QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) How can an episode be termed "great" if half of it is excruciatingly boring and utterly pointless? The on-the-island stuff was solid I guess but when I just don't give a s*** about the alt. story and it drags like it did today I can't bring myself to grade the episode any higher than a "meh". except the alt is sort of all coming together... to what i have no idea... on island was friggin great - between clair getting the go-ahead to kill kate, widmore being a good guy, the return of desmond, and potentially most importantly, the return of the electromagnetism question. next week will be awesome.

My first Fantasy baseball draft ever
Reddy replied to DrunkBomber's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 12:25 PM) Any help with some lesser known closers or stolen base guys I would be able to trade for? I think I have enough depth at SP where I could trade one or two, not sure how much value my hitters after my top 5-6 have. dont trade any pitchers, you actually don't have much depth there. typically i use almost, if not all of my bench spots for pitchers so you can rotate starters. is it a day by day or weekly league? -
QUOTE (SockMe @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) hmmm I thought De Aza would make it. i really wish there were room for him. we could use a good defensive sub who can run the bases...

got my Chest and Back in, and ugh, I HATE coming back after missing a week or two - it's just brutal. Numbers were not great at all and had to use the chair for some pullups in round 2, but it was good to get back in gear. Plyo tomorrow.

ugggggggggggggh totally fell off the wagon the last week and a half. ton of s*** just got thrown at me at once. fortunately that s*** culminated with me getting fired from my job so... more time to work out! ... i'm gonna get back on monday and hit it as hard as I can.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) I can't imagine Sweaty Freddy is partaking in the same idea of "working on pitches" like Peavy, Buehrle, Danks, and Floyd are/might be doing. I would think he should actually be trying to hold down that #5 spot for as long as he can before Hudson snatches it away. And if that's the case, his spring numbers aren't encouraging. yeah i'm not convinced freddy fits the mold we were talking about above... i mean, he's just not that great anymore - he'll have days like this one.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) Uh, let me think about that. NO. It means you also work on your pitch location and you do try to get guys out and not just throw fastballs. and if, for instance, jake peavy WAS just throwing mostly fastballs, what would you call that? it's called practice. whether it's hitting spots, or working on certain pitches, it's practice. Danks was quoted as saying he thew nothing but curveballs to a guy who eventually took him deep the other day - AND said he wouldn't have done that in an actual game. these guys are fine. chill out.

why is this show not LEADING to anything??? nothing seems connected, every episode seems like it's own little vignette that isn't tied to the others. so f***ing frustrating.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Terrible terrible explanations BTW. This show is "Lost." My theory is that they alternate reality will show what happens if Jacob never existed, were they better off without the island. Either that or its going to show that no matter what lifeline they followed, they are always going back to the island somehow. i think it's option 2.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) Jake Peavy totaled his car when he was rear ended last night. His only injury was a cut on his neck by the seatbelt. He dodged a bullet. damn. thank god he's ok.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) Ah, don't say that. I have run multiple half-marathons and two full marathons. First, once you legs feel normal and you start running again, you'll be back to good thinking you can run all the time again. Second, the pace you would run your full marathon is likely two minutes per mile slower, if not a little more. It's normal to say that right after a race, I do all the time haha. In a week, you'll start thinking about the next race. CONGRATS THOUGH!! first of all, i love your sig. perfection. i was considering doing the Chicago Marathon this year, or at least half, but a good friend's getting married that day so it doesn't look like it's in the cards... maybe next year.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) No way, it is worth it for the energy boost alone. If you can find time to do it in the morning before work/school, you will feel better all day. I have felt just generally better since starting it. Even if you don't have time to do it in the mornings (which often haven't) the results have been worth it. I have already increased my pullups, pushups, and stamina and I am only at the end of my 2nd week/beginning of third. isn't it great? it's amazing how quickly you start seeing results, and more importantly, start FEELING the results. Did my L+B tonight and decided to listen to tony this time and forget about the numbers, so I made sure I was going ALL the way down on the pullups and all the way back up. Not allowing myself a cheat rep here and there. And man, it was good. Only (and I love that I can say only) did 71, but it was a good, working, 71. Trying to decide whether to do C+B tomorrow or a cardio. Normally I do L+B over the weekend, but i had a craaaazy weekend but didn't want to skip it. Maybe I'll pull a double... if I'm feeling beastly enough.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) De Aza has looked pretty good. I think I want him on the roster. imagine having De Aza over Wise, and an almost-old-school-Andruw Jones on instead of Scott Podsednik... who knows, but this lineup just might work. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) On average, there is a magnitude 6+ earthquake somewhere in the world every 2 days or so. USGS stats. so then why is it so rare we hear about them hitting populated areas? And why do they only hit poor people?

like i said, world's about to end. 2012!

do we have it officially that it's the tibial tendon? or is this still just speculation?

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) Len Kasper just said during the game that surgery will probably keep him out for the year. what a big giant bucket of suck.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) It is a torn tibia. Most likely season ending. you know a tibia is a bone right, and cannot be torn.

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) That thread title is a little overreactive, don't you think? He twisted his ankle, he didn't "Robin Ventura" himself. The guy has quite a few years before he even sniffs the majors. nice.

ah the return of white sox baseball, and thus, the crowning of cy gorzelanny. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 06:10 PM) Between Ventura at home, Moises Alou at second, Jason Kendall at first and Cliff Floyd's arm at 1B, I'd like to be able to un-watch all 4. how about cameron and beltran in the OF? that was sick.

at least Beckham's putting on a clinic.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) Santo is paid to do his job I highly doubt Melton is even paid for christ sake he is on an internet broadcast. um he's getting paid. people don't do things in the world without getting paid for them.
