  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) Eh.
  2. Well, the Sox traded somthing they had a surplus of for something that was needed. I'm okay with it. Let's hope another deal is made to move De Aza or Viciedo.
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) This really needs to go through soon, my work day productivity is taking a major hit right now No kidding. But then there will be another rumor about trading De Aza or Viciedo. Might as well pack it in.
  4. I'm predicting a board explosion (one way or the other) soon.
  5. Yeah, I just looked up Kendrick's numbers. He'd be quite the upgrade at second. Where does Beckham go then?
  6. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:11 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 12s Proposed deal would include Trumbo + 2 prospects to #DBacks, Skaggs + Santiago to #Angels, Kendrick + Eaton to #WhiteSox. Not done. That's not bad.
  7. So one guy is saying there's an offer to Uribe and others are saying no way. Unless someone is being shipped out, I'd tend to think there's not an offer.
  8. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) Quintana for Eaton is crazy. Where ya hear that from Jose? I'm sure there's more to it. Bruce Levine tweeted that it could be Santiago or Quintana.
  9. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:04 PM) Bruce Levine ‏@MLBBruceLevine 55s White Sox working on getting center fielder Adam Eaton from AZ. Will have to part with left hand starter (Quintana or Santiago ) talks fluid No way on Quintana. That would be a huge overpay unless there's something else significant involved.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) Going to make a prediction... By the time this is done, it will be a 4-team trade, and most of us will be happy. Aren't 4-team trades very rare? However, that would be interesting. I think if the Sox get one more piece (a solid prospect), most of us will be happy.
  11. Just like around the trading deadline, I find that if I just step away from the computer stuff will start happening. Sure enough, I just got back from a meeting and things are happening. I like the idea of Eaton. Hopefully there's another piece coming back with him. And I'm not totally against Uribe. If he is signed, however, wouldn't that mean that one of Keppinger, Beckham, and Gillaspie will be gone?

    Nice try. Actually, no it wasn't. Delete this thread.
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) Adding depth for a trade for Quintana/Santiago? That's what methinks. It makes sense.
  14. 6' 3'', 270? That's a big dude.
  15. Chuck Garfien tweeted that the Sox have signed Felipe Paulino.

    QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 02:18 AM) Ehrmegerd, Homeland sooo good tonight. This will be a long week. Excellent episode. When
  17. I can see both sides of the argument here, and thanks to folks more knowledgable than me about draft picks I am definitely leaning more towards NOT signing Granderson and saving the pick. Mainly my thinking is how soon will the Sox be competitive? The AL Central is not as weak as it used to be, and going into a season thinking that 85 wins could win the division is foolhardy. I'm not saying that couldn't happen, but it's doubtful. Signing a 32 year-old guy who hasn't been great as of late for the money he will most likely get to play on a team that is at least two years away from competing doesn't make sense. Especially when you'd have to sacrifice a pick that COULD bring some much needed talent to a depleted farm system.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 02:07 AM) He will have a very good year. You heard it here first. Thank goodness he's back. Gives me a reason to watch this pathetic team and maybe buy mlb.com again. Don't flame me, but can Dunn play left field? I'd rather see a platoon of Dunn/Viciedo out there. Let DeAza play center and Garcia right. Abreu DH. Can Abreu play LF? Unless you're seeing news reports the rest of us aren't, Konerko will not be playing a lot. He's going to be a back-up DH/1B and will serve as more of a clubhouse leader and mentor. If he only gets 150 ABs or so (which seems realistic right now), he might hit some homeruns and have a few RBIs. Overall, he's not going to have a big impact on the field. And stop messing around with Abreu's future. He will be the starting first baseman for the Sox, that's it. And, no, Dunn cannot play LF effectively.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) Yup? Like, yup, gonna happen? Or, yup, hope it happens? Yeah, I had the same question. For which team might he be a fit?
  20. I don't really have a problem with this. It'll look even better if a trade or two is made sending Keppinger and/or Dunn somewhere. I have to think there will be some moves made next week. Overall, the money certainly isn't an issue. The issue will be the roster spot, but hopefully that is taken care of soon.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) Some of you guys that want Salty for 3 years over a catcher like AJP amaze me. I worship AJ but I do not want Salty. I'd prefer Flowers/Phegs over that guy as we storm past 90 losses again. It's pretty obvious Paulie is coming back. This team hasn't made enough moves yet to show it wants to match its excellent pitching staff with a good team behind it. Anyhow ... please, no Salty! QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) I'm not trolling, I'm very angry that a team with Bill James as an adviser (admitted the best sabes talent evaluator) recognizes the value of an AJP and people on this board who actually got a WS title in large part because of AJP think Salty is a better option. Geez. I get the feeling some think AJ is some old hack who can't play, when he WAS A MAJOR LOSS to our team last season. Saltalamacchia may not be THE answer, but he's a better option than AJ right now. Salty is 28. AJ will be 37 soon. Pay AJ $8.5 million for a year and go through the circus of finding a catcher again next year or pay Salty $27 million over 3 years. Look, I like AJ, too, but I'm also a realist. Stop talking about the World Series. That was over 8 years ago! AJ was 29 when he had a large part in the winning of the Series.
  22. I lived in Connecticut for a few years, and I can say the northeast is filled with assholes. So, AJ should fit in fine.
  23. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 09:29 AM) AJ deal is 8.25 mil, that should end all arguments, Sox were not paying that. Yeah, that's a bit rich for a stop gap. What does that deal do for Saltalamacchia, though? Does that up his price at all?

    This is an interesting topic. I'm an avid reader, and there have been plenty of times I've found a character to be desirable. I'm sure I'm missing some, but a couple would be: Esperanza Diaz from Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar series - Athletic, smart mouth, former female pro wrestler Maggie O'Dell from Alex Kava's series - Attractive dark-haired Irish FBI agent Oddly enough, Victoria McQueen from Joe Hill's NOS4A2 - Feisty woman who might or might not be crazy who takes on The Gasmask Man and Charles Manx I like the idea of writing a book with some women of my choice, too. I'd include Jennifer Lawrence, Megan Boone, Olivia Munn, and maybe Sarah Shahi.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 10:02 PM) What would be wrong with signing AJ for 4 million, one year? He'd be vital in helping our pitching staff. Bring him in as a stopgap. $4 million for one year as a stopgap...that's what would be wrong. Signing AJ doesn't do anything for 2015 and beyond, which is where the Sox need to be concentrating. If they sign AJ for $4 million or so, we're going to be having this same conversation next offseason. Don't get me wrong, I like AJ, but I just don't see a scenario where he'll be signed by the Sox, especially for $4 million or so.
