  1. I didn't get to post in the game thread yesterday, but what a great performance by Floyd last night. I'm hoping this is a sign that he's turning it around. Plus, good call by Ozzie to pinch hit with Pierre. When I saw him up, I was concerned (lefty on lefty), but I saw Pierre's history against Lilly and felt better. It's too bad that Konerko and Carlos "Pop-up" Quentin couldn't get the job done.
  2. Pierre! Forgot about that awesome slide.
  3. Mark! Konerko Santos Putz Jenks
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) First since the very beginning of September last season, if we miraculously make it to 5 it'll be our longest winning streak since a 7 gamer between June 27th and July 3rd of last year. Wow. That's not very good.
  5. A win would be the first 4-game winning streak, right?
  6. I like it! Thanks!
  7. I'm slightly hammered and thinking of changing my user name. Anyone have any suggestions? Like: Hoganerko Peaved Off in Joliet A Pittsburgh Sox I need another beer.
  8. I can't give up on my Sox! Sweep the Shlubs and make a run! Let's go!
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) I've said it before and I'll say it again; I hate weekday afternoon games. I like them until 7:00 and I realize there's nothing on to watch.
  10. I've had plenty to drink this evening after not having drop one all week, so please excuse my enthusiasm. I love AJ and Konerko. Can we re-sign them? That being slurred, what a great performance by Peavy, AJ, Rios, and Konerko. Three game winning streak. Lots of runs. Solid pitching. I love the Sox today. I'm going to go have another beer. I'll read this post tomorrow and be embarrassed, but until then...
  11. AJ after today's slaughtering of the Cubs: “All the trade talk, this and that, I’m a human being,” he said. “Every person goes through it. I’ve said all along I just want to get through Sunday so it all goes away.” Sounds to me like he'd opt to stay with the Sox after his 10/5 kicks in. I love AJ, and after today's performance I'd be all for re-signing him. But is this the real AJ we saw today? I would like to see him around another year or two. Regardless, I think if he was traded or signs with another team next year, he'd get a standing O returning to USCF...which he would deserve. As much as an asshole he is, he was our asshole for quite a while, and his shenanigans helped us get the 2005 WS title.
  12. Can the Sox go ahead and sign Konerko to an extension...couple o'years with a hometown discount?
  13. The Novella "Wreck of the Titan" was written 14 years before the sinking of the Titanic. There were many eerie similarities between the Titan and the Titanic.
  14. Peavy definitely has to pitch better, but the quote (which has had an extremely long life here) to me did not say he wanted to be traded. As a matter of fact, he said he wants to stay because the team will not be rebuilding.
  15. The team that is now the Chicago Cubs were originally known as the Chicago White Stockings.
  16. Wow, angry thread.
  17. Jake gets to hit today. I like the Sox in this one. They're going to be bolstered by the two nice wins against the Tigers. Peavy will step up and pitch his ass off. Wells is going to get shelled.
  18. Right now I'm thinking that both have to go. I like KW, and would rather see Ozzie go, but this whole situation between them is out of control. Unless KW is given the green light to fire him, I see KW resigning. That would piss me off if that happened and Ozzie was still here. So, I think the best option to rid of boith of them.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 01:46 AM) Exactly. Many of you just f***ing ignore him when he gets the job done in victories and that pisses me off. Why no credit? Bobby rocks! Just like Oz getting fired I hope we trade Bobby so many of you get your wish. It'll be fun to see somebody else get ripped after blowing tie games. Oh wait, it'll be Oz getting the blame for using the wrong closer. I don't understand the cliche where fans get sick of guys who have been around a long time. Bobby is still an effective closer whether you believe it or not. First of all, the Sox just took two in a row from a division rival, including a great 3-0 victory yesterday, and arguments are still breaking out. Stop taking your frustrations out on each other!! But, to my two cents in, I see where you are coming from Greg about giving Bobby credit. However, he did what he was supposed to do. That's awesome, and he's been solid in June. But he's supposed to be solid...all the time. He's the closer and has one job to do and gets paid well to do it. I think his June numbers look even better because of how bad he's looked before that. Bobby is an effective closer, you're right. But when he's bad, he's really bad. And when a player in such a high profile position is bad, it's really noticeable. Yes, Bobby has only blown one save, but he's blown other opportunities (and blown them badly). Obviously in those situations he wasn't being used as a closer, and I have a problem with that. I like Bobby, and what he did for this team in 2005 will never be forgotten (remember the 100 mph fastballs that brought Bagwell to his knees in fear!?). I'm glad when he does well. I hope he continues his ways of June for the rest of the season. But he saved a game yesterday when the team had a three run lead, and he did it pretty convincingly. Great job, Bobby. Now go out and do that every time, and I'll stop cringing and looking away from the TV when you come into the game.

  21. At first I was going to say yes, yes, yes! But, the more I thought about it, it really doesn't matter. When you see s***, you know they actually typed the naughty version of poop. And I agree with someone else's post that said having the filter forces more intelligent posts...or at least posts with more thought. What I find strange is that b**** is censored but not piss or asshole. Anyhoo, I like the idea of substituting words. But it would have to be random to keep it fresh. So you'd see posts like "Those darn tootin' White Sox can't win a cottonpicking game it they were given a fudgin' 10 run lead!" or "Pants dammit!".
