QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) I think I'm a little light in RB, but I'm hoping Rice takes care of that. It may bite me in the ass, but I took Rice with the 2nd pick over CJ2K. I think CJ2K will have a good year, but I don't think it will be a repeat of last year. I'm hoping Rice outscores him with this being a PPR league. Only time will tell if I'm kicking myself in the ass at the end of the year. Arian Foster is the starter in Houston and I think he can bring some decent RB2 points in that offense. Very happy with my receivers. Primed for a repeat championship in my league. Rivers, Philip - Quarterback - SDC Rice, Ray - Running Back - BAL Foster, Arian - Running Back - HOU Austin, Miles - Wide Receiver - DAL Johnson, Calvin - Wide Receiver - DET Celek, Brent - Tight End - PHI Rackers, Neil - Kicker - HOU Eagles - Defense - PHI Bench Bradshaw, Ahmad - Running Back - NYG McFadden, Darren - Running Back - OAK Brown, Donald - Running Back - IND Sims-Walker, Mike - Wide Receiver - JAC Breaston, Steve - Wide Receiver - ARI Wallace, Mike - Wide Receiver - PIT Sanchez, Mark - Quarterback - NYJ Scheffler, Tony - Tight End - DET Chargers - Defense - SDC Kasay, John - Kicker - CAR Wait a minute? WTF? You had the second overall pick or do you mean your second pick? If you had the second overall pick and took Rice over Johnson then I'm puttin' a hit on your ass.

Soxtalk Keeper 1 Thread
So Zoom, I take it you've learned your lesson in regards to thinking that just because you have Utley/Ramirez that you're a lock for a top 5 finish every year? I wanted to beat your ass (in fantasy, of course) when you said that. If anything, we need to add to the keeper list. I've got Zimmerman, Miggy, Cargo, Tulo and Cano. And I get to pick only 3.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) Just keep him home since that is where he "produces" the most. I scoff at the notion Cargo only rakes at home (even though it's true).

Fantasy football 2010
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) Guess I'm too late to join, eh? Man, I sent you a PM right after I had created the league. I didn't expect it to get filled so quickly.

Fantasy football 2010
QUOTE (dielac @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) As I said before. I think it would be cool to make the 3rd WR slot into a WR/RB Flex. Anyone down to do .5 PPR? I'm considering the WR/Flex position. Doubt I'll do the .5 PPR. I've always hated PPR. Makes average backs/receivers more valuable then they are. But if a couple more people would like it I could add it.

8/28 Gamethread - Danks v. Yank$;
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) How can you blame Teahen for not getting a hit off Rivera? Seriously...how? Left handed hitters hit .198 off of Rivera throughout his career. It doesn't matter who is hitting, more likely than not, a left handed hitter will fail to get a hit 80% of the time when they face Rivera. And anybody who fails more than 80% at getting hits is a bad hitter. So Mark Teahen is not alone and you can't say he f***ed up because he couldn't get a hit off of one of the best closers of all time. You can hate on Mark Teahen, he's not a great player by any means, but saying he sucks because he can't get a hit off of Rivera is unfair. One of the best? He's beyond a shadow of a doubt the best closer to ever live.

Daniel Hudson watch thread
QUOTE (Real @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) It's gotta be easier, by leaps and bounds, for a kid like Hudson to pitch when there's no pressure on... in a weaker hitting league, in a pitchers park Just sayin LMAO@ Chase field being a pitchers park.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) We seem to love that Felix Diaz/Lance Broadway/Kyle Mc mix. The medicore tops out at 89 fastball with a 12/6 curve that doesn't have the tilt and no command. Unless you have pinpoint control, and can throw a few pitches to exact spots you are going to have problems throwing cheese up there. Thank god we have been getting a bit balsy with our 1st rounders lately. In a dream world we spend more on our draft and go for talent over safe not so good. We also seem to love the Mike Jackson relief pitcher mold. We have had 3 pitchers on the team with the same exact stuff that he had. Only one year did we get anything out of that type of pitcher. I agree. But nothing has really changed after the first round. Cheap/safe seems to be the motto. There's talent to be had up and down a 50 round baseball draft.

How do you guys do it? How do you even watch 30 seconds of preseason football? I'd rather watch the Nanny on Nickelodeon.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) for all the tony pena lovers, he's sucked since Williams signed him. once again, the runs that scored against him are the difference I'm one of the few that defended the trade last year. I wanted to at least give it a year before coming to a legitimate conclusion. The verdict is in: Tony Pena is bad at pitching. That's not good when you're a pitcher.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) Great effort from the offense...but sadly, we're 4.5 games out. Do you have any confidence Floyd can hold the Yankees down tomorrow? Seems like he's not that good when he's not facing the Mariners, A's, Orioles, Royals or scrub NL team.

QUOTE (rafacosta @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) for all the carlos quentin lovers...he sucks in the last 2 years. This year, at least for me, was going to determine who the real CQ is. Other than that crazy 3 week stretch, he's been one of the worst everyday RFs in baseball. Think the Reds would do CQ for Jay Bruce? One can dream.

8/28 Gamethread - Danks v. Yank$;
I wonder what kinda market there is for CQ? He's just not that good.

8/28 Gamethread - Danks v. Yank$;
I'm even more pissed off now. Danks/Pena really f***ed us. I won't mention Torres. I envy him. In reality he should be working at Burger King, but he somehow got to the majors.
-
8/28 Gamethread - Danks v. Yank$;
I would've really liked our chances if you told me we were going to score 8 runs tonight. Our offense has been terrific the last two weeks.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:11 PM) Brett Gardner is fun to watch. Always liked him as a player. Wished we could have acquired him in the off-season when the Yanks were shopping him in that period. Oh well. Meh, hard to not be satisfied with what Pierre has done this year.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) Fixed your post. You better have a plus off-speed or breaking pitch when your fastball tops out at 88. And he has neither. We are so screwed.

8/28 Gamethread - Danks v. Yank$;
Carlos Torres has no business on a major league roster. How bad is the International League?
-
8/28 Gamethread - Danks v. Yank$;
Torres has the worst pickoff move in history.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) So the consensus is to just play Carlos Quentin at home vs RHP? I didn't even realize he's been so bad against LHP.
