  1. Looks like MSU/ILLINI tomorrow. If not for Goran Sutton, Purdue probably wins this game. Davis and Brown have done little.
  2. QUOTE(GLOAD is GOD @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) After watching the game today, combined with his already productive spring the inevitability of Ryan Sweeney's stardom may come to be sooner than later. He is bigger and stronger than I expected, granted I havent been able to see him with his glove, but i have still only heard good things. I think he has a chance to be a stud for 2006 sox, who knows, with a strong triple a campaign this year, as a september call up he may eventually make a serious bid for a playoff spot.....thoughts? Way, way too early to be talking about September call-ups. Ryan is having a great spring. But that's all it is at this point. I'm assuming he's gonna start out the year in AA. Let's see if he can carry what he's doing now into Bham. After that, you have to see how he handles AAA. Ryan still has a long ways to go. He's definitely moving in the right direction, though.
  3. These guys are nuts.
  4. It's nice to see our guys do this to somebody for a change.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Wow. Fields and Sweeney are nasty. 3 run bomb for fields. That was a shot. Sweeney and Fields are rakin.
  6. Holy s*** was that a nice inning by Almanza. Made a couple guys look silly. His fastball and slider were extremely sharp. Sox pitchers have retired the last 12 batters they've seen.
  7. Sean Tracey with a quick 1-2-3 inning. On to the bottom of the 7th.
  8. Blakely just got under one. Sox strand the bases loaded. 5-3 going into the 7th.
  9. Jim's obp in the 3 slot is gonna be so nice to have.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) The White Sox are better served to have Mackowiak in a super-utility role. Brian Anderson is this team's starting center-fielder. He projects to be in that position for awhile, so, we need to come to terms with that. Are there going to be some growing pains? Sure. But, show me a big-leaguer that didn't have those pains. If I had to guess, Anderson is going to be a fan-favorite in no time. Give the kid a shot, he's earned it and at the very least, he should be able to replicate Rowand's year at the dish. He's a former first-round draft selection, he's a guy Kenny has defended consistently, and his ability made Aaron Rowand expendible. Let's all sit back and give BA his shot. Also, to be perfectly honest with you, there is no one else to really man that position at this point in time. Rob Mackowiak is not an everyday center-fielder, I think his defensive play would leave a lot to be desired and with that, we would lose the benefit of his versatility off the bench. As far as minor-leaguers, nothing doing. This thread should end with this post.
  11. Reynoso with a very nice 1-2-3 inning. Made Dobbs look foolish.
  12. Michigan lost it when they didn't take advantage of Grier doing next to nothin in the first half. Nice win for the Gophers.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) Is there any doubt how huge of a pick up this guy was? I think it's gonna turn out to be one of the more underrated additions to any team in baseball.
  14. Valido pops out. Owens flys out to right. Sox don't score. Still 5-3 going into the 6th.
  15. Nice bunt by Mack. Runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out.
  16. Anderson gets no love around here. Can we atleast give the guy a month before we talk about replacing him in center? Kenny did not trade Rowand for Mack to become the everyday cf.
  17. He gone! Reynoso gets out of the inning. 5-3 Sox going into the bottom of the 5th.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) So no fastballs or curveballs? I missed the third inning. So maybe he threw some then. I basically saw him throwing the 2-seamer and change-up.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Someone needs to be more specific on the PBP while we are at work. It's 5-3 Sox. Top of the 5th. Mariners have runners and first and second with nobody out. They now have runners on 1st and 3rd with one out. Ibanez is up.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) What pitches was he throwing? Last time I saw him he spent like the first 2 innings throwing almost nothing but 2-seamers. That and his change-up.
  21. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Did BMAC go 3 or 4 innings? He went 4 innings.
  22. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Perhaps we're seeing why Kenny and company are so big on Ryan Sweeney. If I had to guess, he is probably a big part of that five-year board. Yup, Kenny has been very adamant in his belief that Anderson and Sweeney will become something special.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) How did BMac look? He gave up a couple runs on a Raul Ibanez HR in the first inning. He gave up a run (unearned) in the second. He really settled down after that.
  24. I just hope guys like Sweeney, Fields and Owens can do what they're doing now in Bham/Charlotte. It's always nice to have trade assets. Not that I want to trade any of them. But you never know when a need will arise.
  25. This is easily the best the offense has looked all spring.
