  1. Someone renewed their membership in the Black Panthers last month.
  2. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) He pitched most of last season for Ft. Wayne in the FSL Last I recall, Fort Wayne was in Indiana. Nowhere near Florida. You mean MWL, right?
  3. It's like Willie Mays Hayes. You can't steal bases if you keep going 0 for 5 every night.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) If KW did that, I'd hope someone punches him in the face. So our bullpen is Jenks, Thornton, Logan, Day, Prinz, and Buckvich? and Masset.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) That's the thread from last year, not Backman's. True. But Rex talks about Backman in it.
  6. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 02:58 AM) Neither of the two shown in this thread compare to a Wally Backman tirade a few years ago when he was managing the Barons. At the time I posted full details of it, but cannot access the search function to go back and try and find the original post. In a nutshell, it consisted of all the normal yelling and screaming at multiple umpires, including stopping and then turning around and starting again. Then he kicked three baseballs sitting on home plate (the batboy had brought them out but the umpire was busy, so he sat them down) like kicking a FG. Then he threw about 20 bats out of the dugout, two chairs, a few helmets, the gum and seeds bucket and two powerade coolers. It seemed like it took about 10 minutes for him to throw everything. He'd throw something, yell from the dugout and as soon as you thought he was done, something else would come flying out of the dugout. The funny thing that no one knew about at the time was that when he was done, he smiled at pitching coach Juan Nieves, said "it's all yours" and laughed as he headed into the tunnel toward the clubhouse. I wish it was caught on video because it was absolutely priceless. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51700
  7. Mike LaValliere. He had the mustache of a man.
  8. The end of Friday the 13th part I was pretty surprising. I don't know about scary...
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 02:29 AM) Rowand? He's been pretty damn good this year. .321/.393/.500/.893 that's a pretty terrific line. Say, what has he done since oh, May 6th? G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB IBB SO HBP SH SF GDP SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS 23 97 87 17 22 6 0 2 11 5 0 15 2 1 2 4 1 1 .253 .302 .391 .693 Oh, that bad huh? Yeah it turns out Aaron Rowand does suck afterall. That's better than most Sox hitters are doing.
  10. It's amazing how many Bulls guards are getting GM jobs. Bobby Hansen getting a job next?
  11. I'm sure that dwelling on the past is very fulfilling and all, but there's no point in bringing up Young all the time. The kid's gone and he's not coming back to the franchise.
  12. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 12:07 AM) I'm not ready to write off Terrero yet, without seeing him play more regularly. He might end up being a better player for the Sox than Anderson in the long-term. I'm not against Tererro entirely. I'm against the bloated, losing machine that this team is becoming.
  13. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) I'd rather see Sweeney come up and end the Mack/Terrero experience and BA in center. Let's move on with this franchise. I agree. If the team's going to lose, they should lose with kids and a $35 mil payroll, not with underachieving old guys and a $100 mil payroll.
  14. Jackson to Bryant: "You don't want to go to Chicago and deal with those front office/owners either, Kobe."
  15. I really liked Ellis Burks too. Kind of like Dye but with a big mustache.
  16. Johnny Oates Geoff Zahn Mickey Rivers Duane Kuiper Warren Cromartie Bruce Bochy Hubie Brooks Andy McGaffigan Willie McGee Charlie Lea Gary Gaetti Bob Meacham Steve Buechele Tim Teufel Jimmy Key Calvin Schiraldi Damon Berryhill Joey Eischen A.J. Hinch Placido Polanco Eric Gagne J.J. Putz Nate Robertson Jeff Weaver Scott Hairston Zach Jackson All wasted draft picks. They wasted used their #1 in 1985 on Kurt Brown and passed on Barry Bonds and Rafael Palmiero. In '83, they passed on Roger Clemens for Joel Davis.
  17. Dustin Hermanson and Shingo Takatsu. Of course, you can't go wrong with Chris Sabo.
