Personally I don't mind this deal. He could help Contreras along plus ends the mystery of the 5th starter at least for awhile. Plus the deal is pretty good for both the Sox and El Duque. A player who has been known to be hurt often, a contract that is incentive laden is the best way to go I think.

I do kind of find it humorous yet sickening that b4 the off season began it was said getting a top tier starter was the highest priority. Now here they are looking at the bottom of the barrel type guys. Seems like to me Kenny was hoping for more out of trades that never came to be. Hopefully it will get resolved considering there is tons of time but the talent pool is thinning big time.

Well, I wasn't all excited about using him as the 5th starter but he is better than all the other choices...plus they could have used him for trade bait as well...makes me wonder what they are doing now with that 5th starter....

The pitcher I would like to see the Sox try and get is Kevin Millwood...if he is healthy the guy is a total horse. Major innings eater and can be a solid #1 or #2 pitcher. I think he would be a major bargin and possibly sign for only 1 maybe 2 years because he has to prove he is healthy. JMO

I do however agree though I would doubt either of them signing here... hell the Sox have a gaping hole at C and Pier could fill that but why would the want to do that? They have had a gaping hole in the 5th starter spot for the last 3 years and have yet to address that either.....

I have a feeling that if they signed Pier and he showed any of those negative things his ass would be either sent packing or riding the pine.

I will say slim and none and slim just left town....but thats just my thought on it. I bet there is a better chance Pier signs here b4 Perez due to the offers Perez has been recieving...I don't think Perez will be worth 7 or 8 million. If someone wants to pay him that then good for them.

I think if the Sox make this deal they better shut down Soxfest, because it will get friggin insane!! This sounds like one of the worst trades ever and has to be a complete dream up on someones part...KW wouldn't be this stupid would he?? Or would he? hehe
