  1. Well the TO part is unreliable. If he did OD, then any statement he made would be dazed and confused. He already stated he had no memory of the questions asked, so how reliable is his response "yes". For all we know he thought they asked "Are you the best WR in the world." As for the publicist, once again, there is a large gap in proof. What the police report tells, is what peoples first reactions were, not necessarily what the facts are going to report in the end. It is also very bizarre that it was termed a suicide attempt, prior to any sort of toxicology reports being released, etc. That would be were you could find facts. How many pills were found in his stomach, was it enough to be a suicide attempt, or was it a minimal level? Were their signs of allergic reaction? Now because this is not a criminal matter, none of these facts will ever come to the public. But if this was a real criminal matter, they would have never let that report leak. In the end, this in my opinion is a case of the media creating a story.
  2. Police report is hearsay. It is so unreliable that it can not even be used in an Illinois court case. To explain, The report is based on different levels of hearsay. The officers ask people at the scene what happened. The officers have no personal knowledge as they were not there to witness what happened. The fact it was so quickly edited and retracted further suggests how unreliable it is.
  3. Im gonna have to call this a case of the media selling a story. How many people tuned into their shows because "To tried to kill himself" instead of "TO had an allergic reaction." If TO did have a reaction, then its impossible to use his words against him. He clearly was out of it, and according to him does not even remember any of the questions that were asked. I have seen people react very poorly to hydrocodone, to the point where they were so ill that they needed to be hospitalized. Whether or not this happened to TO, we will never know. But the fact that everyone was so quick to retract, makes me think that there were quite a few leaps to conclusion, instead of hard facts. In the end the only people who really know are TO, and maybe his publicist. The fact TO practiced today suggests that it looks more like a mistake, then something that was truely bothering him.
  4. So how are you going to get across that you are just booing the lack of play, not booing the ownership/etc? That is the problem, it will leave a sour taste in everyones mouth. You might as well just cheer as loud as possible, because maybe some of those players/coaches will feel guilty for the performance they gave to the fans. Where as if you boo them, they might just be like "who the f*** cares." Some times the better team just does not make the playoffs, and the Sox have beat the Tigers straight up. The problem is that the manager has laid so many eggs this season. You want to boo some one, boo Guillen for disrespecting Frank and then watching him sink the Sox.
  5. Yeah I think booing is a grand idea. The White Sox ownership finally opens it pockets tries to bring back to back championships (see Marlins for how a team could react to a WS title) and the fans are going to boo them. I see this going over real well. I hope you can sense the sarcasm.
  6. I think that you have to give MB a chance next year. It was the first time any of the Sox starters had pitched that much in the playoffs, and its clear that none of them have the same stuff.
  7. Leuer has committed to the Wisconsin Badgers. http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/sports/ind...130&ntpid=1 In football news, supposedly in the Wisconsin- San Diego State game a graphic was put on the screen saying that John Clay and Kyle Jefferson (WR) as VERBAL COMMITMENTS to Wisconsin. If this is the case it would be huge for Wisconsin to make sure that Clay does not leave the state. There have been a lot of rumors of him going to OSU, but so far nothing is set in stone.
  8. Ricardo "No Neck" Pastrana of course Kalapse.
  9. No. Last year the Sox never dropped past 1st place, even when they were slumping they still had: 1) The best record 2) Were 1 in their divison. When they made the playoffs, that is a clean slate 0-0. I have no doubt that if the Sox can make it to the playoffs this year that they can do damage. The playoffs are a clean slate, you get to start with the line: "Everything that has happened so far this year does not matter. All that matters is what you do today." Last year was easy, every day Ozzie could come in and say: "You are the best team, with the best record, all you have to do is go out and play that way." This year we are none of those, and since the Sox have fallen from 1st, they have lost their swagger and ability.
  10. It is very easy to lead when you are winning. But it takes a truly great leader to be able to bring back a team that has been losing. Last year we saw scenario 1, this year we are seeing that Ozzie is not the type of leader in scenario 2. I just do not see him as the type of manager who can right the ship when the chips are down. He has passion, but at a certain point passion can only take you so far. Ozzie just seems defeated, and that is something that a great leader can never show.
  11. You see what guys are made of in April, May, June, July, August. You play to win in September and October. Ozzie has to realize this.
  12. Outside of the players and coaches the superstition just does not apply. I was at a game where Santana was pitching and he was perfect for a while, I kept saying it as much as possible. Strangely nothing ever happened until I basically stopped doing it, and then he gave up a hit. So am i to believe if only I would of kept talking about it he would of continued to be perfect? Silly Jay writing sports articles is for grown ups.
  13. They will make it. (Double posted for emphasis)
  14. I predict the White Sox are elimated after they win the World Series.
  15. Rock, I was being sarcastic about blaming Owens. He did what you should do, he started off at the pitch, when contact was made he stopped and located the ball. It was hit directly at Vlad, so it was really hard to read whether he would get it or not. At first I thought he had it for sure, then it seemed like he lost it for a second. Maybe with a different fielder Owens had a chance to score but with Vlad's arm and 1 out you have to stop at 3rd and hope for a sac.
  16. Jerry Owens almost cost us by being to aggressive on that play. Why would you want him running with 1 out and a line drive hit at one of the better RF's? Anyways cant win em all if the Sox win every series from here on out I think they have a playoff spot.
  17. No, what I am suggesting is that there is no way to prove that there is a correlation between Bonds decline this year and his lack of using steriods. Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that in general the scientific community did not conclusively agree that steriod use would help you hit the ball farther.
  18. Bonds is also older and injured compared to his record breaking season. But those couldnt be the reasons for his decline. Frank Thomas is on the juice, I mean how else could he have such a turn around. Oh he was injured last year. I forgot injuries can negatively affect a players stats.
  19. Bonds has always had amazing eyesight. He can see the catcher giving the pitcher signs from the outfield, part of the reason he is such a good baseball player is attributed to the fact that he has always had better than 20/20 eyesight.
  20. Bonds never was caught cheating. Therefore you cant give him an * or any other bulls*** all these people want. How come I dont hear for * next to caught cheaters, like Sosa. Why dont we hear about * next to Big Mac. People just need to get over themselves, Bonds is not the biggest cheater ever. That is one of the most ludicrous statements I have ever heard. First, cheating implies that he broke some sort of rule. In order to break a rule, a rule must be in effect. How can Bonds have cheated when he broke no MLB rule? It would be like saying the White Sox cheated last year, if in 2 years MLB passes a rule that says it is against the rules to have a manager named Ozzie. Would the Sox then get an *? Of course not, American society does not accept ex post facto laws or rules.
  21. Honestly are you bringing stats to a Vazquez discussion? Are you unaware that the only reason he is winning is because of his run support, he has never pitched a good game for the White Sox and Brandon McCarthy is 100million times better and if he started we would already have clinched being in the playoffs and the whole world series would be cancelled because they would just give the Sox the trophy. End argument.
  22. A lot can change in a month. Plus the risk of having Javy in the pen is that he may never pitch a meaningful inning. Right now I think that Garcia would have to be the guy going to the pen, because he is just to inconsistent. Also in the pen he would be able to let his fastball go and maybe he would regain some of the lost velocity and be a better pitcher. If the Sox make the playoffs, their success will greatly depend on the games Javy starts. Personally I believe in Javy, and I have for the entire season even when most people wanted to ship him off for nothing. If he gets comfortable, which he seems to be finally getting in Chicago, we may have one of the top starters in the playoffs.
  23. No there is a risk, but if you trade them with expiring contracts and off of this season you are going to get very little on your return. Unless a great deal comes around, I just do not think you will get very much for a guy like Garcia. Otherwise if the Sox trade a starter, they will have to replace them, which most likely would mean either a free agent or trading, and right now that seems far more risky than just waiting and seeing if perhaps some of the pitchers had dead arm from the long run last year.
  24. Im so sick of seeing McCarthy its not even funny. On the other hand whenever Javy goes out Im pretty optimistic. If I had to chose which Sox starter to put out in order of confidence right now it would be, Garland, Javy, Contreras/MB, Freddy, and honestly outside of the top 2 I wouldnt be that happy. At this point I think B-Mac has been set back about a year, he needs to go down to AAA next season and start exclusively. The Sox can not take a risk trading a starter and hoping that Brandon in a different role will be a "good" Brandon.
