Several scouts on hand in last Buehrle start
knightni replied to BigSqwert's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Heh. Can you imagine the joke... "Say John, what do you do for a living?" "I scout for the Cubs." "So...You're a Cub Scout, eh?" "Shut up." -
At this point, the unknown x2 has more value than a single prospect. Because, fixing the depth in this organization is needed more than coddling a player with character issues. Vazquez (30) 103 Halladay (30) 103 Buehrle (28) 101 Santana (28) 86 Garland (27) 86 Beckett (27) 68 Zito, Oswalt and Mulder have a few more wins but they are older than Buehrle.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 04:43 AM) had you done any research instead of just using one word descriptions, you would have realized that the 2007 White Sox rotation has actually been worlds better then the 2006 White Sox rotation. And, quite frankly, all things considered, I'll gladly take the White Sox rotation over the Mets rotation, seeing as how the Mets have to deal with the far inferior league both talent wise and style wise - the pitcher hitting is and always has been boring. Have fun depending upon El Duque, Oliver Perez, 52 year old Glavine or however old he is, the bum shoulder of Pedro Martinez, and John Maine somewhere else. Don't forget the part about Buehrle, Garland and Vazquez having more wins at their respective ages than any pitcher in the majors outside of Sabathia.

QUOTE(Omar Minaya @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 04:36 AM) thank you. thank you for responding directly to my post. i think milledge's "head case" reputation is largely a media fabrication. his transgressions have been having sex with his girlfriend who was a couple years younger than him, high fiving fans after hitting a game tying homerun, and releasing a raunchy rap song. no drugs, no fights, no arrests. every veteran praised his attitude during spring training, saying he matured greatly. i don't think his character is really an issue, and he definitely is very talented. I just don't think he would fit with this franchise. Kenny Williams wouldn't risk it. That may be wrong in your eyes, but it's what would happen.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 04:33 AM) Wow. You're special. No one said the Sox rotation > Mets. No one said Milledge > 2 comp. picks. Milledge is too much of a risk with his attitude and past history.
-
I said I'd prefer 2 high draft picks instead of only Milledge. Milledge is a head case and I'd rather take my chances with two solid young players than have to worry about another Chris Henry in the Sox's dugout.

It'd be like trading David Wright in his contract year for John Danks straight up.

QUOTE(Omar Minaya @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 03:21 AM) What helps a team contend sooner - a top prospect, attitude issues or not (consentual sex with a girl who was 2 years younger than him, high fiving fans after hitting a home run, and a rap song with explicit lyrics) or 2 compensatory draft picks? the sox don't have the luxury of rebuilding? what do you see in your near future then? your team is garbage! the only thing you can do is rebuild crede = garbage iguchi = garbage uribe = garbage dye = garbage erstad = garbage podsednik = garbage thome = old konerko = old bullpen = garbage rotation = declining Whoops! Looks like you just tripped, fell and stomped over the line between visiting fan and banned troll.

Milledge is a hotdogger and a bad attitude guy who plays suspect defense and has holes in his swing. http://www.newsday.com/sports/columnists/n...orts-columnists

What's worth more then... One "premium" (overrated) guy like Milledge or two compensatory picks? I'd have to pick the compensatory picks if I was KW.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
knightni replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I refuse to believe that Buehrle's gone until it actually happens. -
If it's ESPN, it's a conspiracy for him to fall to the Celtics.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:54 PM) I had no idea. Congratulations! ( I concur! Better speed up your posts though, you're posting here for two now!

I honestly believe that Jenks would fail a physical. Not weight but his pitching elbow and the screws holding it together. He's showing signs similar to Kerry Wood. Slowing velocity, no hard breaking curve...

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
knightni replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
What teams are on Javy's no trade lists? Jose has a full no-trade, correct? Contreras to the Mets and Vazquez to the Braves makes too much sense. -
Contreras>Methuselah

ESPN's reporting that Oden's physical showed a bulging back disk and still showed a lingering injury in his wrist.

Tank "possibly" got a DUI in Arizona

Shouldn't we know something by now? Or, are they holding off til Monday? -
Who will you most blame for MB being traded?
knightni replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kenny Williams. Extending Vazquez and Contreras was foolish. -
QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) Please tell me why you loved the way the draft turned out this year? A lot of Cal St. - Fullerton guys. Jas's alma mater.

Outside of Thomas, Buehrle is the only potential Hall of Famer the Sox have had since Harold Baines. He will have a shot at 300 wins, just watch. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) Come on now. We all get attached to players, but you realize that they come and go. If that was the case, I wouldnt of watched a game after BlackJack, Fernandez, Alvarez, Ventura or Thomas left this team. They were all faces of the team, Ventura for me was a personal favorite. It broke my heart when he was no longer a whitesox. The names change, the team changes. its part of being a business. I love Buerhle one of the few Jersey's I own have Buerhle on it the others has Ventura on it, but its over. I am not totally attached, but how many homegrown guys that we've all watched from low draft pick, to 20 yr old debut to World Series to no-hitter have we had in this organization? Besides, I'm not driving 120 miles in crappy traffic to watch them lose 11-1 to the Royals again.

I am done going to games if Buehrle is traded and not re-signed.

Dramatic Prairie Dog is not amused by this.
