  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) Sure, I think so. But someone also has to apparently replace Hermanson now. And a second lefty has to apparently replace Marte. That's two holes, not one. I agree. Like I said, Kenny took a gamble that Dustin would be alright. That obviously wasn't the case. I was just pointing out that before he got hurt, there was nothing to get too excited about.
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) Our two bullpen holes last season were Marte and Vizcaino, right? While I didn't like either of them, Marte had a 3.77 ERA and Vizcaino had a 3.73 ERA. What two guys do we have that can replace that production? I know it's just ST but I'm not seeing it so far. You don't think Bmac can match or exceed what Viz gave us?
  3. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) Ok Jordan I am with you on the patience part, I understand where your coming from... He has until the end of the week I win I see what you're saying, though. It probably was a little naive for some of us (me included) to think Hermanson would be alright. I was just hoping for the best.
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) Okay, then take out the second lefty... Healthy & productive relievers: McCarthy Politte Cotts Jenks We are still short two relievers, based on your criteria. No, I said BEFORE Hermanson got hurt there was nothing really to get excited about. Obviously something has to be done now.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) I don't think Cotts will suck. I don't think he'll be able to match last year's numbers, I don't see how any could expect that. They really were incredible and he is going to be in some hairier situations this year. I think Politte is going to be a dissapointment. Hermanson was talking retirement. Vizcaino was traded away. That's a lot of relief appearances. Remember, Ozzie loves the lefty/lefty, righty/righty matchups. It sometimes takes him a while to go get someone on the mound, but once he starts, he can go through pitchers pretty quickly. So what is Kenny supposed to do? Replace the whole bullpen because you don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that any of them can come close to repeating what they did last year?
  6. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) Yes there would be -- the crappy second lefties. With Hermanson looking to be injured, we now we have two potential bullpen holes. Not having two lefties is nothing to have a panic attack about.
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) No, I mean neither will match the 3.78 Vizcaino put up last year. He didn't pay as much attention to the bullpen as he did last offseason when in reality it was his #1 priority. Coming in he had Shingo who was coming off a year just as good or better than Jenks had. Hermanson, Politte, Cotts all who will be hard-pressed to match or even come close to what they did last year. Marte who was not good, but is a hall of famer compared to some of the guys they signed. And Vizcaino, who wasn't great, but was a guy with a rubber arm who could eat innings. BMac is probably better than any of them, but I can't see the Sox throwing him in 65 games. The other thing he had was back-up plans if guys faltered. Shingo faltered in comes Hermanson. Hermanson goes down, there's Jenks. Pitchers are going to go down, that's just part of the game. The Sox only used 6 starters last year. Its been a long time since a team was able to say that, and that scenerio probably won't repeat itself. That would mean BMac will most likely be in the rotation at some point, making the bullpen worse. It is a huge problem for a team trying to win another championship. A thin bullpen has been the achilles heel of many otherwise great teams. Um, just because you have it in your head that Politte and Cotts will suck doesn't mean Kenny does. If Hermanson was healthy, there wouldn't even be anything to really talk about. Kenny gambled that he would be. He was wrong. Now lets exhibit some patience and give the man a chance to do what he does best.
  8. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) I personally like San Diego State. Slaughter and Heath are both really solid players, and Abukar, Spain, and Sharper make solid contributions. They're a pretty tough team. I'm leaning towards them. I also wonder if Vaden's ankle will hinder him.
  9. I'm really torn on who to pick between Indiana/SDSU.
  10. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Well tracey can't hit the side of a barn. His command is way off. i am tired of these guys registering 88, 89 miles an hour. there are only a few buerhle's in the world. Quickman, I don't get where you're coming from. You've been saying for the last couple days that just about everybody in our minor league system, all the invitees, ect, suck. Yet you're endorsing Danny Graves? Do you just want to put a guy in there just to have him there? You've gotta have some patience, man. Give Kenny a chance. Jeez!
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) Again. I was only posting a story showing what Ozzie thought of the kid. He's officially coming to big league camp tomorrow. The other thing was from KW, who doesn't appear as worried as Ozzie and COop, but is always looking for options, internally and externally. I was just playin with you, man.
  12. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) he is a veteran who I would take a chance on. Is he great? no of course not. but he is better than what we have and he won't s*** in his pants facing major league players. We are not getting an all star we just need a guy that can pitch an inning here or there. Graves has been hippo s*** since 2002. We may as well give the spot to Tracey.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Boone Logan? Kill yourself
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) I think I'm about the only person who has BC losing to Nevada 2nd round. I don't see it happening, but I can definitely see where you're coming from. Fazekas is an absolute stud. He'll definitely give them some problems downlow. Charlo is a good compliment to Fazekas. They've got some pretty underrated guards as well. I can't believe how stacked this particular bracket is.
  15. QUOTE(Wanne @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) That's why I was almost sure Baez was gonna be in a Sox uni this year. And I wouldn't write off Milwaukee so quick either. No way we could've gotten Baez.
  16. QUOTE(WhiteSox311 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) Mar 12 According to The Chicago Tribune, the Chicago White Sox rotation of SP Mark Buehrle, SP Jose Contreras, SP Freddy Garcia, SP Jon Garland and SP Javier Vazquez has allowed only 11 earned runs in 43 innings, for a 2.30 ERA. I just have to shake my head when I think about the depth of this rotation. It's gonna be a fun year.
  17. QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) really happy to see Thome coming out strong this spring, it should really put all of the injury questions to rest. I never had any. Kenny has earned every bit of trust I could possibly give him. No way he makes the trade if he isn't 100% sure Thome would be healthy.
  18. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) I think most people just don't want to trade the top guys like Sweeney, Fields, Valido, Owens, Broadway, and Liotta. Who cares if they trade any of the other guys down there. Rock Raines mentioned Rogowski and he would be an ideal guy to package in a trade, although he obviously isn't going to have the trade value of the top guys. If it were up to me, everybody would be fair game except for Sweeney and Fields. Sweeny for obvious reasons. I think he's gonna be a stud very soon. Fields has already shown glimpses of what he can become. I predict a big year out of him in '06.
  19. QUOTE(SouthsideBlitz @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) Eh wouldn't say "new" been lurking here for years ... glad you and I both share the same opinion. Welcome to the board. Post as often as possible.
  20. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) So? He could have kept it to himself. He could have left the Sox as a hero. Instead, he became Sammy Sosa Part 2. I love Frank but his exit was disappointing as hell. He was with a new team and should have been talking up the A's, not wasting time bashing the Sox front office. The Sox helped him get his ring like Ozzie said. He should have left all the bulls*** in the past. By the way, Frank only had a beef with KW. He has always had a good relationship with JR. As I said above, Frank was wrong for the way he went about it. But I believe he had legitimate complaints. Anyway, I'm not about to start another Frank vs Kenny debate.
  21. QUOTE(SouthsideBlitz @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) So? It wouldn't have been such a big deal if both side's didn't go to the press and talk. I agree. I see that you're new here. So you wouldn't know this. I've said atleast 100 times that Frank was wrong for the way he expressed his feelings.
  22. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) The point is that this should have been his response from the beginning. And that would've made a difference? He still would've had the beef with Kenny and Jerry.
  23. QUOTE(whitem0nkey @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) Fabio Castro has been getting roughed up with Texas, increasing the chances the Rangers will offer him back to the White Sox rather than keep him on their roster. Even if we got him back, he wouldn't be an option.
  24. You mean to tell me Frank isn't the devil?
  25. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) Not good... Javier Lopez's line: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 1 HR, 6.14 ERA He gave up a 3-run homer to Eric Chavez. Looks like he's coming back to earth. Atleast he didn't walk anybody. That's the main thing I look at.
