  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) Right now out of 7 slots the Sox have 2 filled, the closer and LOOGY roles are pretty reliable. I don't see how a team can be expected to go 66-29 to finish out the season when 5/7 of the pen is filled with dog s***. This resurgence bulls*** is just f***ing retarded. Damn. I think that I just figured out your avatar. Matt Thornton's Damaso Marte.
  2. I'm surprised that you haven't rephrased your question to, "Why do you suck so much Gavin?", Pratt.
  3. QUOTE(goblue5699 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) Ozzie Guillen is to Jerry Manuel as Jon Garland is to John Danks. I missed that question on the SAT. Damn.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) Why does this sound so familiar to me? Sounds a lot like the BMac saga, doesn't it?
  5. Not platoon in the literal sense. Just share playing time. I'm sure Dunn could be put in RF in a pinch if needed.
  6. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 07:31 PM) Well, at least no one would mess with our team if we had those two around Ozzie could MC UFC fights in the dugout on days off, then.
  7. My predictions: Contreras and Dye are dealt out West to an NL team or two for a young OF or SP and mlb-ready bullpen help. Dunn gets acquired from Cincy for LF, Tererro moves to RF, while Pods and Erstad platoon in center (ugh, I know). Mackowiak and Cintron get shipped to someone and Richar replaces Cintron as a backup MI. MacDougal gets sent out for a minor spect and whoever comes back for Contreras/Dye will replace him in the BP.
  8. Send LA Vazquez or Contreras for God's sake! Re-sign Buehrle!
  9. Awful nice of Florida to send their ace out there versus our #5 starter. Danks 3-6, 4.34 Willis 7-6, 4.58 But, it could be a close game if Danks can pitch seven and keep his pitch count down early.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 03:32 AM) It's a rough draft. Please help me out and fill some holes. I was trying to think of less expensive good value guys to enable the Sox to retain the services of Buehrle and also get Ichiro. Please help. I say we raid Japan, Cuba and Mexico for relievers in the offseason.

  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 03:19 AM) Well, let him walk. I don't believe in giving pitchers not of elite caliber huge deals. Also, I should add that I have a feeling that if Buehrle isn't traded, come free agency, Buehrle will turn down the White Sox offer to him and sign a similar contract with the Cardinals, and he will be forever hated afterwards. You do realize that Buehrle and Garland are two of the youngest mlb pitchers right now with the most career wins, right? http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/W_active.shtml 15. 13. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 03:09 AM) I would give him 3 years guaranteed and two options that could become guaranteed if he reached a certain amount of goals. It doesn't work like that. His agent would politely decline and they would file for free agency. He either gets 5 years, or he walks. Simple as that.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 01:59 AM) If he wants a five year contract, give it to him. Absolutely.
  15. The Yanks would be an excellent fit, at 1st base.
  16. Sure. Can't be any worse than what we have now. Who'd they want... Haeger?
  17. Hinrich can go if we get Kobe. He's not quick enough to stay an NBA point guard anyway. Sign a free agent point guard or draft another in the second round.
  18. Contreras has to prove that his last outing was an aberration instead of part of a trend. First start back from injury for Josh Johnson. I'd like to say something positive about that in the Sox's favor, but it seems like a lot of "first start" guys have really had the Sox's number this season. Ah well. Anyways...
