QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) I honestly watch every single Bulls game and have grown tired of 5 years of upside and am ready for results. Again, it's important to have patience with such a young player. And I don't know if you go out of your way to read much, or if you're reading the right sources, but all the right people have Tyson down as a defensive monster in the near future.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) Brace yourself for the altered shot argument. Never mind how often his weak frame gets pushed around. Weak frame in comparison to a lot of these gargantuan space-wasting centers in the NBA? I agree. He's a PF right now, and like I've said before, he'll be the guy containing the Garnetts, Stoudamires, Duncans, Brands, etc of the world. That is much more valuable to us than guarding the Ostertags, Mihms, and Pachulias.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) His defesive is good, not great Here is where you are just dead wrong. His defensive upside is through the roof. How many games do you watch? Honestly?
-
Yep, now we have to rely on Ben Gordon with Kirk out for perhaps the rest of the game.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) Which part didn't you agree with? Like I've said before a million times, he is pretty f***ing far from a scoring option. People say that he's not a worthwhile investment because he has no offensive upside. That's my beef. You know that.

If not for Adrian Griffin, we'd be blowing them out already.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) Can Tyson please stay out of foul trouble and learn to score. He is proving that he isn't worth $10 million a year. I love Tyson, but he has been really dissapointing and he seems to have digressed as far as scoring ability. That's funny, because in one thread you're talking about Vasher as if he's worth something defensively. In another thread, you're talking s*** about our primary defensive building block. Your take on all things defense is very interesting, to say the least.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 01:54 AM) Went down like a ton of bricks. It was unbelievably scary. He fell backwards, his head to the floor = full impact.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) Ben hits a three. BENCH HIM! His 3PT% is really his only saving grace thus far....

Dirk Nowitzki just literally knocked out Hinrich with an elbow to the dome.

It won't be long before I start trashing Ben Gordon mercilessly on here. He is actually worse now than he was last season, if people can believe that. He's like the worst defensive player in the Western Hemisphere. He has almost as many turnovers as assists. He is shooting 38% from the field. He is clueless beyond words. WHAT THE f***. Why do I have to put up with such nonsense. A #3 overall pick who is just utterly worthless. Key to victory tonight = Keep Ben on the bench Sorry for the "unpleasant" vibe I have created with this post. I just had to get that off of my chest.

Nathan Vasher for DPOY

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) Not to get confrontational with you, which is basically what I am doing , who has better numbers that could warrant DPOY. There is no Strahan from 2001 or Lewis from 2003, his numbers are as good as anyone's out there. I don't know, but numbers don't mean jack. Tommie Harris, for instance, is about 10,000 times more valuable than Vasher. It's not even funny. -

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) He's got as good a chance as anyone else. Urlacher, Peterson, Vasher, nobody is having a real dominant season, so it's not as far fetched as you think. I'm saying that he's not a good defensive player to begin with, let alone Defensive Player Of The Year. He has special teams ace written all over him, and I like him out of the nickel slot because he is pretty good against the run. But consider for a minute that he is a CB with no coverage skills. Perhaps national sportswriters are retarded enough to throw a few votes his way. It'll be like Larry Hughes all over again.... -

Vasher is a product of a superior defensive line. He is almost always in the right place at the right time as the D-Line pressures the QB into making bad throws. His coverage skills are below average. He makes Peanut Tillman look like Mel Blount in that regard. If he wasn't respectable against the run, he'd be in the Arena League. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) 137-54 this year for me. Not too bad for myself. Not too shabby. I won the soxtalk NFL picks contest last year, although it was pretty f***ing retarded because nobody sticks with it over the course of an entire season. There were like 6 guys who hadn't missed a week by the time all was said and done. When it comes to fantasy games on this site, there are only a handful of people that aren't irresponsible. It was such a joke that the guy I beat by one point (knightni) didn't even remember that I won the contest. He's got that super-potent flame weed I've been trying to get a hold of. -
QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) this version of him>>> old version. Word. I never would have figured out that he was Jabroni.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) I understand why people are skeptical about Anderson next year, but let me make these few points. 1. Brian Anderson is almost certainly the best defensive outfielder we have in our organization right now. Good throwing arm, great speed. Owens may be better in time, but Anderson is better now. And we do not want a major downgrade in defense in center field right now. 2. Aaron Rowand was not in any way a key part of our offense last year. ARow struggled to hit .270 with home runs barely in double figures. Especially late in the season, his clutch hitting even faultered. Yet we still won the world series and put up enough runs to do so. 3. If Brian Anderson experiences some growing pains in the big leagues,it will be almost impossible for him not to generate as many runs as Aaron. He has more power than Aaron, and even though he'll strike out more, it's not like Aaron was tearing apart the league with average or walking like a leadoff hitter. Even a poor season from Brian Anderson will virtually replace Rowand's production. 4. We are not in desperate need of an offensive upgrade in center field. We just massively upgraded our offense by fixing our biggest needs from last year - left handed power and a guy with a high OBP. Anything Anderson does is a bonus beyond that. 5. Brian Anderson already spent a year in AAA. There is only so much he could learn from another year there. 6. Brian Anderson's arbitration clock has already started. Owens's has not. 7. Brian Anderson is dirt cheap, compared with someone like Pierre. If necessary, by plugging him in, we may be able to afford to eat a portion of El Duque's contract if he is traded. Or we'll have more flexibility next year. Etc. 8. Brian Anderson is too good to languish in the minor leagues forever. He has the potential to be a very good outfielder for this team in the future. He's going to suffer some growing pains when he first comes up, but that will happen no matter when he gets his first full season in the big leagues. Brian Anderson is not the best possible player we could plug into Center field next year, but I think he's the smartest option right now. That is one hell of a post, man. Yep, it's gonna be a tight race for Soxtalk ROY this year between Middle Buffalo, Big Ed Walsh, ptatc, and Balta. I'm sure that I'm forgetting someone too.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 07:18 AM) wasn't he the best pitcher in baseball in the 2nd half? Also he is more like 37 or 38. That is a myth. If he was 45 he would be in Miami at his home. Not throwing a 96 MPH fastball. Yeah, I was kidding. :rolly Will you stop spamming these f***ing threads, please?

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 07:15 AM) read the f***ing column. Oh wait you didn't. Uh huh, and when was it implied that Juan Uribe commands more respect than Frank? Morrisey just threw that name out there. I'm probably just wasting my time anyway.
-
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) to say Juan Uribe is better than Frank and that we respect him more. I am a Juan Uribe fan but come on. That was never implied. Once again, you're WAY the f*** out there on Pluto.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) Thats good news. My main concerns are Jon G and Jose C! We have to lock those guys up. They are Aces in the making. No doubt about it. Jose Contreras is an ace in the making? Ain't he like 45 years old?

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 04:33 AM) Theisman is pretty good though. Theisman is one of the most confused motherf***ers in the history of sports broadcasting. Everybody makes fun of him. There might be like three people on the planet who respect him. -
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) Fear of the Black Hat Once again, another comedic masterpiece gets dissed. Movies that make you laugh to the point of tears like "Ace Ventura Part 1" or "Fear Of A Black Hat" are not bad movies, y'all.
