QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 08:38 AM) Look further up in the thread at the Massachussetts poll results. 31 points in 4 days? Ted Kennedy says hello. Another poll back up the Teddy swing... Western NE College... 01/20 - 01/26... 151 LV... 43... 15... 8... Clinton +28.0 Interesting point..... This poll had 151 voters.. the one showing obama within 6 had 1023 voters!!!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) If that was what was happening, I think it'd be useful, but I think that the couple weeks since he dropped out have muted the effect if that was the case. Latino Latino Latino. One word is all you need. Obama needs just a FRACTION of the Latino Clinton supports to gain ground. I believe the polls in CA say if the latino vote were removed, Clinton and Obama would be tied in CA. Obama needs a bump. A Richardson endorsement gets the media to talk about a slap to the face fo Hillary right before the primaries and before Hillary can respond.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) Hmm....didn't Richardson say that he might endorse by the end of the week? Note: Hillary has NO events in NM between now and Feb 5th. I just checked her site. So, if Richardson endorses anyone between now and then, it'll be Obama while he is there.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) Hmm....didn't Richardson say that he might endorse by the end of the week? was this planned? or is this a recent decision? If it wasnt planned prior to today... it's Richardson. "a special rally in the Witter Fitness Center Gymnasium at the Santa Fe Community College" special seems like an odd choice of words for a regular event. I havent kept up with the Obama events page to know how they word their events.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 07:09 PM) all the polls show momentum swinging his way. I just looked at all the polls from the states so far (michigan not included). Obama wins in almost EVERY state in those who decided int he last month, week, 3 days (I can not explain Hillarys win on the day of vote). THAT is a trend. When all the states swing for Obama as it gets closer to their day. Intersting note... If it wasnt a HUGE swing for Obama, it was a HUGE loss bu Hillary. From what I saw... for those who decided in the last week or 3 days, Obama might not have gained, but Hillary LOST 8-10 points (often going to edwards) compared to those who decided more than a week prior. Interesting. Could it be anti-Hillary? not sure. Just an interesting fact. Hillary Lost votes as it got closer to vote.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) The LA Times a week or so ago did a bit of polling and asked Edwards supporters who they would be more likely to support if Edwards dropped out, and Clinton had a slight lead in that regard. An interesting note is that 11% were for Edwards and 12% were undecided. Obama had better results than Hillary in people who decided "in the last 3 days". So, Obama seems to be the pick of people who decided at the last second. That could be HUGE in the Feb 4th primaries. Ok, did some research. Obama out did Hillary 46% to 38% of those deciding in the last 3 days in FL. Hillary out did Obama 34% to 30% deciding the day off. Simmilar or BETTER figures exist in SC, NV, NH and IA. So, Obama seems to be the choice of those who decide the week of. (Hillary seem sto have a slight advantage the day of for some reason). In these close states where it is 5 points are less with Edwards now out of play. Obama could get VERY close if not win (especially in a caucus like CO).

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) The 2000 election...if you fix a few of the phrases (i.e. get rid of the co-presidency part, change the sex of the person it's directed at, etc.) well that to.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) Where have I heard this before. this thread

NY Post Endorses Barack Obama The whole thing is basically a rip on Clinton. Tore her, and her husband, apart piece by piece.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) I have a gut feeling he'll endorse Obama unless Hillary ... ummm ... scratches his back. and dont put it past her to put a carrot in front of him and then pull it later after she is elected. she'd do it.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) I don't think so. By going out and announcing the suspension of the campaign, he guarantees he'll only get a very small number of delegates, which takes away any leverage or power he would have. No, I'd say he'll endorse pretty soon, either just before or just after Super Tuesday. Dont get me wrong. I am not saying he'll get a lot. He might gain a handful (5 or less). Not that it'll help, but he'll take what he can get. Especially if he can then transition those over to another candidate.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) Unless I'm way off base, you just answered your own question. haha ok. I actually just wnet though and reread some of the posts and looked at where people are from. uea, it's U. South Dakota. My wife loved it there and would move back if she could. She majored in History and Native American studies. I helped her move back for her senior year and it was a very nice campus.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 01:36 PM) My brother is going to USD next year. USD? What is USD? The only USD i know is University of South Dakota which is where my wife went to school.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 01:08 PM) Edwards has not dropped out. He has 'suspended' his campaign. Which does two things. It gives the right to continue to receive funds in order to shut down his campaign. In other words, to pay for the remaining costs, which is entirely understandable. It also allows him to retain control of the 26? delegates he has control of. Interesting, but nothing wrong with it that I can see. I bet he stays "suspended" until the convention. He'll still pick up votes in some states... ergo some delegates.

MSNBC just mentioned a poll that among Edwards voters... 40% would go to Clinton 25% would go to Obama That leaves 35% undecided or other.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) I'm telling you, the Clintons don't do a DAMN thing without calculating the ramifications. Don't be surprised if Hillarity gets the endorsement. she did an interview with a station in seattle. She seemed rather "bland" about Edwards dropping out. She didnt sound positive. Not that she was negative.. I just would have expected her to be a little more upbeat if she new something was coming. Basically all she said was that she was eager to reach out to his supports. I am probably reading more into the interview than a should. but, just my thoughts.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 10:06 AM) The racial breakdowns are the one big thing that has to worry Obama. See, and I just dont see it. Yes there is SOME racial divid, but the White votes is close to split 3 ways I think. (correct me if I am wrong).

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 10:05 AM) Someone tell me, how can they tell the candidates that FL/MI will not count and then consider having them count? That doesn't even sound plausible. Someone needs to explain this to me right now. The thought of Hillary as Pres. makes me a tad queasy. Well, Hillary doenst care about Michigan. She ignored it when it happened. But Florida is VERY important to not only Clinton, but the Democratic party. Remember 2000 and 2004? Florida was a KEY state. Ohio and Florida where decider states. So, the democratic party can not afford to disenfranchise democratic voters in FL by saying they dont count in the primaries. It might drive them away in a general election, and they need EVERY vote they can get.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 09:54 AM) link That's nothing new. Heck, I bet Gravel called Edwards.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) Actually, according to the polls I've seen, Clinton and Obama both beat the pants off Romney in a general. McCain is the GOP candidate who has a shot. Agreed. HOWEVER, i think int he general McCain will get ripped apart. Especially his comment he doesnt understand the economy and that there will be "more wars". That wont sit well with a nation that is itching to get out of Iraq.
