Ozzie Guillen's in-game managing
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) I understand everyone needs a wipping boy(Mine is clearly Pods) but it is amazing to see the crap Ozzie gets at times. If I felt like it, I could bump atleast 3 "Ozzie is a horrible manager" threads from last year.

2006 MLB Catch-All Thread
It's just a damn shame that the White Sox aren't taking advantage of Liriano being out and the Red Sox' staff in complete shambles.

2006 MLB Catch-All Thread
Yankees now up 13-5. They've scored 39 runs in the first 3 games of this 'epic' series.

Josh Beckett
Josh's line today: IP 5.2, H 7, R 9, ER 9, BB 9, K 2, HR 1 Not even our guys walk 9. It's sad when you can make me apperciate Freddy Garcia a little bit.

Hey, Freddy! Suck my rooster!
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) Who knows, maybe Freddy is just trying to make it easier on managment to ship him out. I'm thinkin' he doesn't want to be here anymore. Between these latest comments, and the crap a couple weeks ago about how he doesn't get up for bad teams -- he's practically begging them to trade him. Maybe he's bitter because they tried to shop him during last off-season. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) Yup, get rid of everyone. Mark is going nowhere.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) Wonder if ESPN will stop with the Josh Beckett as a Cy Young Candidate talk NOW!?! Boston's pitching makes our pitching look good.

Speculation about Pods
Question: Why are we getting rid of Uribe?
-
Speculation about Pods
As one of the few Pod's supporters around here, he's making it very difficult to back him. He's been flat awful since the break. I'll hold on to hope that he can turn it around (another month like May would be excellent) this season.

Detroit Tigers World Series Thread
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) For a guy everybody said was a lock to suck in the second half, Rogers hasn't done too badly in August. 4 runs allowed in 19 innings. I wish one or more of the members of the greatest rotation ever assembled could throw up some similar numbers . He still has a 6.37 ERA since the break. But, yes, he's been good in August so far. Rangers with runners at first and third and nobody out in the 6th.

Detroit Tigers World Series Thread
Mr. second half has shut down a very powerful Ranger offense through 5 innings. Make that 4-1 Tigers on a HR by Gullien. We're not getting any help from anybody. Only team Detroit can't beat is us.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) I posted it in another thread but gotta get in this one as well...props to BA for that cutoff to keep the tying run on 3rd. 2nd time this year he's made a nice play out there in the 9th that eventually avoided Bobby having a BS. He's flawless out there in center.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) we coulda lost the series today but we didnt... i think thats a good thing and we havent lost much ground in the races and now we get to control our own destiny - nothing wrong with that I'm glad we won today. Overall, though, this was a bad series.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) 2 games? We had 6 hits today. We scored 5 runs. That's not getting shut down.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) They have great pitching. Basically shut us down for 3 consecutive games. They shut us down for two games. Their pitching still sucks overall.
-
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
I'll take it anyway we can get it. Props to the Royals, though. They'll be solid if they can find some pitching.

Not a surprise, not a time to panic, but what happened to "grinde
QUOTE(AirScott @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) the Sox are like the Lakers from early this decade, taking the games they want to seriously. I saw a graphic that said we're the best in the MLB or AL (can't remember which, I think MLB) vs. .500+ opponents. I was discussing this early today, and I think if we make the playoffs, we have a great chance of winning it all again, because of our lineup and bullpen (which is more reliable, but not as good as the 2005 version). See my sig.

Unacceptable White Sox Loser
I'm with Fathom and Irish. There's absolutely no excuse for laying back-to-back eggs against the worst team in baseball.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) I am not saying that this team overall has shown corpseball offense this whole year. But one of the tenants of corpseball was playing like s*** against the worst teams in baseball. That is what I am talking about. We play them like Freddy pitches against them. Fair enough.

Unacceptable White Sox Loser
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) The PFB show is pretty funny tonight. someone called up and asked why is ozzie resting so many of his starters. PFBs answer. Well there was a right hander starting. Oh so you start a corner OF in center because he was born with the left appendage as his primary appendage. Awsome. LOL QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) atleast the tigers split a 4 gamer against the d-rays but that was on the road, so we're more pathetic The Tigers have handled the teams they should handle. We simply haven't.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) We are hitting .316 this year with RISP. But remember we didnt drop off that much during those corpseball years. In 04 and in 02 we were 3rd in all of baseball with scoring runs. In 04 we hit .291 with RISP In 03 we hit .281 with RISP In 02 we hit .290 with RISP Let me ask you this, Irish: Save the first two weeks after the all-star break, and the brutal showing the last two nights, when exactly has this offense looked like corpseball?
-
Unacceptable White Sox Loser
Do the A's own the Mariners or what? They need to teach the Sox a little something about beating teams you should beat.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) take a look our our offense and how they ranked in baseball in those years. Our team has always been near the top in the league in homers, and run production. Last year was the first year in a while we took a dump as a team overall. I know our offense was near the top most of those years. I don't remember any of those teams hitting like this team has with RISP, though. And most certainly none of those teams had the comeback ability of this team. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) I somewhat agree with you, the real problem with this team is the starting pitching. But i do agree, that we should be taking better approaches against some of these crappy pitchers. If you would have bet me monday that we'd only put up 2 runs against Hernandez and Bernero, I'd be on skid row right now. The offense has been simply pathetic -- the last two nights. That's all I'm saying here. This offense is not like the '01-'04 offenses.

Unacceptable White Sox Loser
I can usually find atleast one positive after most losses. Not tonight. Pathetic is the only word that comes to mind.
