DID YOU KNOW?!?!
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) I scored the first run of the season for our softball season. I knew this. I read it on Wikipedia.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) There's no way in hell this team is capable of sweeping a three-game series against Pitt. Easy, champ.

Top banner change?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) I think Kal said the photos they use for the banner are no longer available, so changing it would result in a lesser quality banner. But the players should be of better quality.

Let's just hope that the Pirates know that the team they will be playing are the Chicago WHITE SOX and not the CUBS. They have done a pretty good job of beating up on the Cubs this year.

This is Why I Love Ozzie; Don't Deny You Love Him Too
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) I was there and initially did a double take at the bunt attempt, but in a 1-0 game, you do anything you can to get a baserunner and try to tie it up. On a related note, Wrigley is not as big a stinky urinal as some on this board make it. I think they do the best they can with what they have and I forgot how much I missed the ease of pissing in a trough like at old comiskey However, nearly 15 years since my last visit and a lot of mellowing on the whole Cubs-Sox thing, I must say it is one big uncomfortable fire trap. The rows are on top of each other and I can not understand why so many of the fans there constantly get up and down during the game. What's worse is they do it in the middle of the inning. There is very little incline to the sections so even when someone several rows down from you gets up, there is a decent chance your view of the game will be blocked for a bit. Like old Comiskey, the posts and overhangs can obstruct your view from the 200 section quite a bit as well, but it is understandable. Also, getting in and out of there is a real test to ones patience. I would say it is just because it was Cubs-Sox, but based on their attendance figures, I assume it is a pretty standard experience. Lots of nice looking tail, though. I've been to Wrigley maybe 4 times (and once was for the Winter Classic), and you're right about it not being as bad as it's made out to be. It is old and a bit dingy, but it's not a terrible venue. There definitely doesn't seem to be the same attention to the game there as other stadiums.

It's good to see the pitchers turn it around. I'm still quite concerned with some of the hitters. And therefore I'm not getting too excited about the good run as of late. The Sox could very well go into Pittsburgh and sweep, but what happens when they go back to playing AL teams? I'll have some hope when they reach .500 and stay above .500 for a while.

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 08:44 AM) Don't forget Alexei. You can't give him a pass. No, you're right. I must have blocked that at-bat from my memory it disturbed me so much. I realize the bunt was taken away because of the balk, but he's got to get the job done there. A fricking fly ball to the outfield.

Maybe JR should plead with Selig to get the Sox moved to the NL...maybe trade places with Milwaukee. The Sox could kick some ass over there.

I'm surprised that many people there were actually paying attention to the game. Probably one person who was paying attention started booing and then others joined in. Then they said, "What are we booing about? The seagulls?"

I didn't get to post in the game thread yesterday, but what a great performance by Floyd last night. I'm hoping this is a sign that he's turning it around. Plus, good call by Ozzie to pinch hit with Pierre. When I saw him up, I was concerned (lefty on lefty), but I saw Pierre's history against Lilly and felt better. It's too bad that Konerko and Carlos "Pop-up" Quentin couldn't get the job done.

6/12 GT: White Sox @ Cubs - 3:10pm CDT FOX
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) First since the very beginning of September last season, if we miraculously make it to 5 it'll be our longest winning streak since a 7 gamer between June 27th and July 3rd of last year. Wow. That's not very good.

A win would be the first 4-game winning streak, right?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) I've said it before and I'll say it again; I hate weekday afternoon games. I like them until 7:00 and I realize there's nothing on to watch.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
I've had plenty to drink this evening after not having drop one all week, so please excuse my enthusiasm. I love AJ and Konerko. Can we re-sign them? That being slurred, what a great performance by Peavy, AJ, Rios, and Konerko. Three game winning streak. Lots of runs. Solid pitching. I love the Sox today. I'm going to go have another beer. I'll read this post tomorrow and be embarrassed, but until then...

Does AJ get traded this weekend?
AJ after today's slaughtering of the Cubs: “All the trade talk, this and that, I’m a human being,” he said. “Every person goes through it. I’ve said all along I just want to get through Sunday so it all goes away.” Sounds to me like he'd opt to stay with the Sox after his 10/5 kicks in. I love AJ, and after today's performance I'd be all for re-signing him. But is this the real AJ we saw today? I would like to see him around another year or two. Regardless, I think if he was traded or signs with another team next year, he'd get a standing O returning to USCF...which he would deserve. As much as an asshole he is, he was our asshole for quite a while, and his shenanigans helped us get the 2005 WS title.

The Novella "Wreck of the Titan" was written 14 years before the sinking of the Titanic. There were many eerie similarities between the Titan and the Titanic.
