  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) I didn't know I could dislike this woman any more than I already did. Palin: God Will Do The Right Thing On Election Day The full quote: “To me, (McCain's sinking Poll numbers) motivates us, makes us work that much harder...And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.” Ok, so I'm kinda willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. While she MAY have been implying her and John are God's choice, i'd need to hear the audio to know for sure (voice inflection). I say that because, while I support Obama, when I do pray about the election (not all that often), I always say something to the effect of "may the person whom you feel is the right choice for America win... but I'd prefer Obama". I was raised to believe that you ask God's will be done, not yours.
  2. New Poll: Obama +2 in VA It doesnt seem liek a lot, but here is why this is important. The NBC/Mason-Dixon poll from October 1st is the ONLY poll that didnt show Obama with a lead in VA. Every other poll this month has shown Obama up at least 2. Then it was McCain +3, now it has turned to Obama +2.
  3. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 07:41 AM) what the hell?
  4. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) here's the problem, it might violate McCain-Feingold SEC. 313. USE OF CONTRIBUTED AMOUNTS FOR CERTAIN PURPOSES. (a) PERMITTED USES- ... (b ) PROHIBITED USE- (1) IN GENERAL- A contribution or donation described in subsection (a) shall not be converted by any person to personal use. 5. QUOTE (Soxy @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 09:12 AM) I don't read those threads. I read this one. And yeah, it's sexist. I don't like the woman. I think she's dangerous, unqualified, and, well, you all know. But I can't stand sexist jokes about her. There are plenty of other jokes to be made. Now if it was a sophisticated joke about the Republican party about how they nominated a totally unqualified candidate, and suddenly awoke to their "nakedness" in her nomination, then, yeah, I would laugh. my apologies if I offended you. It was just meant as a stupid little joke. When I read "new clothes" it was the first thing that popped into my head. Probably because I head a reference to the emperors new cloths a few days ago.
  6. QUOTE (Soxy @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 09:05 AM) Would someone make such a crude sexual joke about a male candidate? It's the same as the age jokes about McCain. There are so many other options. Why go for that one? HOw many times are there threads about "hot chicks" or a "hot chick contest" or someone says "damn. I'd do her"? A LOT. I make a comment about Palin and "OMG! HOW SEXIST!"
  7. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 08:19 AM) Oh, man. This might meant Gov. Palin's new clothes will have to come from Kohl's instead of Saks. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/20...wait-until.html ps. Hope she knows that the $150,000 wardrobe is taxable! here's the problem, it might violate McCain-Feingold SEC. 8. hmmm.... now that's an interesting take. I kinda like it. I have no desire to buy it, but I liek the idea.
  9. QUOTE (Soxy @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 08:23 AM) Really, no comment. I just wanted you to read that again. it's just a joke
  10. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 08:19 AM) Oh, man. This might meant Gov. Palin's new clothes will have to come from Kohl's instead of Saks. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/20...wait-until.html can we give her the emperors new clothes?
  11. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 08:04 AM) http://www.esquire.com/features/esquire-en...=enl&kw=ist Lieberman, Murtha, Cornyn, Jeffers, they are all there. Lieberman will lose his re-election next time around.
  12. Hamas endorsed Obama... now Al-Qaida endorses McCain
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 07:50 AM) No she was the one who was going to run the "cleanest" Congress in history and work in a "bipartisian" manner. I never believed her for a minute. When I heard she was going to be the speaker I just shook my head.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 07:45 AM) Again, this issue happened at the Congressional level with Nancy Pelosi flying her family in pretty regularly from California for no "official" reason. It wasn't even a gray area then. It was allowed. Is Pelosi the "maverick" who is going to reform government and cut wasteful spending?
  15. I thought about a new thread on this, but decided not to. Mods, fell free to break this into a new thread if you feel necessary. NYT To Publish Explosive Story On McCain Camp Angst (bits and pieces below)
  16. I heard this on WGN about a week ago. My first thought was "damn, that's creative. He kinda deserves the money for creativity." Obviously I dont condone bank robbery, but that's creative.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Grant Park has been confirmed for November 4th. Details to come in the next few days. I'd consider going, but only if they had CNN or MSNBC on a big screen TV. I love watching the drama as results come in. I'm not sure it would be as fun in a park filled with people just chatting.
  18. wow. Just saw on MSNBC that during an Obama rally, the crowd started to boo McCain and he stopped them. Told them "we don't need that. just vote" Compare that to McCain/Palin which seems to openly endorse booing and hatred.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) Obama went to his house? I thought they met at a rally or something. Last week Obama went door to door in parts of Ohio. Ya know... actually meeting with voters. Something McCain loves to say that Obama doesnt do.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 08:24 AM) "he didn't ask to be famous" oh ya know... by say... using him in an ad? He may not have wanted to be famous, but the McCain campaign sure did a good job of making sue he was. If he hadn't been mentioned in the debate by McCain and the used in an ad, he'd have been a one day story.
  21. Criticize McCain... Get Kicked off the Plane.
  22. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) This makes absolutely no sense. Right now Obama has about 252 "safe" electoral votes if you take this report seriously about CO, NM and IA and give up PA. Assuming ND, MT and GA are all still very solid McCain states (and recent polls do not back this up at all) you would have McCain at 158; if he actually wins PA he has 179. For arguments sake I'll say McCain wins PA, even though he probably has the same chance there as he does in CA or IL. OK so now you have Obama: 252 and McCain: 179 with 107 tossups spread amongst 8 states. Let's say Obama wins VA, which now appears likely, he will stand at 265 meaning if he wins any of the remaining 7 toss up states the election is his. Or if Obama wins OH or FL (which are definitely closer than VA btw) he wins the election outright then and there. This is a last-ditch move and the electoral map would have to do something absolutely crazy in order for it to work. Based on all the poll si have seen, PA is WAY WAY out of the reach of McCain. The only way I can see McCain even getting in the ballpark of wining PA is going flat out nuclear on Obama. They'd have to paint him as the super scary black dude who is a secret Muslim that wants to destory America. Not just imply it liek they have been doing, they have to flat out say it. And even then, it's far more likely to REALLY backfire on McCain. CNN seems to think McCain will still run adds in CO. Leaving IA, NM, and CO would really strike me more as a silent surrender move. It seems like he knows it's over and he'll go down fighting on the off chance something shocking comes out about Obama.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) Obama cancels thursday and friday campaign appearances to be by his grandmothers side. It is said she's taken a turn for the worse. Thoughts go out to the family. prayers go out to you Barack.
