QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) They wouldn't have to know. If this could be done I'd much rather have Wagner than Burnett. Like the media isn't already speculating... How can they not know?

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) Not only is he a FA at the end of this season, he has mentioned retirement on multiple occasions. Would Florida trade Burnett if they knew that he would go to a division rival? Philadelphia with Burnett could keep Florida from winning the division this year.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) 90s Building the Bridge. Sidenote, Clinton campaign theme and the band was invited to play one of the inaugural balls. And.. that's supposed to make them an American superband? The Doobie Bros. and Steely Dan are pretty American.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) THE SKY IS FALLING, THE SKY IS FALLING You have to at least question their offense when you lose 2 of 3 to the Royals.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) AC / DC are from Aussieland? Son of a b****, man. They seemed American to me, I never even bothered to check it out. I'll give you Hendrix, but you chalk something up to Skynyrd. Free Bird is hte 2nd biggest hit of all time. I guess that you've never heard Brian Johnson, Angus Young etc. talk then. Aerosmith is #1 Kiss is #2 Metallica #3 Eagles #4 Beach Boys #5

Now, if Ben Gordon could just grow a few inches... -
We need hits and runs more than pitching. This week has shown that. Overbay has the highest upside for this year and next year.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) Baez is getting the job done on a pretty bad team, that has to be taken into some sort of measure. 45.1 innings, 3.18 ERA, 36 K, 21 BB, 19 Sv, 42 H, 5 HR, OPP BA .244 compared to the guy we all know aint getting it done, Luis Vizcaino 49 innings, 3.86 ERA, 27 K, 22 BB, 0 Sv, 51 H, 6 HR, OPP BA .270 The numbers are closer than they appear. Walks are close, as are hits & HRs. BA is in the same ballpark, Ks are decently close, and Viz has his ERA under 4 now. He's perfect trade bait while it stays under 4.00.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) BTW, I was talking to my brother who's got serious connections with the Tampa Bay franchise, and he told me Huff is a total asshole who doesn't get along with his teammates. Playing on that dead end franchise can wear on you. -
Boston could be back in the Burnett hunt with Clement going down.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) ESPN Insider Fish hooked? Jul 26 - According to South Florida Sun-Sentinel, a Marlins scout was in Syracuse, N.Y., over the weekend, where top White Sox pitching prospect Brandon McCarthy tossed six strong innings for Triple-A Charlotte. McCarthy, 22, has been mentioned frequently as a key cog in a White Sox offer for A.J. Burnett. He is just 3-7 with a 5.17 ERA this year in the minors, but reports on the 6- foot-7 strikeout artist remain strong. The top hitters on the Charlotte roster include outfielders Brian Anderson, the White Sox's top prospect, and Joe Borchard, a former No. 1 overall draft pick. The whole article has a bit more info. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-mar...0,7822857.story

I've never heard of the saying, "Changing shoes in midstream" before. It it anything like the saying, "Don't change horses midstream"?

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) really thats not a bad idea, everett either, at least while frank is out. i think the thing is that pods covers so much damn ground tho. you dont see many doubles split the OFers, many get caught or cut off and held to singles....at least when they dont run on his arm ARow can shade over to left a little if needed. Pods has lost balls in the air that Rowand had to run behind him to catch.

You know... as much as I like that DJ .gif that I made for our emoticons here. It's pretty tedious seeing it in someone's signature for every one of their posts.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) The Cubs are #6. Better team? Beter stadium? Better transportation? Better fans? Museum and beer garden for a ballpark. -
How strong is his throwing arm? I'd say if it is pretty good, put him in LF and make Pods the DH. Too many guys are taking extra bases on Pods' weak arm.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) Schmidt looked great last night. Got in a few jams and pitched his way out with his changeup dropping for strikes. I have always liked him, and I think he would really help in a stretch run. I still think AJB will have the bigger upside, but Vizquel may be a large missing piece for this team. Uribe can then spell crede as well, and we got deeper in a heartbeat. I was flipping channels last night at work and went past Comcast. Saw Schmidt pitching for the Giants... I stopped and watched Schmidt go into his windup, throw the pitch... WHAM! Michael Barrett hits it onto Waveland. I changed the channel.
