QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 08:48 AM) Wow, that bug thing in your sig is crazy annoying. First time I saw it I almost broke my monitor trying to kill the bug.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 07:43 AM) I am totally clueless on this one. Is it Omar's game preparation? Does he whisper secrets in his ear? I mean, really....clearly Alexei is playing great D but can anyone point to anything that Omar does on a daily basis that has helped? Seems like this can be blown out of proportion but you can't argue with results... Although I'm sure Omar has been teaching and mentoring Alexei, sometimes players respond by just playing with better players. If you have a guy like Alexei who has a natural talent, his game can be bettered by simply playing with someone like Omar.

Got a new car, but still no title
This is probably a stupid question, but did you finance anything when you bought the new car? If so, the lein holder will have the title.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Back when the Sox were struggling many of us were asking what the hell Omar was doing because we saw no improvement in Alexei's game. Now that Omar's been playing a lot (right alongside Alexei), his presence is evident. Not only does Alexei look like a Gold Glover, he makes some of those plays look easy. His range has improved dramatically, and his throws have been on a dime. Let's hope that whatever he's taken from Omar this year he keeps it up.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 12:01 AM) On our way to 7 in a row . Only the logical next number after 11 then 9 next comes 7. That's fine, but then it'll be 5, then 3, then 1. How about if they go 11, 9, 7, 9, 11?

Have the White Sox ever had a better defense?
It's too bad there isn't such a position as a designated fielder. Jones is a perfect fit. One of the best outfielders...ever, but his bat has slumped. Seriously though, you're right about the defense. Alexei has impressed the hell out of me of late.

Staying Pat
I don't know. I agree that the market sucks, and KW may overpay for a bat. But I'm not convinced this team can get much past a division title without another bat.

Does Kenny dare to consider making this trade?
Kenny would consider a trade of Teahen to the Tigers, sure...but it won't matter, because I highly doubt the Tigers would want him. He's not even available to play right now.

Your "All-Time" Favorite Guitar Player
Ah, this is always a good debate. There are quite a few very good guitar players out there, and many of the same names come up: Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, BB King, etc. One of my favorites has always been Brian May. I'm a big fan of Queen, and I've listened to just about every album. Some of their best songs weren't their greatest hits. As far as May, the sounds he elicited from his guitar are unique. He may not be considered one of the best, but he's one of my favorites.

Disney World
I was just there with the family a couple weeks ago. I was extremely impressed by how the place runs. As far as where to stay, the Beach Club is fantastic (if a bit pricey). Their pool area is the best I've ever been to.

(Insert Celeb Here) is Dead
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 08:09 PM) James Gammon, who played manager Lou Brown in the "Major League" movies, died today at age 70. Sad. "Forget about the curveball Ricky. Give him the HEATER!"

What band would you wish to reunite?
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) Queen. This was my first thought as soon as I saw this thread. I'm a huge fan of Queen. Could you imagine if Freddie Mercury was still alive and writing songs today? Their last studio album Innuendo was a glimpse of their music into the 90s.

Peavy Done for Year; Marquez Up
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 03:03 AM) Ptatc's evaluation doesn't sound good. As it turned out, Jake was a complete waste of money. He's a gamer and all, but it's money down the drain. And yes, I wish him the best in his recovery. It sucks he got hurt. I don't feel sorry for baseball teams that waste money like this, however. Giving pitchers multi year megabuck deals is just stupid in this day and age of coddling arms that in the best of times can't give a team more than 105 pitches a night. Nobody held a gun to the head of owners who brought this upon themselves. Easy now, champ. It's a long time until ST of 2011, when Peavy will supposedly be ready to come back. That might be a stretch, but let's wait and see what happens before we say he was a waste of money. What if this had happened to Jenks? Would you feel the same way? Sorry, greg, I had to.

Buehrle: 10 Years of Excellence
With every great player (and yes, I consider Mark a great player) there will be rough patches. MArk's rough patches have been few and short-lived. Above him being a very good pitcher, he's even a better guy and teammate...at least from what we know. I met him once before a game (along with a bunch of other people clammoring for autographs), and he was patient and made a point to say hi and sign everyone's hats, balls, tickets, etc. I'd like to see him pitch for the Sox until he's ready to retire. And I totally agree with the statue.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Beckham seems to be back. Those runs should have been unearned for Danks. How could that missed catch be called a hit? Other than that one inning, Danks was sharp! Jenks did his job...and then some. It's good to see him using the hook more. Nine in a row! Let's at least split this series.

Who do you love right now?
It was a tough decsion, but I had to throw my vote to the Sox.

Second half predictions
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) -Ozzie forces Lillibridge to bunt for singles because his constant extra base hits don't allow Guillen to hit and run. -AJ smashes his bat into the ground before an at bat, getting it out of the way so he can just walk to the dugout when he pops up. -Jones leans so far back to try to uppercut a fastball that he scrapes his right elbow on the ground. -A DJ weird attempt at humor is shoe horned into a conversation, met with silence by Farmer, and then driven into the ground as DJ assumes all the joke needed was to be repeated ad nauseum. I have a feeling this will happen tomorrow.

Second half predictions
Wow. This thread has become quite engaging. I don't know if I've ever seen so many * in a thread. I'm glad I didn't post right away because it gave me time to think. At first I wanted to jump in and defend greg, and I'll still say this: He's definitely the target of many angry posts. But I cannot agree that Quentin is any better than lousy in the field. The catch, well that was awesome, but Andruw Jones could have caught that while dumping a fistful on sunflower seeds in his mouth because he would have taken the correct route to the ball. I'm exaggerating, but not by much. Watching Jones and Rios in the field on Sunday was a treat. These guys make it look so easy, especially Jones. I'm waiting for him to catch a can of corn behind his back while chatting it up with a fan. Quentin is always jumping around, and he looks uncomfortable every time a ball is hit in his direction. I've realized that I release a held breath every time he does catch the ball and it doesn't bounce off his head ala Jose Conseco. If Jones has returned to form (and there's no guarantee that is true), he's a much better choice...scratch that...he is THE choice to play right field over Quentin. TCQ is a beast at the plate, and the Sox need his bat. I like the idea of him DHing and having Jones and someone else playing the field. I don't think Jones can do it all the time, maybe not even most of the time. Quentin bat = good. Quentin glove = not good.

Second half predictions
-MLB officials suspend Freddy Garcia, stating that he can't be as good as he's been therefore he must have a robotic arm -Brent Lillibridge demands that he be known as TBL on SoxTalk -Carlos Quentin's hair actually gets messed up after he hits a walk-off GS, rips off his helmet, and his teammates rub his head -Mark Buehrle is tossed from a game by Joe West when he strolls to the mound wearing a cowboy hat -Peavy, being the grinder that he is, learns how to pitch left-handed and starts a game in late September

Beckham Back to the 2 Hole?
Too soon...if he's moved back at all. He seems to be getting his confidence back. Leave him where he is for a while, then maybe move him up, but not to the 2-spot.

Teahen
I would hate to see The Tank go down. He's looked good at the plate, and his defense has been serviceable. I like the idea of packaging Teahen in a trade, but who would take him? The best option the Sox have is using him in place of Kotsay, but unless Kotsay is traded or DFA'd, that's not going to happen. I suppose it's a good problem to have, but I have a bad feeling that the wrong decsion will be made and the Sox will end up with Teahen and Kotsay both getting way too much playing time.

Even with Peavy gone, we still need a hitter more than a SP
I'm starting to believe that Freddy is healthy. He obviously doesn't have the same velocity he had years ago, but he's found other ways to get outs. I'm not convinced his arm is "going to fall off". He will have a hiccup here and there...all pitchers do. But I think Freddy will be fine.

Throwing and Hitting
QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) Geez I thought this was about some disgusting thread of who's pitching and who's catching? Soxtalk its what I come to expect. Maybe you should go back to typing gibberish.
