C - Noah C/PF - Bosh
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 4, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) I hate religious zealots. As many of you know, i work for a church and our senior staff is reading a book called "Unchristian". It's basically a book written based on polls done of those outside the church going community. It's how people view Christians, Christianity, and the church. One thing we talked about last week is how these zealots, televangelists, and "crazy right" preachers (like Hagee and Dobson) really give Christianity a bad name.
  3. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 4, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) What is your position on drilling off shore than? You cant be 100% sustainable simply by drilling off-shore and I believe our long term best interests are alternative fuel sources. So, I am against it.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2009 -> 10:28 AM) OK. So let's say you are right on that... how does that send jobs overseas? I suck at making a clear argument. lol Ok, let me try this over. The argument by the right is that tax breaks = more jobs, which then means a stronger economy. However, companies are given tax breaks, then they use that money to outsource overseas... or they are even so bold as to not use the money at all, they pocket it and simply fire their US works in favor of cheap Indian labor (as happened to my wife's uncle at United). So, what's the points of these "trickle-down" tax breaks, if all they do is trickle overseas and do NOTHING hear. I think that is the lefts argument. IMO, companies are more worried about the bottom line (MASSIVE profits) and therefore a soaring stock than hiring American workers. While cheap is better for the bottom line, it ISNT best for the US economy... as we've seen with entire cities crumbling as jobs get moved to India.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) Well, the "within their company" part is off to me. What you are describing isn't trickle down - its just lower business taxes. And there, you are right, the lower they are, the more jobs will stay at home. See, and this is where I say the system is broken. I fear, too often, those tax breaks DONT equal new jobs. They just equal larger exec pay, high company profits (stuck into a bank.. or offshore tax free account), and better stock prices, with little benefit to the "working man".
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2009 -> 10:15 AM) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incorporation_(Bill_of_Rights) The 9th Circuit just recently held that the 2nd Amendment is incorporated. First time any court has found that. can you translate into plain English? Legal mumbo-jumbo confuses me. I work better with examples.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) I am not sure you understand the concept of trickle-down economics. The idea is that tax cuts for the wealthy will put more money into the economy, which helps all income brackets. I'm not sure how you are making the stretch from there to overseas jobs. The idea,as I understood it, is to cut taxes on the rich, allow them to spend more money within their company, which then trickles down to jobs for the lower brackets. Am I miss understanding this? If my understanding is correct, then when you start outsourcing and shipping jobs overseas, you are now longer trickles down jobs to lower brackets int he US. And then the system is broke. Am I making sense.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2009 -> 10:10 AM) You are a self-proclaimed social conservative, and you support the idea of trickle-down economics. That would pretty clearly make you a Republican. How did you end up being an Obamaton? I dont necessary support trickle-down... in fact, i tend to think it doesnt work because of corporate greed. I am saying that under ideal conditions, it CAN work, but not right now because of how our economy is structured with overseas jobs and outsourcing.
  9. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 4, 2009 -> 09:56 AM) I agree. My belief, is that in a "America First" economy, trickle down economics really CAN work because you have people to pay. The problem with the economy as it stands, we pay for goods, the money goes to the company, they send that money to cheap labor overseas. It's a broken system. If we can keep jobs HERE, we all thrive. Money gets into an internal loop.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2009 -> 08:43 AM) More reasons for companies to leave the US, great timing. I'd find a way to put a tariff on imported goods made by companies that leave the US. Find a way to lock them in. I'm probably in the minority that I believe in "America First". We should be a self sustaining country and not have to rely on goods brought in from over seas. Or at lease as self-sustaining as possible.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:01 AM) I mentioned this in the Economy thread, but, I suppose a new thread will do. oops. my bad.
  12. Looks like Pax is going to be promoted out of the GM position. Heard that on the drive to work today.
  13. AL Central... a whole lota average
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 3, 2009 -> 09:22 AM) I'd rather they start playing the Super Bowl in actual football cities, in actual football weather, instead of this wimpy Florida/California crap. :notworthy
  15. Any one else feel good to see Rondo hit the floor hard on back to back plays? I smiled... then laughed wen he just laid there to milk it.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) It's not Ben's fault though! Ben Gordon is good at what he does...he's a spot shooter who can drive sometimes. When you are playing NBA playoff basketball, the small things add up to big things. Yes he scored a lot, but his immature "I'm the hero" attitude doesnt work if you want to be champions. YOu can be the hero, if you can be consistent with it... ie Jordon, Lebron, Kobe. With all do respect to BG, he is not in that class. Running down the court and jacking up a 3 when you had PLENTY of time to slow down and set up a play sets you down the wrong path. He does this ALL the time. it shows a lack of basketball maturity. He's NEVER learned... and he never will.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:17 PM) It's time to trade him. If you're in a series like this and you're going to bench him for the 2nd half in every game regardless of how it goes, then there's no reason to keep him. Please somehow move him in a deal for Bosh. I'm so sick of seeing him on the bench for us while we lose games because of the small lineup. Tyrus and a sign and trade Gordon for Bosh... tomorrow...ok, after the finals.
  18. So, whenever we got it close, Gordon takes a crazy ill-advised shot, Boston would then build up their lead again. Ben, you are good, but you havent learned... and you never will. You always want t be the hero and never learned to be patient. You never learned. Good luck with some other team next year.
  19. QUOTE (Tmar @ May 2, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) Ouch, not a single response. I read it and wasnt really sure what to make of it. i guess I need time to sit and really read and think.
  20. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ May 1, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) Jason Williams -- White Chocolate -- that guy is a whigger. oh absolutely. and is it PC to say whigger? Just curious. Havent heard that term in 10 years.
  21. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 1, 2009 -> 06:23 PM) Bulls/Celtics was the most watched first round game ever, seen by 5.35 million viewers. The previous best was 4.97 Suns/Lakers :o
