  1. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) Ohh well either way... Is anyone else hoping that KW now just says payroll be damned and swings a trade with the Reds for Ken Griffey Jr and say Kent Mecker.... Griffey and Mecker for Borchard, Any outfield prospect not named Anderson or Sweeney, and one of our top pitching prospects... If KW did that then I think I would just cream my pants on the spot... We may as well have kept Frank then. Way, way too much of an injury risk.
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) Ozuna: it's what's happening! Oops. Meant to say isn't going anywhere.
  3. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) I guess I was hoping we might have picked up a Figgins type guy where he might be good as a CF too... I don't know much about him at all to be honest... Anderson and Mack are holding down CF. As far as Cintron goes, he's one of the better reserve players in the game. He can play SS, 2B and 3B. He has decent speed and pop. He's a very good pinch-hitter as well.
  4. Barry Bonds isn't going anywhere unless he chooses to retire. You would have to ban half the league if you were to ban Bonds.
  5. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) I'm not going to go though a 28 page thread to get the answer but does anyone know if this Cintron guy has any experience playing the OF... More importantly does anyone know if he has any experience playing CF... If he could then I would tend to go with the Gload people and say that Borch is on the way out... Ozuna plays a solid LF, along with every IF position besides 1B. Not to mention he's our best leadoff option of all the bench guys... Mack plays just about everywhere he's asked too... Gload can play 1B and a servicable LF. If this guy can prove himself to play above a Willie Harris level at CF then it's entirely possible Brian Anderson might see some competition and it makes the bench just that much deeper... So has he ever played the outfield in the minors... How did he do at it? To my knowldge, Cintron is strictly an infielder. That's all we need him to be. Mack is gonna basically be the back-up outfielder now.
  6. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) No way, the first day of the NFL draft is the place to pick up depth in the linebacking core, secondary, interior offensive line... you find very productive players there... something I just do not see in Ramsey. Angelo has shown strong draft capabilities in those middle rounds, so I would rather keep those picks. Well, it depends on what you think of Ramsey. I think he would flourish in Chicago. Then again, he would only be a back-up. I just cringe at the thought of Grossman getting hurt and having to go with Orton again. "Waits for WhiteSox Josh to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about."
  7. This doesn't surprise me in the least. I never thought for a second they wouldn't reach a deal. Unlike other sports, the NFL actually gets it. A work stoppage would've been absolutely crippling.
  8. Ozuna isn't going anywhere.
  9. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) I agree that Ozuna's only useful attribute to us is his speed. And I don't think we should underestimate that. With the exception of Pods, our lineup is filled with guys with decent to below-average speed. If he's kept on the team simply to steal a base in the late innings, I think he warrants a spot. Just adds another dimension to the bench. It's possible we don't win game 2 of the ALCS without Ozuna's speed.
  10. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) He's been nothing less than spectacular in his last 2 years of minor league work, and he's never really had a bad year. Please save the "minor leagues are meaningless" responses -- yeah, okay. Some of us'll take that over about 10 innings in the bigs. Cintron can't hurt, but when we're trading away a guy w/ a good history b/c we have Javier Lopez (with a much longer record of major league ineptitude) looking good in a few innings of spring training, it concerns me a bit, yeah. I see your point, and I don't think minor league numbers are meaningless. It's just hard to block out what you've seen (I've already stated it's been a small sample size) from him when it comes to facing major league hitters. He's gotten absolutely shellshocked. Does that mean he can't be a good pitcher? Not at all. But the dude is 28 years old. I would think a little bit differently of him if he were 23 or 24. The Sox obviously thought he had no place with this organaztion. Maybe this move will come back to bite them in the ass someday. Anyway, I'm very happy with Cintron.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) BOOOOOO! BAD TRADE! BAJ WAS GOING TO BE OUR NEXT GREAT SET-UP MAN! THIS WAS HIS YEAR!! In reality, it is a good trade but puzzling at the same time. Was this trade necessary? Do we need another utility man? Could we afford to give up a decent bullpen guy? We'll see. Decent? What's he shown in his time (all be it a short time) that he's decent?
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Why don't you just stop? Anyways, you can never have too many capable players on the bench. 162 games is a heck of a lot of games. Depth is a great tool to have when you are trying to repeat. Blum and Harris have been replaced by Cinton and Mack, that is good news.
  13. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) I don't see the humor. I never said that. Please don't put words in my mouth. Explain yourself then. How is this not a good trade for the Sox?
  14. All I was hoping for was atleast one of these guys we brought in to pitch well enough to atleast make Ozzie and Coop think a little bit. I'd say Lopez has done that and then some.
  15. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) Good Move. Cintron is one of the best utility infielders in baseball. Wonder if this means that Mackowiak is gonna be the starting CF. Mack will not be starting. But he will get a lot more run in the outfield now.
  16. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) If you saw the seminar with Ozzie and Kenny at Soxfest, this really comes as no suprise. I actually am surprised. I figured he would get a fair shot to prove Ozzie wrong.
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) With Uribe's arm, he belongs on the left side of the infield. Almost no one else in baseball gets that last out in the world series. Only guy I can think of is Furcal.
  18. Konerko k's. This guy always chokes under pressure.
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Time for a PK grand slam A slam now would trump the one against the Astros.
  20. Uribe gets hit. Based loaded with none out.
  21. Here we come! 2 on with nobody out.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) So does that mean we should anticipate KW trying to swing a deal involving Munoz before the end of the spring? Yes
  23. GT defeats ND by 4. Really good game.
