:headshake As a huge fan of Joe Dumars, as well as being a mang who has watched close to 100 Pistons games over the last two years, well..... :headshake

I can live with that. We'll see how Banks, Welsch, Perkins, and Hunter work out.

Antoine Walker, Walter McCarty, etc. There's someone else in this group, but I just can't think of his name. Also, they like the oversized power forwards/undersized centers (Raef Lafrentz, Tony Battie, etc). And how could they acquire a guy like Ricky Davis, a true scumbag if there ever was one? There is so much more, but I'd have to do an internet search. How many draft picks with the exception of Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker have worked out over the past decade or so? They are the greatest organization in the history of sports, perhaps (Canadiens and Yankees are right there with them). But over the last decade or so, they've been one of the dumbest organizations in the NBA. It's a shame that McHale and Bird go elsewhere & both of their teams reach the conference finals this year while the Celtics are in shambles.

Yeah, it's insane.

They keep drafting oversized small forwards/undersized power forwards.

Lindsey is one of the best on the ball defenders in the league. Doug Collins said that he was one of the top five in the NBA, although I wouldn't go as far as to say that. He is damn good, though. The Celtics are just a dumb organization these days. Orlando, Washington, and Milwaukee had Ben Wallace riding the bench for a while there. Stupid organizations. They just don't know what it takes to win. It's all so simple.

The experts can go to hell. Pistons in 7. You have to defend Kobe the way that teams used to defend Jordan with small defensive-minded guards like Gary Payton, Kevin Johnson, John Starks, etc. There's a man on the Pistons who fits this profile, and his name is Lindsey Hunter. The Sun Times said that the Lakers bench is better, but that's bulls***. Wow, Kareem Rush can hit a few threes and Derek Fisher is a good actor. Rick Fox is crap. That bench sucks, IMO.

How many times have the Sox...
hammerhead johnson replied to whitesox61382's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I expect the Sox to have a great record at home. 50-31, perhaps. That means we could go 40-41 on the road and still win 90 games. And if Loaiza, Buehrle, Garland, and Schoeneweis continue to pitch like this on the road (with a combined 2.50 ERA on this west coast trip thus far), we'll win more than 90 games. Remember, we still get to play like 50 more games against the likes of Detroit, Cleveland, and Kansas City. There is nothing to b**** and moan about. However, if you want to talk s*** about Koch, be my guest. -
Yeah, but... I don't care about his defense. I just want a qualified pinch hitter to come off the bench when the latter part of our order is due up in the 9th inning.

How many times have the Sox...

I don't know. Maybe it's just me. But I like the fact that we've had an opportunity to win every one of these games so far on this trip. It sure as hell beats getting slammed like 23 to 2 or whatever the scores were last year and the year before. Lighten up. Our starting pitching has been phenomenal on this trip. Their combined ERA would probably be below 2.00 if not for that home run that Schoeneweis served up to Boone. -
In a situation like that we could use a player who can get good wood on the ball, no matter what. Someone with experience. We should try to get that guy who beat down that sausage in Milwaukee. Brutally, I might add. You know who I'm referring to.

Carlos ranks 51st overall in the American League in Slugging Percentage. Chone Figgins and Alex Sanchez have highers Slugging Percentages. But he has hit so many long drives that were just foul or shy by a couple feet. It's unbelievable.

What really sucks about the timing of Maggs injury
hammerhead johnson replied to sox-r-us's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Pistons I can't wait until Sunday. -
I don't think that Benny did much homework on this one. I'd get him strictly for pinch hitting. He never strikes out.

Hey, good luck! I wish that I could offer some advice, but I don't know jack s***!

Batting Around with Willie Harris
hammerhead johnson replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, Willie is definitely one cool muhf***a. -
You just answered your own question. Small ball against Mulder? Hell yes. Small ball against Rhodes?

Actually, check that. I found a new anthem for Billy Bob. Billy was a man Who thought he was a loner, But he knew it couldn't last. Billy left his home In Tucson, Arizona, For some US Cellular grass. Get back. Get back. Get back to where you once belonged. Get back. Get back. Get back to where you once belonged. Get back, Billy. Get back. Get back. Get back to where you once belonged. Get back. Get back. Get back to where you once belonged. Get back, Billy.

"Come back and get him, Billy." That Hawk quote right there pretty much sums up Koch's tenure with the White Sox. His anthem should be that Alice In Chains track "Down In A Hole".
-
Haha That's probably what people were saying about Buehrle last year. Piniero has a s***load of talent. Anyone who thinks otherwise has no business entering a discussion about pitching.
-
Well, when this sort of thing happens in the playoffs, then maybe it will hit home with a lot of people who are backing Koch. Because if you can't close out a 2-1 ace vs ace game, then you have no balls, and I don't want you on my team. It's as simple as that. 14 runners stranded? That's what happens when you're facing an ace. We were lucky to even get that many men on base. I can't blame guys for failing to come through against Mulder. I can blame the closer who gets behind in the count against hitters just about EVERY FREAKING TIME, however.
