  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) L. Ayala-Washington D. Riske-Boston K. Calero-Oakland Julio Mateo-Seattle Julián Tavárez-Boston Akinori Otsuka-Texas JJ Putz-Seattle Ray King-Colorado You can pretty much scratch out all of those AL teams. They're certainly not looking at helping us upgrade.
  2. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Pods would be his best friend in the locker room And yea, I agree with that. I was hoping Contreras would be dealt for a stud reliever, and I think its still a possibility to happen. You better get a lot more than a reliever for a guy the caliber of Jose Contreras.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) For pete sake the guy has a 6.09 ERA in his major league career (171 games). Last year he was away from Coors and he was even worse with a 9.42 ERA in 29 games. This guy is HORRID. Kevin Walker is inifintely better than some of these bums that this team is giving a shot. I fear for this cause Ozzie tends to use guys in big situations, regardless of who they are, and these guys will BLOW games left and right. That was in like 10 innings. I'm giving all these guys a fair shot. What other choice do we have? I wish this was fantasy baseball in which you could just address a need whenever you felt like it. But it's not. Lopez has been impressive to this point. If he can keep it going, he should make the team.
  4. Duke looks awfully tough to beat when they're getting production outside of Redick and Williams.
  5. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...7A?OpenDocument That's what I call loyalty.
  6. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) If IU wins now the game tomorrow will be almost impossible to watch, i may have to utilize the mute button. LOL. Nice win by Iowa. It was rather ugly. But I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss anyday of the week. I still don't see Indiana beating OSU. Although they're as hot as anybody in the conference.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 01:31 AM) His performance is just a sign of things to come. He blows chunks just like all the other lefty candidates. Will see.
  8. Poppy makes Hawk Harreslon look like a pessimist.
  9. Um, we can't have our entire bullpen replaced because they might not match what they did last year. I wish it were that easy.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) Justin Williams of Wyoming has 10 points, 11 boards and 11 blocks as Wyoming is trying to advance to the mwc finals tomorrow. They're up 6 with 1:37 left. That kid is a beast.
  11. I see Lopez got roughed up. I'm not worried about this performance. Now let's see how he responds his next time out. That will tell a lot.
  12. I'm gonna go with an even 100. I just don't see any legitimate weaknesses on this team. Everybody seems to be worried about the bullpen. I'm not. They were one of the top pens in the game last year. Until they show otherwise, they get the benefit of the doubt as far as I'm concerned. The offense is A LOT better. The rotation, as hard as it is to fathom, is better. The Bench is A LOT better. 100-62 is what I'm predicting.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) Also, Dee Brown should send 10 percent of whatever money he makes playing pro to Luther, Deron, James, and Roger....because damn is he overrated. There I said it Illini fans, crucify me. He's got the fame and the smile and the undeserved awards, but if he's not making 3 pointers, he's a below average player. He was our 4th best player last year and is our 2nd best player this year. He's been great for the school, but as a player he's overrated, by just about everybody. I wouldn't go that far. But he's definitely not the player I thought he was gonna become.
  14. I didn't get to see the game. Looks like I was fortunate. You never really know which Illini team is gonna show up. There's really nobody on this team that's consistent. Dee either goes 9 for 15 or 2 for 13. There's no inbetween with him. Auggy is inconsistent. The rest of the guys are inconsistent. So you a night like last night is what you get.
  15. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 02:59 AM) KW says that he most likely won't be trading for another reliever... http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=164410 I now expect a trade to happen in the next week.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) Has Prior pitched yet? Nope. But the Cubs are just being "careful."
  17. QUOTE(R.J. @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) What's with people completely discounting prospects who haven't seen hitters above a High-A level when they get knocked around by major leaguers in spring training? What do you guys expect? First I hear that Lance Broadway should be released because he got hit hard by Vladimir Guerrero, and now "who needs this young left hander with plus stuff and a bright future! bah!" They're prospects guys. Give them their time to learn and improve and get better. If it doensn't happen, THEN call for their head on a spike (Joe Borchard). A+ post
  18. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 02:04 AM) I agree, I would rather take Gload or Borchard who are out of options and let Sweeney, Fields, and Owens get good reps in the minors for a year or two. However, if he keeps this up for the entire month, it will be interesting. BTW, Anderson is batting .188, and I thought they said he would still have to win the job. Is he a lock? Kenny has been talkin up Anderson for the longest now. He traded a gold glove caliber cf to make room for the guy. That's not gonna change after 6 or 7 spring training games.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) This one is just about done. Oregon heading to the line with a 78-71 lead, 1 min left. EDIT: Roy with 30 for U Dub, but is getting no help. 80-73 Oregon with 51 seconds left. I know Chamberlain hit all the 3's, but Jordan Kent was HUGE as well.
  20. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) Carl will be back by June... That would require Jim Thome to die.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) WOW!! Aaron Brooks of Oregon is kicked out after SUCKER PUNCHING Appelby of Washington in the face and looks like he broke his nose. LOL. That game isn't on by me. Was it a SC update or something?
  22. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) Bonds HAS admitted it, hasn't he, but with the caveat that he "didn't know" they were steroids. You know what I mean.
  23. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) I'd rather have Sweeney be started in some games in CF to see what he can do now... It's obvious Anderson isn't ready... And Rowand started out as a corner outfielder too... SWEENEY FOR CF IN 06!!!! Let Anderson get his hacks in AAA... Barry Bonds will admit he's done steroids before this scenario happens.
