QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) Chicago Public Schools are adding basic financial literacy to the curriculum. http://www.suntimes.com/news/cityhall/1537...-042109.article So badly needed. i took one course in HS that taught finance... and I didnt think it was a good course.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) I think that might actually kill the party. No hyperbole. and some... including myself... think that may actually be the healthiest thing for the GOP. It really needs to breakup and restructure. Unfortunately, that could take 10+ years to build up another strong party and I'm not sure a one party america is the best option.

I'm not trying to GOP bash here, just found this interesting and worth discussion. Apparently many in the GOP are trying to subtly strip Steele of his power and work around his authority as a leader. Washington Times-

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) Phil Jackson would never, I repeat NEVER have called a last shot for Bill Wennington. He called one for Kerr... a shooter, because he knew everyone would condense upon M-Jeff. (this is the smart thing to do) I actually thought the play was brilliant and almost worked. I;ll take a Miller open lane drive over a Gordon off-balance crazy shot anyday. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 10:34 AM) And Ben Gordon. Ugh. I love the shots he hits, but the 10 he misses drive me nuts. I hope that in the next few years Rose somehow steals just a little bit of that "I have to take every shot in the game" mentality. I trust Gordon to hit a jump shot over Rose, but I trust Rose to be able to drive and hit a runner to win a game (which unfortunately he can't do without the ball). Oh, i think he DOES have that mentality. But when you have BG on the floor in a clutch situation, Rose wont get the ball. BG will hog it for all the glory. -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 10:23 AM) Those photos piss me off. Yelling in his suit. f***ing pathetic. The Bulls have better self-control than i do. At some point, on an inbounds play, I'd have probably turned around and chucked a ball at his face. -

Anyone else notice the evil stare Rose gave Gordon after Gordon's off balance jumper to end regulation? Basically a, "you know you were supposed to get me the ball, but you wanted to be the hero" look. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 08:18 PM) nope, she had her unamerican hunt in October. She then saw an influx of rival donations that nearly put the other candidate in office, but he lost by a few points. She'll be vulnerable though. oh yes. i forgot when that unamerican thing happened. you are giht. but it showed that she almost talked herself out of the seat with ONE statement. Not the DNC has a whole book to throw at her... and it's only been 6 months.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) She just did though. she wasnt talking crazy like this though. She went crazy after she as re-elected.

QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) Don't cell phones have 911? Stop. Threadjack. I have a 708 area code cell phone but live in New York. What happens if I call 911? I think the E911 is location based. So, it figures out what cell tower your cell is communicating with and that is your location.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) Wow. Bachmann. And the last time it happened was 1976. The Ford administration. yea, she's absolutely ape-s*** crazy. She wont get re-elected.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) I'm not a pathologist, or any "ologist,"" but I've been led to believe the reason the Mexican strain has killed nearly 150 is because, well, Mexico is a s***hole. The conditions these people live in can't possibly be one of cleanliness. And even if there is some Mexican strain that is stronger than the one we've seen, several thousand are infected (that we know of) and only a hundred (again, that we know of) have died. Yes, over a large population that is a lot of infected; but it's not like the Bubonic Plague where a 1/3 of Europe vanished. I think that's a good assessment. it's about the availability of healthcare. If you exposed 1 million people to a disease in India, and 1 million in America, a lot more will die in India because of the availability, or lack there of, of healthcare.

Michael Steele doing a lot of trash talkin. Wow... this is the head of the RNC. And people wonder why i lean Dem. Such a dignified response.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) Link and lets compare that to the Democrats at the time. With the exception of Lieberman, who is a weird cookie in his own regards, you dont hear people shouting for the expulsion of moderate dems at the moment. Yes there is butting of heads, but I dont think you hear the cry to oust Evan Bayh.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) That kinda goes the other way too... The Dems who just a year ago were screaming about the debt and the deficit are now supporting trillion dollar deficits are far as the eye can see. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) One could certainly argue that the economic conditions have changed from the period about 1.5 years ago. And there is actually a PLAN to move forward and cut the deficit. It's short term hurt, for long term gain.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Most True Republicans are happy to see this RINO gone. He represents what's wrong with the GOP in their minds. That's the inherent problem with the GOP right now. Complete isolationism. If you dont 100% walk the party line, then we dont want you. This was the argument I put forward in the GOP Rally the Base thread I stated a while back. I think the more you try and narrow the funnel, the harder it is for you to be a viable political party. might as well just blow the whole thing up and start two new parties. This is really a debate for that thread, not this one. but you get my point. I'd happy call myself a republican if they would open up their umbrella beyond strict "Christan" values and analy-conservative fiscal and governmental size policy.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 12:31 PM) I think it's laughable that you try and claim you are an independent. I am an independent. The GOP (Excuse me, the Limbaugh Party) is laughable and a joke right now. I find it hard to support them. Plus, I support many of Obama's policies, which this move will help.
