Going... going.... GONE!

I'm curious what your areas are like. I am in Schaumburg and I just heard that all the major roads in Schaumburg are shut down due to flooding. I am supposed to be running sound for a wedding, but the groom is stuck where he is. Cant find a road to get here. Not good.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 13, 2008 -> 02:20 PM) Like the McCain Campaign, maybe he expects Governor Palin to be treated with deference, because anything else is obviously just blatant sexism. It's the POW/Sexism Defense Shield. Seems to be weakening a bit, but still holding strong.

McCain-Palin Rally Numbers Deliberately Overestimated

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 13, 2008 -> 10:06 AM) You are of course assuming that SHE started the practice of charging for them. Actually, if I can find the link, there is a document that shows she actually signed off on continuing it. Link

Sensing, perhaps, a turn in the media against McCain's stunts, Obama spokesman Bill Burton puts out a scorching statement: “We will take no lectures from John McCain who is cynically running the sleaziest and least honorable campaign in modern Presidential campaign history. His discredited ads with disgusting lies are running all over the country today. He runs a campaign not worthy of the office he is seeking,” said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 11:31 AM) dumbass. One of these days, a reporter covering a hurricane is going to get decapitated by a flying metal sign and the media will go "oh crap. this is dangerous. we shouldn't have people out there".

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) That committee is composed of 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats. The crossover vote? The Republican state senator from Wasilla. Because he knows all the crap that surrounds Palin and the fraud she is.

Sometimes you let your friends do the dirty work: "Doesn't McCain want our children to protect ourselves from sex offenders?"

Woopie really put him in his place when she asked if she should be worried about being a slave again. The point being that over time, the interpretation of the constitution needs to change.

From the republican play book: If you say it over and over as fact, it must be true... even if proven false. McCain Falsely Claims Palin Never Requested Earmarks

That's rough:

This is just disgusting: Via Factcheck.org: The new McCain-Palin ad "Lashing Out" begins like an earlier ad we criticized, with its reference to Barack Obama's celebrity, but then goes down new paths of deception. It takes quotes from news organizations and uses them out of context in an effort to portray Obama and his running mate, Joe Biden, as unfairly attacking Sarah Palin and making sexist remarks. We've long been a critic of candidates (Obama included) usurping the credibility of independent news organizations and peddling false quotes, and this ad is particularly egregious. We found it airing in Denver, as recorded by the Campaign Media Analysis Group, a unit of TNS Media Intelligence.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) Most big-league politicians would've fouled that changeup off. exactly. Here's what an experienced politician says: GIBSON: And under the NATO treaty, wouldn't we then have to go to war if Russia went into Georgia? POLITICIAN: Well, obviously going to war is a last resort. No one wants to send our troops into harms way. We need to keep the pressure on Russia and help build up the young democracies that have chosen to choose a different path from Russia. Only under the absolute worst of scenarios would armed conflict be an option. Palin: Well, yea. We might need to go to war. Wrong answer! Unless of course she actually BELIEVES we should go to war with Russia and that is more disturbing a political rookie than not knowing how to answer the question politically.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) It definitely still has meaning. I can't watch the videos of the planes without an emotional reaction and a chill down my spine. I remember sitting in my bed with my bathrobe on after having just gotten out of the shower and watching the second plane fly in. It's engraved in my brain. That, and sitting in my car in the parking lot of Harper Community College (I had a 9 or 9:30 AM class that day) with my portable TV watching the first tower collapse. I could hear the anchor talking and all I could think was "hey, look at your monitor. That building just colapsed". It took him about 10 seconds and he finally noticed it. On a positive side note: My parents were scheduled to fly to Las Vegas that morning to celebrate their anniversary. Needless to say, their plane never boarded and never got off the ground. While waiting, they met a nice couple flying home to Buffalo who had no where to go or stay. They tried to rent a car but they were all taken. My parents offered to let them stay at our place for a few days. Eventually they rented a car and went home. My parents still keep in contact with them to this day. So, 9/11 showed us on a base level, we are all in this together.

This one may actually take the cake: So, we can see them at at a distance. That gives us incite. I tend to think our spy satellites do a far better job than a man on an island with binoculars.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) First McCain with his "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran" song and now this. WTF?!?! If you didn't think the GOP is the party of war mongering then get out of your cave. In other parts she was confused when asked if she ageed with the Bush Doctrine (pre-emptive strikes against potentially dangerous countries). She didnt know what his doctrine was. She kinda stumbled around it until Gibson had to tell her what it was. That is wha you say when you have NO idea what they are talking about. Make them give you something to work with. If Gibson had shut up, she'd have had no answer. And when asked about her national security credentials, she said it was "energy independence". That makes me feel soooo much safer from say.... North Korea which has no oil. The video can be seen here. She didnt look very good. He line right before Gibson having to explain it to her sounds SO canned and practiced.

My wife is due to give birth any day now and let me say... I feared our child being born on September 11th. He / She would never fully understand, but when he / she tells an adult his or her birthday, I know the FIRST thing that will enter their mind is the twin towers.

Is it still meaningful to you? Yes and No is too black and white. I'm in the middle. I wish we'd go back to the days right after 9/11 where everyone was nice to each other there was a mutual respect I've never seen in my young life and it was nice.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Interviews with numerous people? Like who? Diane Sawyer and Wayne & Garth? Rush, Hannity, Laura Ingram, ya know. The good reporters

It took long enough: Palin to meet the press Yea, I'd hate to have her actually answer tough questions about her record. Wouldnt want to do that.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) So your answer to my question is no she never said she didn't support it. But she did stop it. Let me put this in sports terms: She fought to win the game. When she lost, she took her ball and went home in protest, but then says she wasn't really trying to win.
