  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) Well, I'll take our chances in the postseason. I'd rather lose every game 15-0 then to not make it. No doubt Fathom. I'll do anything for us just to get there. Even if all our guys have ERAs over 5 (not totally impossible). I just think we would have little to no chance with the pitching as is.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) Well the Cleveland Indians who are not in it this year because of their pitching, will be passing our pitching numbers by the end of the week. This is with gascan Carmona closing things out. I remember when we were all laughing at the Indians' pitching problems back in May. That seems like 20 years ago. I can't believe how badly this pitching staff has underachieved.
  3. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) So you weren't "worried" about them despite them being the favorites? Is that different than being worried about them? I'm confused. What? I'll say this again: As of August 21, 2006, the Yankees are the favorites to win the AL and move on to the World Series. It doesn't matter what I might've said two or three weeks ago. That was then. This is now. They've looked considerably better than anybody in the AL for atleast the last two weeks.
  4. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) There not going to come around, the offense is the only chance we have, and they better get it going FAST Then we're done. We're not gonna hit our way to the playoffs. Even if we do, will get knocked out in round 1. The pitching has to get better.
  5. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Didn't you say you weren't worried about the Yankees a couple of weeks ago? Never said I wasn't "worried" about them. Some were giving them the pennant as soon as they got Abreu. Their pitching is still suspect. But as of "right now" they're the favorites.
  6. This team is done if our offense goes into another 1 or 2 week slump. They've got to carry us until these damn pitchers come around.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) Yankees, since the deadline, are definitely the most talented team in baseball now. It's fun rooting for them like I did this weekend, where every guy coming to the plate is dangerous. They're easily the favorites at the moment.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) If they don't make the playoffs, I think we will be hearing about numerous non-reported injuries. And I won't believe a single one of them.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) AJ -- I think I have a good idea on how to get Monroe out. Throw a fastball, preferable 85-87 MPH, on the inside corner. I have not seen this bastard, Monroe, hit an opposite field shot against us ALL YEAR. OMFG. Look at his hit chart at Comerica. HE HASN'T HIT A f***ING OPPOSITE FIELD SHOT ALL YEAR AT COMERICA. Why this team INSISTS on pitching him inside, and going away to slap hitters like Vance Wilson, Jason Tyner, and Pudge Rodriguez is BEYOND ME. This is absolutely un-f***ing-real. LOL. You and I were two of the more optimistic guys around here all year. Look what this team has done to us.
  10. Jose's ERA at 4.04 now. This has got to be some kinda record. How does every returning starter from a World Series championship team come back worse the following year? And we can't even pla the injury card.
  11. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) Corey Lidle would be our #2 starter. Dude, our pitching sucks. We get it.
  12. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) If this team keeps this s*** up, there's no way in hell were making the playoffs Fixed
  13. I'm about to snap on Poppy. Would somebody please ban him?
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) Didn't that happen in 03 too? This team kills the '03 team top-to-bottom talent wise.
  15. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) This season, when all is said and done, will be considered a complete disappointment. It will go down as one of the biggest chokes of all-time if a team with this level of talent can't get into the playoffs.
  16. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Does anyone still want to argue that we don't have the worst pitching of all the playoff contenders? It's not even close. Have you watched the Red Sox lately?
  17. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) Not if Garcia or Vazquez were on the way out. It's difficult to lose a trade like that. Have any idea what teams were offering for those two?
  18. QUOTE(GOD @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) Let's be honest here. KW made too many moves and ruined a team that had good chemistry, played fundamentally sound, and had a good attitude. Oh and di I mention we won the f...ing World Series. He should've never messed with a good thing. Last year's offense+this year's pitching=the 03 Tigers
  19. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) The alternative to standing pat was improving the team. So we're more concerned with winning trades than improving the team? Um, it would be hard to improve the team if we were getting ripped off in trades.
  20. I do not like where this team is headed right now.
  21. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Why does everyone doubt that Kenny didn't explore plenty of options? He's proven to be a fair trader, so the offers must not have been very fair. I don't for a second.
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) Pods was our spark last season Well, maybe for one half All year actually. He hit .337 in September and had a great postseason. I don't even recognize him now.
  23. I guess Verlander is due to have one good start against us.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) Considering he just threw an overhand fastball to Monroe, I dont think that is the issue. I'm not talking about that pitch. I'm talking about how it seems as if he hasn't been the same pitcher since they started messing around with that.
