  1. I just cant get to work this week, Ive been slacking the whole time. I keep posting here instead of being productive.
  2. I read about that story a few weeks ago. My guess is that there are mitigating circumstances, and its not really relevant to this case.
  3. I like Brewer, but if you cant find minutes for him against the 76ers in the playoffs, he really doesnt have much use.
  4. Yeah I watch basically every single History show on unearthing the bible, etc, etc. If its a historical relic, Ive probably seen something about it, Shroud of Turin, Ark of the Covenant, Holy Grail, True Cross, Crown of Thorns, Holy Lance, etc. Just because I dont believe, doesnt mean I havent studied it. You never know when your going to have to pull out some knowledge in an argument. I like to keep people off guard with my biblical knowledge, its been helpful more than once.
  5. The only option is for Thibs and Co to create either a motion or continuity offense and get the Bulls to learn how to run it without a PG dominating the ball. The Bulls defense is good enough, they just need to work on running better offense to get them 5-10 easy baskets a game. If the other team over plays Korver/Hamilton, work on getting the ball to the screening big towards the hoop, or work on lob passes towards the hoop. Also stop using Boozer so much. The guy gets passes close to the hoop and then fades away, he just doesnt ever go up strong and dunk. The problem is they are stuck with this team for the conceivable future, so they have to design an offensive system that doesnt rely so heavily on Rose making magic.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 11, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) You've been to 60 sedars? Wow. Do you enjoy them? I thought you were a nonbeliever from your posts on this issue, but I guess u are religious too. Passover is probably my favorite holiday due to the message (which is non-religious). Passover is the theoretical history of my people, so while I do not believe in some parts, I do think that the message that the story is telling is important. In fact, there is an argument to be made that the story of passover and its message is one of the single most important ideas of humanity. That even if you are on top today, that at one point we were slaves to Pharaoh. And Passover is to make sure that we never forget where we came from, that as the children of slaves, we have an ethical obligation to ensure that no other people are treated that way, because we are not free, until all other people in the world are free. And as long as they suffer, we suffer as well. There is a simple beauty in that idea, that we should be empathetic, even to our enemies, because no one deserves to be a slave, no one deserves to be treated unfairly. Because we once were treated unfairly, and we remember every year what it was like. Its just different. You can still feel the suffering, it is ingrained into our collective memory. And it is why I am harsh on them as well, because when it comes to Palestine, they are no better than Pharaoh, taking away their land, treating them unfairly, that is no better. Just because we have suffered, does not mean we get a free pass.
  7. There are different reports about Ball. Basically "Mifflin Block Party" is the end of the year party on Mifflin Street. Its during the day, which is always a recipe for disaster, and basically the whole block is a drunken keg party. (Kegs on balconies with funnels down to the street, etc.) Allegedly the police are trying to increase security and kind of control it, so this year they were be much more aggressive with trespassing etc. The story goes that Ball was on a patio and refused to leave. On a message board a person alleged they were there, and that Ball tried to break the door down. When the police came he still refused to leave the patio even though the owner didnt want him there. There is another story that the police basically went after the football players who werent doing anything. I have no idea, I cant imagine a Wisconsin student not wanting Ball at their party, but it could be a similar thing to Kane, he was getting all the girls, drunk guys dont like that, fight starts. From what Ive read, outside of choking a girl, Kane didnt do anything that is really crazy. He went to KK, got super drunk and thrown out. Thats not a story, thats just the KK. Its a really crappy bar, only went there maybe 3 times. http://www.terezowens.com/patrick-kane-pas...-cinco-de-mayo/ Thats Kane drunk at the bar, as you can see its not really classy. I like the comment from the guy who took the pictures: ”You gotta respect a guy who goes balls out for a party."-TO And I assume this is how Kaner even found out about KK/Madison: http://www.hhof.com/htmlstcjournal/exSCJ10_28.shtml Burish was a well known regular at KK back when he was a student.
  8. It should be noted Kane was not arrested. In comparison, Montee Ball was arrested that weekend. Mifflin Street party is just insane, on Wisconsin sites they are questioning why Bielema even lets football players go out that weekend. Kane just went to a bad situation for a young millionaire. I mean I cant even comprehend that a millionaire athlete would have been at Mifflin/Madison when I was in college. That would have just been a lightning rod for trouble.
  9. Just read that Kane article, Im pretty sure last weekend was Mifflin Street party as well, so basically Madison is out of control. My guess is that there is more to this story as I have been to the KK (and thrown out) and quite frankly its a s*** show always. Im pretty sure my friend got tossed for just buying beers and pouring them on the floor because that is how drunk we were. They also took a fake from me. The oddest comment was that he was dating some Junior at Madison?
  10. It would be amazing if some how Royce White could fall to the Bulls. What sucks is Im pretty sure that the Bulls losing in the first round doesnt improve their draft, they still will be last (or 2nd to last depending on San Antonio tiebreaker) right?
  11. Yeah that is interesting then. A lot of big 10 hockey places I read alleged that ND may have turned them down. I have no idea, Im just speculating for fun about these things.
  12. Can, Yeah the "tribe" aspect of certain Jewish people can be really off putting. My sister is hilariously super Jewish, she was President of the her BBYO chapter, etc. The funniest thing is she really only wants to marry a Jewish person and raise her kids Jewish. I always find that so ironic because my dad, isnt actually religious at all and probably is an atheist.
  13. I dont think Taj could do worse than Boozer, and you gotta give him a chance to be a starter. Hes done everything thats been asked, he just deserves a shot.
  14. Yeah I am not talking culturally. Culturally I do everything, Christmas, Hannukah, high holidays, whatever.
  15. I think Zoom has said that amnestying Boozer does basically nothing as theyd still be over cap and thus only able to sign MLE anyways. If he didnt say that, sorry Zoom!
  16. Thats because Im not really anything. My father is Jewish, my mother is Catholic. Im not really a Jew because my mother isnt a Jew and Judaism is maternal, therefore some Jews would never actually consider me a real Jew. Im not really a Christian, so I basically fit no where. I generally dont make a big deal about it because I dont really care about people's religions. When half your family is Jewish and half is Christian, its just impossible to take hard lines in the sand, because either way your condemning people you care about.
  17. I know people who work for the Big 10 conference. As for the hockey conference, Ive read it both ways, some say ND turned down an offer, some say Big never made it. Its really hard to tell because ND and the Big play things pretty close to the vest.
  18. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) The regular season means jack s***. Cleveland was the #1 seed twice, do you see anyone giving Lebron a break because of that? There's a big difference between steam-rolling the Clevelands and Detroits of the league and occasionally beating someone good and winning several 7-game series against other playoff teams. The Bulls are well equipped to win in the regular season because they play hard almost every night and have depth. In the playoffs, everyone plays hard and nearly every team has guys that can make plays. It's a totally different animal, which is why the banged up Bulls didn't prevail like they did for much of the regular season. You dont know s*** Zoom, you watch college basketball like me. I agree with what your saying and this series opened my eyes. I used to argue against J4l and you that the Bulls depth, etc, would really be a big factor. The problem is that you dont really need that much depth in the playoffs unless you get injured and if you get injured your screwed anyway. J4L, And being healthy sometimes means you rest guys more minutes in the regular season and you dont just grind them so hard their is nothing left in the playoffs. The conundrum for the Bulls is Im not sure if they can beat the Heat if the Heat have HC. So they need to play the regular season much harder to give them that advantage. Ss2k, The Bulls are in a bind because of Boozer. There just are no good options, I guess Id have to see what the offer for Noah was.
  19. To be fair, there is an underlying issue with Christianity that does come through in my posts. I try to stay fair and not just rant, but it is really really hard. When parts of your family has been persecuted, murdered, because of Christianity, you just have a different perspective. I dont dislike people, not everyone is responsible, but when the acts are done in the name of the faith, what else can you blame but the faith? It wasnt just a few random individuals either. Anyone can believe what they want, and just because someone is a Christian doesnt mean I dont like them or think less of them. It just is that I dont like what their faith has done in the past and sometimes I dont like what the faith does in the present either.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:38 AM) There are a lot of people who believe in God and also believe in the Big Bang and everything that comes after that. Most people on this board apparently think that's a ridiculous thing to believe. I hope you dont put me in that category. I am absolutely fine with Deism.
  21. QUOTE (vandy125 @ May 11, 2012 -> 08:33 AM) I think it flows beautifully from the old to the new testament. If you really want to actually discuss that sort of thing and are actually interested, I could more easily do it through PMs where I can give references to different things that come up. For instance, there are some fascinating traits of some Jewish customs in particular with passover dinner that point directly to a Triune God as well as to Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection (if at all familiar, think of the 3 matzahs). I didn't get a chance to study Judaism while in college (mainly Islam, Christianity, and Eastern Religions), but I think it would be pretty cool study to see the all of the connections. I have been to 60 sedars in my life, I have never once heard any reference to the Matzah/Afikomen as a reference to Triune god. In fact the 3 matzahs are basically meaningless outside of the Afikomen, and I couldnt even begin to try and explain how the desert Matzah would relate to Christianity. In fact, the last piece of Matzah may even be a substitute for Lamb, as it was no longer allowed to be sacrificed after the fall of the First Temple. At a Sedar, they dont even discuss the 3 pieces all that is discussed is the Afikomen (desert piece) and how the Sedar can not end until it is found and eaten. Generally Jews believe the 3 pieces of Matzah stand for the 3 classes in Jewish society, 1) the priests, 2) priest assistants and 3) the remaining members others believe it represents the 3 temples. It should also be noted that not every Jewish Sedar has to have 3 pieces, it is just tradition. The reason that this is important is because the Sedar is basically the Haggadah. So if 3 pieces was an integral part of the ritual, it would have been written in the Haggadah, the same way that that the Karpas, Maror, Charoest etc is specifically mentioned. Here is from Jewfaq: http://www.jewfaq.org/holidaya.htm The key point you made was you havent studied Judaism. If you study Christianity, they basically try and backwards engineer the connection to Judaism. If you study Judaism you are shown how they are absolutely not compatible.
  22. I really dont want the bulls to trade Noah, they really need to get the scorer through the draft some how. The Bulls killed themselves with Boozer. Ive hated that signing every day.
  23. Most Big alumni I know dont care or want ND anymore. A lot of people believe that ship has sailed and unless ND comes and asks to join the Big they are going to move on without them. Although you always hear rumors that ND is going to join, so who knows. For example, ND wouldnt even join the Big 10 hockey conference, which would have been a natural stepping stone. It really depends on if the ACC falls apart, because if it doesnt, I dont think the Big adds teams for a while.
  24. QUOTE (kev211 @ May 11, 2012 -> 03:43 AM) Sorry, I don't care how biased this sounds, but if the Bulls play with a healthy Rose, Deng, Hamilton, Noah which they didn't do ONCE this entire season they are the best team in the NBA by far and would have ran away with the title. Anyone who disagrees I really do not care, we just had the best record in the NBA with not one game this entire season fully healthy, and would have ran away with the title. The only team who would have posed a challenge is the thunder since Miami isn't really that good as I stated in January(don't feel like finding that post but I said it) It just sucks knowing what SHOULD have been Edit: Also as mean as this sounds stop posting in this thread thinking you're mister know it all(because that is literally all you've been doing), you've openly admitted to not watching the NBA until early April because of NCAA garbage basketball. Because of this your opinion is almost worthless. Sorry for having an opinion, I watched 50+ Bulls games this season, I would think that is watching enough basketball. As for your NCAA comment, perhaps you should watch some, because you would learn about basketball. Right you keep talking about the "PERFECT" conditions for the Bulls winning. Everyone has to be healthy, sorry I dont play that game. I work in an industry where you prepare for the WORST and hope for the best. So when you talk about beating the Heat and winning the NBA Championship, I am not going to just hope the stars align and every one of my players is completely healthy, that is just unrealistic. Injuries are going to occur, over the last 2 years not once have the Bulls been really completely healthy, so we can take 2 positions. You take position 1) Well since they werent healthy for the last 2 years, they are bound to be healthy next year. I take position 2) since they have never been healthy, the chances that they are 100% healthy next year are negligible (you know having Rose and Deng both coming off of surgery) so the Bulls need to get better because they cant just hope to be healthy. Disagree with that, agree with that, but what is funny, is you say I dont know anything about the NBA, yet you dont even point out what I said was wrong? Maybe it was complaining about Thibs use of Taj starting in game 2, maybe it was my comment that Asik was dead tired and the Bulls may need to give him a rest in the 4th, maybe it was my comment that CJ Watson's pass to Asik was one of the dumbest basketball plays Ive seen, maybe it was the comment about why Thibs didnt call a player over and tell them that at least 3 players need to be focusing on preventing an easy break away with 7 seconds left. I dont know, I guess I just dont take solace in the excuse of injuries. Injuries happen, but they dont excuse many of the things that have occurred with the Bulls. So if you just blindly put on injuries, the Bulls are going to be in the damn same spot the next 2 years. They need to learn from this, they need to see that they are way to reliant on Rose bailing them out, that they need to have a more pass oriented offense, not just have a PG stand at the top and pound the rock. You want to argue about how the Bulls shouldnt be doing those things, about how because I only watched 50 games I dont know what Im talking about. Go ahead and tell me, tell me how this Bulls team, with an aging Rip, with Deng/Rose coming off of surgery, is just going to be better next year because they are healthy. That just seems to be hoping and wishing, and that is a waste of time, when you can actually go and make improvements. Simple things that can help the Bulls going forward. You dont want to make those changes, fine, but dont say it has anything to do with how much NBA I watch, or any of that weak sauce. Chisox, I do blame the players, I just am tired of hearing that it was only because of injuries and Thibs always getting free passes because they win a lot of games. 2 years in a row the best record, lost 4-1 to the Heat year 1 and beat in 1st round the second year. Im sorry but when Rose went down, I was arguing that the Bulls could still face Miami. I mean why not? Not for one second did I watch this series and think that the Bulls just didnt have the talent. I watched the series and wondered what the hell was going on with the use of the Bulls talent. For example, its game 6, why is Taj not starting? He is your spark, your energy, get him out there and try and get an early lead. Pressure the 76ers early, get the game out of hand. What about game 3 when Taj was on the bench the entire first quarter and the Bulls got down 10? If you read my posts, I always say #1 is Watson. I just am really concerned about beating Miami. I doubt the Bulls get the #1 seed next year, so already the stars arent aligned. In a series where Miami has potentially 4 home games, the Bulls are going to have to play even better. You just cant have a coach holding them back. There just is no explanation.
  25. The comment was Christianity compared to Judaism. Before Christianity there was no such as thing as father, son, holy ghost, there was no devil, there was no god on earth, there was no resurrection, there were stories of an all powerful god. When you compare the figure Moses to Jesus, its just such a difference. All of Moses power derived from God, he lived like what 150 years, he was able to use magic, yet he is not a God, he was just a man who freed the Jews from Egypt. He is not considered a God because of the First Commandment, Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods before me. Furthermore, Moses is fallible, and is punished by being banned from Israel, even thought he did so much good for the Israelites Yet Jesus, who does not even free the Jews from the Romans (the entire point of the Messiah) is considered a God. This is not even getting into Saints performing miracles, tithing or even touching half the books in the Bible. Jumping the Shark means that everything has been done so you have to come up with something ridiculous, ie Fonzi jumping the shark as a Happy Day's plot. If you were to watch a TV show that was "Old Testament" and one day it changed to "New Testament", it would be a jumping the shark moment. It fundamentally alters the entire premise of the religion in a way that (imo) just is not reconcilable with the Old Testament. All of a sudden it goes from having this prankster vengeful God who interacts with random humans, to a God who has a son who dies for everyone's sin, even though for the first thousand episodes that plot line was never mentioned. If God was so pissed about the Original Sin, why did he seemingly get over it and then punish humans for a bunch of other random things, never bringing up Adam and Eve again? Its not like in the middle of flooding the Earth he starts to b****ing to Noah about Eve. When hes killing all of the Egpytians and drowning them in the Red Sea, he never seems to tell Moses that it really doesnt matter because youre all screwed. Its just a completely different show based on plot lines that would be unimaginable if you were living in the Old Testament show.
