  1. I'm not going to start a new thread, but what would you do right now if you were KW? I wouldn't do anything until after this road trip and maybe into the next home stand. If the Sox are swept during this road trip and lose 2 of 3 to KC, I'd have to do something. But would firing Ozzie be the right move? Who would step in? Would you start shopping your players?
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) at this point, Ozzie can draw names out of a hat and put them in that order and we wouldnt know if it was right or wrong. Its top to bottom fail right now I think it was Bobby Valentine who did that once because his team was struggling. They ended up winning the game. Maybe Ozzie should just draw names out of a hat.
  3. QUOTE (3E8 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Sounds like love at first byte *rim shot*
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 08:40 AM) Nope. The last five innings looked better IMO. I agree. He almost looked unhitable.
  5. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 07:17 AM) Pierre's not hitting and Beckham, i think, is thinking too much in the #2 hole instead of just raking. When your top 2 hitters in the BO are struggling to get to .225 there's going to be problems scoring runs. My idea for a new batting order would be: 1-Rios- he has the speed Ozzie likes and he's hitting well. 2-Alexei- he'll see more fastballs which can only help. I know he's struggling but a move here may help him. 3-Jones-when he plays and i'd be fine just putting him in the lineup everyday for now. #3 hitter is the big hole in the lineup. 4-Quentin-you could Konerko here but Quentin, even though he's off to a slow start, is more of an overall threat. 5-Konerko- you can put him anywhere and you'll likely get his consistent production. 6-Teahen- good spot for him 7-Beckham- this takes all the pressure off him and allows him to get back on track. 8-AJ-Like Konerko, he's going to give you the same no matter where he hits. Until he starts hitting, #8 is a good spot for him. 9-Pierre- use him as the "2nd" leadoff man and put him where his .200 batting average should be. I know the lineup is heavy RH in the upper half but something needs to be changed. I don't think you can just base your lineup on righty/lefty. Go with something that changes things up, yet still makes sense. I like it but agree with Sqwert...put Teahen batting second. Rios Teahen Jones Quentin Konerko Beckham AJ Alexei Pierre Or swap Beckham and AJ to break up the 4 righties in a row.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:19 AM) Sox will not see .500 in 2010 so this is moot! Remember that the Sox are in the AL Central. I know the Twins are looking good, but history says a record just over .500 could win the division.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 07:40 AM) I dont think he will be fired, and I really dont think i am all for it, but letting Juan Pierre end the game last night with Andruw Jones on deck batting for Vizquel(instead of Pierre) is just disgusting me beyond belief. Wow, I said the same thing as I watched another weak slap off the bat. I saw Andruw standing there, and I said, "Why?"
  8. I have to believe that there will be a shake up soon if things don't improve. After losing the first two in Texas, it's more than conceivable that the Sox could go 1-5 or 2-4 on this road trip. Going home worse than 10-15 (and I think 10-15 is optimistic) has to ruffle some feathers. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Ozzie fired. He was given too much freedom with this team and his rotating DH idea, and he has failed thus far. I really don't see it getting better unless KW steps in and makes some changes, even if that change is telling Ozzie to knock off the stupid decisions.
  9. Oh, a day game. So, I might be swearing a lot at work today. Hopefully the swears will be more positive in nature like "It's about f-ing time!"
  10. I was thoroughly dismayed by the first inning. I was ready to say pull the plug or whatever other euphanism for giving up on him I could think of. But, he looked very good for the next five innings. It seemed like he just found it, whatever "it" is. So, I'm mildly encouraged about his next start.
  11. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) Pierre LF, Vizquel 2B, Rios CF, Konerko DH, Teahen 3B, Quentin RF, Kotsay 1B, Pierzynski C, Ramirez SS. Aside from Vizquel and maybe Kotsay, I like it.
  12. The Sox could try to sweeten a contract extention by promising to call him King Fielder in lieu of extra money.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) Do we leave Jones in the OF with Q and Rios and make Pierre a bench player? Sign me up. Well, if the Sox were to impose some weight restrictions on Fielder and he were limited in his meals, he may just devour Pierre as a seventh inning stretch snack. Problem solved.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) Hey man, my threads got us the only 3 game winning streak this year! Maybe we should delete this thread and start over?
  15. True, one guy can't make all the difference with his bat, but his presence can make a huge difference. If KW does make such a move and brings in a Fielder-type guy, I would be willing to bet that the entire club would be energized...as would the fans.
  16. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:09 AM) So many details left out of this gamethread but because its heads I will be alright and not make a fuss about this horrible thread. If Peavy pitches well and the Sox win tonight, maybe all game threads will have to be of minimalist character.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 08:57 AM) Wow, that is amazing. Do I sense a note of sarcasm?
  18. Hopefully we see the real Jake Peavy tonight.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:47 AM) If the Sox are making a playoff run, they aren't trading Danks or Floyd. I could see Danks in a deal if the Sox were out of it, but then they would have to have an extention in hand for Fielder. I agree. Danks and Floyd were steals, and there's no way either one is going anywhere if the Sox are in it. A move like that wouldn't make any sense. And if they're out of it, why would they even consider going after Fielder? He'd only be a rental for 2011.
  20. Oh, it would be tempting. I'm not sure about the Rios idea, though. I wouldn't think that even freeing up his salary would be enough to sign Fielder to a long term contract. He will command (and get) at least $20 million a season. But, what if the Sox do not re-sign Konerko and AJ? Would that even be enough? I honestly don't see the Sox ever signing someone for that much money.
  21. I'm generally a nice guy, and I always tend to give the likes of Kotsay, Pierre, etc. the benefit of the doubt. But, I am thoroughly disgusted by the performance of Pierre so far. Right now he's nothing more than a rally killer. Not that a lead-off single is a rally, but I watched him eliminate Teahen's lead-off yesterday by slapping a harmless grounder to the pitcher...a hit that a Pinto level little leaguer could field easily. I'd like to think he'll get better and start getting on base and stop being useless, but I'm getting more and more convinced that won't happen.
  22. I was in the Coast Guard stationed in Baltimore, and she was working for the DOT (in the Chicago office) as an auditor. I was attending a class she was auditing. I asked her to dinner and to "show her around Baltimore" the second day of class. We were engaged 3 months later and married less than a year after that. It was a long distance relationship until I got transferred to Chicago a month before the wedding.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) Timo would be worth about 5 wins minimum. Just sitting on the bench next to cora would net at least one win, but if you let him actually hit and play the field regularly? shoot, this team may be undefeated Plus you could hear Hawk yelling "Come on, Timo! Come on, Timo!" again.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 03:35 PM) I second the Olivio vote. I think there's real concern right now for AJ. It seems that he's in more than just a slump. I wouldn't mind seeing Olivo, either.
