  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) A lot of people around here were advocating bringing in Cintron to replace Uribe at SS last off season. He may be good, but he's not that good. I don't think anybody is claiming him to be "that good." But if you look at what he brings to the team, combined with what we gave up, it's a great move.
  2. Hermanson gives up a 400ft bomb to Chone Figgins.
  3. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) lineup? I know the first four guys are Mack, Uribe, Konerko and Gload.
  4. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) A second/third round pick would be way too much for him. A second round pick is definitely too much. I think a third would be alright.
  5. I wouldn't mind Ramsey as a back-up.
  6. Mack starts the game off with a walk.
  7. QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) remember when our starting rotation consisted of guys like danny wright and scott schoenweis? wow, that's a depressing thought. I'm still trying to forget. Kenny has done a wonderful job in putting this staff together.
  8. Holy s***! I just saw the shot by McNamara.
  9. Another good article on the White Sox. This is hard to get used to.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) "Ozzie must have a serious problem with Munoz." Yeah he has 'no guts', remember? :headshake I didn't take that as Arnie would pitch one scoreless inning in a week of spring games and get outrighted just because.
  11. This is an important game for Hermanson. He's looked very rusty so far.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) What's Baj's ERA+ ? Could any resident stathead, or BP Subscriber PLEASE tell me what is the point in looking at OPS or OPS+ for smaller frame baseball players whose roles are NOT to to hit hit home runs? There is no point. Some people just live to b**** and complain. This is a good move by the Sox. End of story.
  13. QUOTE(MarlinFan84 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:55 AM) Hey all, been a while since I posted here. Good times, my Marlins are rebuilding, I am excited to watch these young guys play their butts off. But right now, lets talk college basketball. I am from southern Illinois, and have been a Saluki fan since birth. I spit on the Illini, they mean nothing. It's all about the egyptian dogs where I am from. They had a tough time this season, at the start mainly. Then Bryan Mullins got inserted into the starting lineup, and things changed. The conference wasn't easy this year, mainly because the MVC was so deep and so good(possiblity of 5 or 6 bids into the dance). But we earned our way in, by dominating(except for the UNI game) the MVC tournament in St. Louis. I dont know how many of you watched, but the dawgs were on fire. But to suceed in the tournament, we need to keep with the defense(top 10 scoring defense) and hit our open shots. Randal Falker needs to keep amazing me, as every game he does something that makes my jaw drop. Tatum has been on fire as of late, that needs to keep on keeping on. Matt Shaw plays so hard, he creates so many opportunities for the team. Tony Young was somewhat cold in the MVC tournament, I hope he gets his touch back for the dance. Bryan Mullins is such an amazing point guard, he excells on defense. He also creates many open looks for himself, but seems timid and afraid to shoot. He has a beautiful shot, I just wish he'd take them more often. I wish my team the best of luck, maybe the two seniors(Kyle Smithpeters and Austin Brooks, two walk ons) will get a little playing time. Best of luck in the tourney dawgs, suprise the world. Nother another SIU fan. :headshake Just kidding. Welcome to the board, man.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 07:59 AM) With the way the NBA plays defense and the respective levels of competition that they are playing against, I don't see how anyone can say JJ doesn't have 20 point a night potential in the NBA. Hell Hinrich gets brought up, and there isn't a facet of the offensive game that Kirk is better than JJ in. He's a better shooter and penetrator, not to mention JJ can actually hit a clutch shot. If Reddick gets drafted by a team with a solid penetrator at the 1 or 3, or a team that has a center who you can dump the ball into, he could score 20 points a night from the 3 point line alone. I say all of this and I cannot stand Duke. I would much rather see Morrison be the better NBA player simply because of how much I think Duke fans sound like Yankees fans. JJ Reddick will be a very good NBA player. Good post. I think it's unfair that basically any white player is gonna get labled as not being athletic enough to play in the NBA.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) That much was obvious at Soxfest when he ripped him as something like gutless during the Q&A session. I don't remember Oz's exact wording, but it was blunt and that was his point. Munoz never had a chance. I guess so.
  16. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Strange, he seemed to do well in his stint in ST. He pitched in the spring opener and that was it. Ozzie must have a big time beef with him.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) Hes also a cubs fan, cut him some slack That's all I had to know.
  18. What the hell? The guy got to pitch one inning all spring. Ozzie must have a serious problem with Munoz. Anyway, I think it's safe to say that Lopez is gonna be the second lefty.
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) Good for Gload, let him have a shot at playing elsewhere. I agree. He can have some real value on another team. The Sox are just too loaded right now.
  20. QUOTE(easyw @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) Here's a thought - KW is looking ahead to the trade deadline. I agree that this trade doesn't make any sense give the current roster. The Sox need relief pitching, not more back-ups. Ozuna and Mack can both play on the left side of the infield. But Mack prefers RF and Ozuna can play just about anywhere. So... Maybe, if Mack does well enough, mid-season, you put Dye on the block for some middle relief help. Or Sweeney goes back to Charlotte. Dye will underperform this year, if he doesn't injure himself first. Huh?
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) How does everyone think our bench matches up against other teams' benches? I don't have the 411 on all the benches in baseball. But I feel comfortable in saying it's in the top 5. Mack and Cintron are two of the premier reserves in the game.
  22. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 06:47 AM) And then went on to have a better next 2 years, meaning his first year was, technically, his worst. As for Ichiro, Ichiro's first year was his second best season, with 2004 being his best. I took him saying "worst" seasons as saying they struggled their first year.
  23. Looks like Gload is gone. He has to be with the trade of Cintron.
  24. I'm now looking forward to the "Sunday" lineups.
  25. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) Hold on for just a second here, guys. Alex Cintron had a .298 obp last year, and has a career .320 obp. he isn't perticularly fast and isnt a stolen base threat, he has no power, he's not a very good defensive player from what im looking at, and he's going to make nearly two million dollars this season. Personally, I think the Diamondbacks suck for trading away my cousin Jason last week and then today going out and acquiring Bajenaru, but at the same time this deal is hardly the fleecing you guys are making it out to be. The Marlins would have traded some AAAA fodder like the White Sox did had Cintron been reasonably priced, but he's far from it. Rotoworld brings up a good point in there disection. Let me guess, we're gonna regret trading Baj later.
