  1. Manuel and Guillen are completely different types of managers, its basically comparing apples and oranges. Now the guy I wanted for the Sox job was Leyland, and i think that it would be hard to argue Ozzie is better than him. Ozzie brings fire to a club, but it can only take you so far. Some times you need a tactician, and for better or worse Ozzie still does not have that aspect of the game down.
  2. Being in a 14 team league really made my draft difficult. Also didnt help I had the 11th pick: 1. (11) E. James RB 2. (18) W. McGahee RB 3. (39) D. Jackson WR 4. (46) M. Bulger QB 5. (67) J. Lewis RB 6. (74) L. Evans WR 7. (95) L. Coles WR 8. (102) K. Warner QB 9. (123) Baltimore DEF 10. (130) S. Graham K 11. (151) Ma. Clayton WR 12. (158) D. Givens WR 13. (179) K. Winslow TE 14. (186) M. Turner RB 15. (207) C. Frye QB 16. (214) C. Rogers WR 17. (235) B. Franks TE I dropped Franks and picked up Lundy already.
  3. Did you honestly just bring stats to a Vazquez discussion? Are you not aware that he sucks. Every year there is a new scapegoat, this year its Vazquez. I mean where was the "B-Mac lost another game" thread after last night. Oh yeah every one is an apologist when it comes to him: "he takes a while to get ready", "hes not getting consistent work". Where are the: "Some times it takes a pitcher a year to get settled in a new league and new ballpark" threads? Anyways I like Javy and basically feel that if he can get comfortable with the Sox and the AL he will become one of our best pitchers for a few years.
  4. The Dream Team was just far more talented. Teams could have played them in zone and still would of lost by 20-30.
  5. I have a feeling right now Hendry is more worried about how he is going to save his own team from being crappy again next year, than worrying about trying to help AL Central teams.
  6. SSI, Which teams are you calling "good offenses" Cause I see the Yanks, 2 er. Most of the other teams he faced multiple times and some times did good, some times did bad. Apr. 14 TOR L 13-7 6.0 9 7 7 1 1 4 Jul. 5 @TOR W 7-1 8.0 2 1 1 1 2 13
  7. lol "Nice Walk" Runner on 3rd with 1 out. You always are careful because a walk only sets up the double play. But im sure youd rather him throw a strike for a sac fly and the sox down 2-1?
  8. SSI, As I already said, in his first 6 wins he gave up less than 3 runs every game What is wrong with that? So lets round, 50% of his wins hes done good, 50% hes been carried by the offense. So what, hes not Johan.
  9. When Javy turns around, which he will because he has all the talent just needs to get more comfortable in his surroundings, I dont want to see a bunch of Sox fans start to cheer him like Dye, Garland, Thome, and the rest. f***ing man up, if you dislike a player dont f***ing change as soon as he gets over the bad parts. Javy had a hell of a first 2 months, and has had trouble. There are plenty of reasons for it, but in the end, I would rather have Javy out there than most teams sp's. So Im going to support him because I know he has the capability. But you can go ahead, tell me about Jeremy Reed and how KW got fleeced for giving him up. Or maybe about Borchard, how could the Sox think Thorton would turn around. We were losers with Contreras he was terrible for the half a year. It takes time.
  10. Fathom, Its not manning up. Its statistics. You are not going to win many games when your team only scores 3 or less regardless of what pitcher is on the hill. Javy keeps the Sox in games, that is the job of a pitcher. If the Sox offense cant score more than 3 runs today, they dont deserve to win.
  11. Javy didnt need run support to start the season. WTF are you talking about Its not his fault the Sox decided to score 10 runs on days when he held teams to 3 and then they score 2 when he gives up 5.
  12. Go check the stats lol In those 6 wins he never gave up more than 3 runs Do you even watch the Sox play or just make s*** up?
  13. Vazquez is a loser with 11 wins. I wonder where the Sox would be without Javy's 6 wins in the first 2 months.
  14. Ive been watching Javy ever since he came into the MLB. Unlike most fans I just dont trash players for no reason. From what I can recall the Sox gave TB an extra out that inning with the pop up and Javy only gave up 1 run. Boo f***ing hoo Tell me how great Chris Young is again.
  15. If the Sox dont score 4 runs against TB they dont deserve to win regardless of what Javy does. So far his era is under 3 for this game.
  16. Honestly from the reactions here it would appear the Sox have given up 10 runs, not 1. Every pitcher on the Sox has had trouble you cant just pull them all after the first run they give up.
  17. Heads. I was gonna list more but I wasnt sure how bad people reacted to them. Garland I feel has gotten the worst, where people just basically wanted to give him away for most of his career. Then next is Dye aka "Dead". Its just hilarious to always read these "X needs to get traded" threads.
  18. SS2k, If we did what this board wanted we wouldnt have: Konerko Garland Dye Vazquez
  19. Than that says a lot about the player. Id rather have a general on the floor than a salesmen in the living room. And I think Webers biggest flaw as a recruiter is that he does not have a "destination school."
  20. Right. But the logic fails because: Why would Rose not be interested in Illinois? Lets give IU the benefit of the doubt and say right now its 50/50 Gordon goes to IU or Illinois. There would have to be some reason why Illinois is not on the list, while IU is. When you start comparing the programs etc, the thing that ties everyone of those programs on his list just happens to be the same parent company. It just seems very strange that if a playing with another player is part of his decision, why he would not atleast list the school where the player currently is verballed. It hurts no one to list it. I just cant trust a guy who tries to pretend like Reebok and Adidas are seperate entites, and that "hes never seen an Adidas person". Well I hate to say it but every Reebok person has been technically an "Adidas person". Its like going to a Lexus dealership and saying "I dont see any Toyata's here". {Edit} And as for Gordon leaving, I have no idea. But if it is true, Illinois better start working hard to figure out what the hell is happening.
  21. There is something amiss though. If you read the article, there is somewhat of a problem with their logic. They say the reason Indiana is on the list is because Eric Gordon. But isnt Eric Gordon going to Illinois, so wouldnt Illinois atleast be on the list? Basically the guy is lieing in my opinion. And Im not an Illinois, IU, or any of those other teams fan.
  22. For so long people have tried to ship Garland out of town. Even after last year, he was the first person people wanted to see gone this off-season. Perhaps the greatest break the Sox got this year was when they signed Garland there was a no trade clause for this year. Because basically without Garland the Sox would be around 5 games out of the WC, let alone challanging for a division.
  23. Whenever a Sox player plays me in fantasy they go insane. This week Dye.
  24. I think it would be hard to argue that Ozzie is a very good in game manager. Even last year he was not that amazing, but that is not what he brings to the table. Ozzie is an emotional manager, the type of leader that gets his players to give everything for him. So far the team has not quit on him, and probably he has kept them intense and in the division race eventhough they have not lived up to many fans expectations. And the comparisons to Baker are some what off, Ozzie does play young guys, they gave BA the starters role for CF something Baker would have never allowed. The whole B-Mac thing is for debate, some think he is ready to start full time, others do not. Anyways hopefully he can keep them emotionally in it until the end.
