  3. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) I don't know about the rest of you, but I for one love Da Rev's posts. It's fun to read through it and find stanzas that completely contradict the aim of the "sermon" due to horribly poor word usage. It's also nice to see the determination of this guy. He always posts this stuff and always gets the same type of responses, but he just keeps on doing it anyway. You have to love that. i do?
  4. QUOTE (soxwon @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) done deal, you fools, i guess you think the sox dont have a chance huh? yep.
  5. wow ok i wrote my above post without even reading it... then i did. that is just effing... ... like you made up words and completely ditched any sense of rhyme scheme or meter or anything. like... thats not a poem, its a random jumble of words that only have one thing in common and that's that they somewhat have to do with the white sox. take this to an open mic. and invite me. please.
  6. goddamnit not again!!! why does this happen? why?
  7. wait a second - we've all missed the REAL tragedy of this situation! I bought Sox/Jays tickets in September so I could see Frank play one more time. CURSES!!!!!!!
  8. we've allowed 5 through 18 games. the second fewest in the AL has given up 11
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) Frank's legendary pouting got him unemployed. Kudos to the Blue Jays for cutting his ass. No one is bigger than the team. For those of you who think,"poor Frank", the Blue Jays are still on the hook to pay him to do nothing or play for another team looking for a crybaby DH. The team made a stand. Putting up with Frank's BS would have just cost them more problems down the road. Now he'll be someone else's problem, but you know one thing, if he outperforms what he's being paid, he will moan. If he gets his butt sat down because he's stinking up the joint, he will moan. He will cry about his paycheck until the day he's no longer playing, and even then he may do some more moaning. Just hit the ball and shut your mouth. Evidently, Frank didn't want to be there anymore, or they called his bluff, per ESPN: Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi told ESPN's Peter Gammons that the release of Thomas was "by mutual consent. He doesn't want to be here if he's not going to play much, and we don't want him to be unhappy. He handled it with class, and I appreciate that." wow whats with all the frank hate today? yeah he's had a temper throughout his career, fine. but i dont get how people can look at this situation and not think he got screwed. he made valid points - why haven't Sheff, Ortiz been benched huh? they're playing just as badly. you just dont bench a guy indefinitely after 16 games just because he's starting slowly. and frank ALWAYS starts slowly.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 09:48 AM) The could have tried to move him, and one would think that they could have got something decent from the A's or Baltimore or Devil Rays or someone. But evidently they have such big egos there that they just wanted him gone as soon as possible. exactly. it was a power play, nothing else. you dont like our policies? fine, you're gone.
  11. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) You know the Jays want to actually do something this year, right? And since Thomas has been sucking, their best option was to sit him for a bit. Stairs went 2-3 yesterday in Thomas' place. This has nothing to do with the contract, as if Thomas was actually producing he wouldn't have had a reduction in playing time. Stop being a homer. how can you say it has nothing to do with the contract? you think we should sit both paulie and thome right now? indefinitely? because thats what Gibbons told Hurt. INDEFINITELY. come on now. after 60 PAs that's just messed up.
  12. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 09:14 AM) On both sides, THomas is no saint are you kidding? i'd be pissed too if i had the chance to play a full season but the team wouldnt LET ME to save themselves money. that's just effing shady man. I think Thomas had every right to go off about it. for a guy who's career's been riddled with injury, i cant imagine it feels good to have even more time taken away from you because the organization doesn't want to honor the contract it gave you.
  13. damn. f*** the blue jays. sons of b****es. how can you do that to a legend? this has all been handled just terribly.
  14. John Edwards on the Colbert Report This is effing hilarious. My love is rekindled.
  15. man... i was drunk and asleep on the floor... but i remember looking at the clock at 4:3_ (dont remember the exact number) but maybe thats why i woke up...
  16. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 08:42 AM) Tex, you are not burning the flags as an expression of your free speech, or in an attempt to win an NEA grant. Totally different concept there, so lets move on. Why is there a need for such an experiment? Don't you already know what the reactions will be? So all you do when you do that is push buttons hoping for a reaction. WOuld you and others be so ho-hum about it were the flags Iranian or Palastinian? I guess we won't know, since the moment those flags were to hit the floor, the PC police would be all over them. Oh, and the usual beheading statements would come out, and CAIR would issue press releases, and the principal would say the school is sorry, and arrange for CAIR to give a speech at the school. What we could use is a line from the Filibuster standards in real life. 4. I will not post statements for the purpose of angering others. Apply that to 'experiments', or 'art'. This so-called experiment was pointless, and only served to piss off a bunch of people to varying degrees. While you and Jim might think some people get worked up over the flag for disingenuous reasons, for others, like the vet in the video, that flag means alot, and doing what was done is just like a personal insult to him. Political and social discourse is already at an all-time low, why push this button? no you DONT know what the reactions will be. i for one am surprised that 95-98% of students didn't step on them. That means for all the bulls*** and hate that young people spout out about this country, turns out they still have respect for it. you don't see value in that?
  17. they have the right to do it, whether you or i agree or not. that's what's great about this country.
  18. AND we're the only team in the AL to not have a blown save. BOBBY!!!
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) I know it doesn't seem like it, but coming in to tonight, the Sox actually had scored the 4th most runs in MLB. and as of tonight we've allowed the 2nd fewest runs in the AL hot.
  20. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) good game, would've liked to see more O' figuring who was throwing against us who pitches tomorrow, floyd? it'll be nice to see him face a lineup other than detroit hopefully he can continue his success. it'd be really reassuring to see another good start out of him.
  21. contreras stepping up. thats 4 ER over the last 5 games. how sexy is that?
