  1. If under the Bush/ McCain Economy you lost your home in MI... you dont get to vote. Sorry.
  2. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 11:40 AM) I thought they funded it but not completely so the project was scrapped. right. But Palin makes it sound as if she had this great epiphany and decided earmark money from congress was bad. We shouldn't ask for it. But that's just not true. They were FORCED to cancel the project because it wouldnt be funded. At the time, she even said something to the effect of "the people of congress dont understand the importance of this project. Our work is in futility. Let's stop". That's not exactly saying you opposed it. It's saying you lost.
  3. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) Who stopped the bridge from being built? congress. they wouldnt give Alaska the money to build it because they thought it was a pointless project. So, Palin took what little money congress had already given them for the project and spent it elsewhere. She didnt pull the project, Congress pulled it.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) This was already posted and discussed at length (though I do not recall where offhand). oh ok. never mind. disregard the post then. My bad. I guess I missed that.
  5. well, isnt this just lovely. If you got raped in Wasilla, you had to pay for the tests out of your own pocket. Just lovely. Under Palin, rape victims paid for exam
  6. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) Poll shows Obama increasing his lead in Ohio post-Palin: http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stor...08/daily36.html I am not at as knowledgeable about polls as others here appear to be. Is this anything? here's what I've seen so far: Post-Palin pick, the polls have tightened nationally with McCain in the lead in some. But on a state by state, it's gotten tighter, but Obama still holds the edge by a slim margin. That Ohio poll is the first poll where I've seen Obama take a slightly bigger lead in a state. Mostly, it's tightened by a point or two. In my opinion, that bolds well for Obama. After all the hits and Palin bounce, Obama still has a slight edge. But it wont take too much to swing one way or another. And a poll done by FOX News/Rasmussen released 2 days before this one, shows McCain +7. Ohio has been VERY hard to nail down. Almost every other poll shows the other candidate int he lead. But, the Quinnipiac has almost 3 times the sample size as the FOX News/Rasmussen poll, so that might be something. Ultimatly., it comes down to weighting. In my opinion, polls are not an accurate reflection of the electorate. They are a best guess projection. Yes they are based on strong research and principles, but in the end, you have to decide how to weight the poll and that is not an exact science.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) The only way I see him/them do townhalls is if they hand select the questioners a la GWB. They couldn't dare risk someone actually asking Palin a tough question. I'm itching for Biden to find a way to make Palin explain the difference between Sunni and Shia during the debate.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) Wow. Even Fox News is criticizing. but... but... but... unless you have small townhall meetings you dont get to meet the people. Amazing how his stances change when it's politically expedient.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 10:23 AM) he was put in charge of the investigation by a bi-partisan vote, and up until the day that Governor Palin was nominated for VP, her attitude towards the probe was "Hold me accountable" (and that's a direct quote). It's only after the national party got involved that everyone from Palin's side suddenly was refusing to testify and the political leanings of the people running the investigation became an issue, before that they were happy to work together. the part that really bothers me is all the "clamming up" that has gone on since she was named VP. She said she'd talk... now she's trying to shut the investigation down. Seven people were set to testify.... a few days after she was named VP, the decided they didn't want to talk. It's all very fishy and I'm cynical of stuff like this to begin with. It's normally much to do about nothing. But. my radar is pinging off the charts right now. I also think she may have known she'd have gotten busted, but it wouldn't have cost her job as Gov. So, she agreed to go along and just take the hit. But now that she is VP, the GOP is scared and fear this will hurt her credibility and want to shut it down ASAP. FYI: I from ABC this morning, the committee investigating her is made up of 5 democrats and 10 republicans. He said the McCain campaign is actively trying to discredit the report based ont he 5 democrats, but he added the "failed" to tell ABC that there are 10 republicans. OOPS! Guess they forgot those people.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 10:14 AM) Clearly no one from one party should ever investigate a person from the other party. Therefore, Ken Starr's tome about President Clinton never really existed. well, we've seen how well it works when you hand pick your own investigators to investigate yourself. It's worked great for Bush.
  11. Palin adviser told her to appologize because Trooper-gate had become "grave":
  12. QUOTE (mreye @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 10:04 AM) Seems to me like he made the right choice if so many of the lefties are freaking out about it. Oh I'm not freaked out. Just pointing out what she REALLY is, opposed to her "McCain" definition.
  13. QUOTE (mreye @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) This is exactly what I mean. Classic stuff. This is the kind of thing worthy of our attention now? McCain says Obama's record is thin, thereofre every thing is fair game. Hurts liek a b**** when it's turned back around on his own VP. But dont worry. It's all sexism. The POW/Sexism defense shield is running at full strength.
  14. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:50 AM) Except that the Jet didnt sell on Ebay - did you catch that part of the story? that's part of the lie. She makes it sound like it was sold on ebay... which it wasnt. And she makes it sound liek the idea of putting it on e-bay was her idea... which it wasn. She says she opposed the bridge... she didn't. She says she'll cut spending.... but billed the state for time at home. Like he said, it's the CONSTANT lies. And it's just not her either. The "sex-ed for kindergartners" was a flat out lie. The McCain ad with Wolves lied on both points (that Obama was pushing palin's smears and the 30 people 'air dropped' into Alaska). His constant lies about Obama raising taxes. It's a trend of flat out lies that are DISCREDITED by independent sources that the McCain campaign continues to push even after being called out on them. There's a difference between bending the truth to fit a narrative and flat out lying.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:44 AM) But what is building up to be an actual issue is the fact that the McCain/Palin campaign is just plain lying about these things. Repeatedly. They are being dishonest about them. And that bothers the hell out of me. Kinda sounds like the last 8 years huh? Lie to get your way.
  16. Sell a Jet on E-Bay... OOPS! Not Palin's Idea:
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) Ah Yes, The bastard child of Yahoo Serious and Johnny Depp. :lolhitting OMG! I almost fell out of my chair. that is DEAD on.
  18. CBS takes down McCain webad, suggests it's 'misleading'
  19. This is a break down of what people call carbonated beverages across the country:
  20. I joke about this, but let's turn it around. Should Obama run an add saying McCain wants to reenact prohibition because he said he'd veto every beer? Absolutely not. This is what McCain is doing, but this latest ad is even worse because it's nothing Obama has said and done, but they HEAVILY imply it is Obama who has done it. In fact, I haven't seen Obama say anything about Palin that was false. THe only thing he's said about her was calling her out on the "bridge to nowhere" stuff which has been backed up by every major news organization.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 12:49 PM) And I hope it sheds as much light on McCain's lack of character as it did on Keyes. It wont. McCain's the Maverick and Palin is the Queen of the GOP.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) Obama wasn't on a board giving new ideas for Ayers to build bombs with. yes he was. Obama's a Muslim terrorist.
  23. As if the McCain campaign couldn't go any lower, they now tie Obama to things he's never said or done! The narrator's claim of "completely false" attacks on Palin comes from a FactCheck.org examination of Internet rumors about Palin, having absolutely nothing to do with Obama. And the Wall St. Journal report of opposition researches headed to Alaska -- as if researching your opponent were wrong -- was a reference to Democratic operatives, not the Obama campaign specifically.
  24. There's even a report that he's been dead for 5 years and we've only seen body doubles.
