QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) Hmm, guess I was wrong. Maybe it's not his skill, but the Warriors lack of skill at PF/C. When Ike Diogu gets back in about a month from now, they're probably going to move Troy Murphy to center. Then they'll have Cabarkapa, Foyle, and Biedrins coming in off the bench. They've stockpiled some nice talent at PF and C slots over the past two years. Diogu could be a beast. Lots of comparisons hae been made between him and Elton Brand. I'm shocked that he fell to #9 overall in the draft. Biedrins is so f***ing raw right now, but he looks like he's gonna be a player.

Bears impending QB "controversy"?
hammerhead johnson replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
A betting site that I frequent has the Bears favored by 12 1/2 points. The Orton factor means that this game is damn near sure money if you bet on the 49ers plus the points. -

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 05:53 AM) The Colts will lose, and Mercury Morris will pour a little sourmash for himself and his cellmate to celebrate the perfect season in '72. Oh man, I hope they go undefeated just to stick it to them 72 f***wads. I'll never forget seeing footage of their celebration after the Bears lost in 1985. -

16 votes for Orton. Hey, if you voted for him, send me a PM and let me know where you get your drugs at. -

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) All he had to was manage the game and not make stupid mistakes. That is exactly what Orton is doing now. Was that supposed to be in green? He should have thrown like 3 or 4 interceptions agains the Lions in Week 8. Henry Burris could have made better throws than he did against the Saints this past weekend. Kyle needs to grab some bench for a few years. Grossman is a no-brainer. It ought to be unanimous. -

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 02:23 AM) Oh, and you still haven't answered whether or not you believe Brady would be successful in any other spot. I'm sure he would be...but I don't think he would be nearly as successful in many spots. I do not feel the same about Peyton Manning. IMO, Brady is hall-of-fame caliber almost entirely on the strength of intangibles. He is capable of adapting to a given situation on a level with some of the greatest QBs since the merger. There's a reason why people compare him to Joe Montana. You could make an argument that Joe was the greatest QB of all time, but there have been at least a few dozen guys who had/have more god-given talent. Is Carson Palmer more talented than Brady? Of course. Would I rather have Palmer? Heck no. Manning is the only guy in the NFL who is more valuable right now out of the QB slot as far as I'm concerned. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) If the Bears make any noise in the playoffs, it isnt gonna be because of Orton and Jones. its gonna be the defense all the way If not for the running game, our defense would be on the field way to often to be effective over the course of an entire game. When we go up against a run-stuffing team in the playoffs, we'll be f***ed.

Congratulations, man!

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) Honestly, you act as if Brady is leading a dynamic offense. That team could win with almost any starting QB in the league minus Kurt Warner and whoever's starting for Miami these days. I think even Orton could manage the Pats. First off, I agree that Peyton Manning is by far the best QB in the game. He has the smarts to supplement his immense amount of skill at the position. However, when it comes to straight up smarts out of the QB slot, Tom Brady is a genius. Do you watch much football? Who makes better decisions that that guy? Who makes less errors? Say all you want about how good their defense and special teams have been. Ultimately, if you don't have a hall of fame caliber field general, you're not going to win 3 championships in 4 years! I agree that Manning would have multiple rings if he were a member of the Patriots, but to say that the vast majority of starting QBs in this league can just step in and there wouldn't be much of a difference is just insanely retarded. In most NFL circles, you'd be branded a bonehead for life. -

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Agree, he will still get some time in at the five. Anyway, he has way too good of hands to be a bust. He will be one of the top centers in the nba within a couple years imo. I agree. He'll be one of the top scoring centers in the league in a couple years from now. -

TJ Ford is back, ladies and gentlemen. 10 assists, 8 points, and 6 rebounds with a little over 4 minutes to go. -

Yeah, Webber is having one hell of a game. With 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter: 28 Points 57% Shooting 13 Rebounds 5 Assists 2 Blocks 1 Steal Andrew Bogut is going to have a loooong year at the 4. If some random asshole such as myself can see that his feet are too slow for the position, why can't an NBA team figure that out? -
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) I've just recently rediscovered Eric B. and Rakim. They were so ahead of their time. Anything you have loaded onto iTunes, perhaps? *shakes hands* Not that I would want any of those or anything. You know, one of these days I'll get around to it. I have the software to record from vinyl onto my computer, but I'm just too lazy. Rakim has a shelved LP from 1995 that I consider to be a great album. I will most definitely keep you in mind, Dybber.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Don't Sweat the Technique - Eric B. and Rakim Nice. You know what's great? The accapella version of that track with only isolated bass here and there. I have three different 12" singles for that song. I have damn near 30 Rakim singles altogether, actually. I'm a major vinyl nerd.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Yellow Ledbetter I never could understand what the f*** Eddie was saying on that one. Hey, Rock is a Pearl Jam fan. How about that? I was a huge fan back in the 90s, but I haven't really felt like listening to any of their albums for a good 5 years now. I have some bootlegs with good unreleased songs performed live. Eddie is just moaning and uttering gibberish, kind of like on "Yellow Ledbetter". But it sounds good, real goooood.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Lakers will make the playoffs, write it down. Kobe is going to have a MVP type season and I'll be loving every second of it. I think they have a shot at the 7th or 8th seed, but it will depend on *gasp* how well Kwame Brown performs. If he takes off and average 18 points and 9 rebounds per game, they'll make the playoffs, albeit barely. Otherwise, their lack of frontcourt depth will do them in. But I'm sick and tired of waiting around for Kwame Brown to develop. And besides, he has proven to be a very, very confused player on the defensive end. A major liability. -

QUOTE(HineyBird @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) nba has fallen off three teams with legit shot the rest nothing It's almost always like that, though. In any given year, there are two to four legitimate championship contenders. Hey, why are you dissing the Pacers? -
Post your predictions, rankings, etc. NBA Finals Caliber San Antonio Indiana Detroit Conference Finals Caliber Denver Miami 2nd Round Caliber Houston Phoenix Dallas New Jersey 1st Round Caliber Sacramento Golden State Utah Seattle Minnesota Philadelphia Chicago Milwaukee Cleveland Half-Assed LA Lakers LA Clippers Memphis Washington No Hope Portland New Orleans Atlanta Boston Toronto Orlando NY Knicks Charlotte Most teams without hope are rebuilding. And then you have the Knicks. Memphis might suck after losing Swift, Posey, Watson, Bonzi Wells, etc. They still have a team that can win 40 games, though. At least on paper, anyway. I'm not ready to call the Houston Rockets "Conference Finals Caliber", but they'll be dangerous this year (just pointing out the obvious). Despite the "Big Three" and the development of Krstic, the Nets are still hurting in terms of overall depth. They had the worst depth in the entire NBA last year IMO, but now, they're merely bottom 1/3. They'll get hammered by either Indiana, Detroit, or Miami in the playoffs. I'm just not feeling the Sacramento Kings. What can I say. I like not one player on that team. I can say the same for Seattle. Golden State is the surprise team that ain't really a surprise. But god damn, signing Dunleavy to an extension with Pietrus in the picture? Don't they already have enough scoring with Davis, Richardson, Murphy, etc? Utah is the most unpredicatable to me. Kirilenko just changes everything. He is legitimate MVP candidate. Minnesota has an interesting squad, but do they have enough depth in the frontcourt to advance beyond the first round? Nope. Wally World is a f***ing joke. Yep, I have all 5 teams from our division making the playoffs. It sure as hell ain't likely, but that's the way it looks on paper.

God damn, Baltimore nearly pulled off the upset. Heath Miller is a motherf***ing beast! -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 04:24 AM) I'd just like to see how they'd go against a Denver etc. Me too. That sucks for the Cowboys that they have to play both the AFC west and NFC West. Those two divisions contain 7 of the Top 10 offensive teams in the league. And then you have to play the Giants twice. Offensive powerhouses: @San Diego @Oakland N.Y. Giants @Seattle Denver @N.Y. Giants Kansas City St. Louis Plus the team that would round out the Top 10 IMO: Arizona The only elite offensive teams that they avoid are Indianapolis and Cincinnatti.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) Hammer the Bears have been great on D no doubt, but look at the offenses they've been up against so far this season; Washington Detroit Cincinatti Cleveland Minnesota Baltimore They caught Washington in the 1st week with Ramsey when their offense sucked. Cincinatti's been really the only good offensive team they've played at all so far this season. And their schedule is so damn easy, they only have to play 3 other good offensive teams, Carolina, Pittsburgh and Atlanta. Add that to the teams in the NFC North, the Bears have got it real easy. As a Cowboys fan, I'm jealous. Yeah, I know, but you still have to go out and play the games. They've gone up against the likes of Jamal Lewis, Kevin Jones, Rudi Johnson, Clinton Portis, etc, and they've only allowed one rushing TD all year. In 4 out of 7 games, they've held opponents to single digits in points scored. I know that they get to avoid 8 of the 9 legitimately scary offensive teams: NY Giants St. Louis Seattle Kansas City San Diego Denver Oakland Cincinatti Indianapolis

I thought you were smarter than that, Buehrle>Wood. Adjective used to describe Bears: Pathetic Comparisons made between Sox and Bears before you chimed in: Zero If someone were to say that what the Bears are doing is comparable to what the Sox did this year, then you'd have a case.
-
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) You can throw every damn stat at me in the world and I could care less. The 4-3 Bears are pathetic compared to the World Champions Sox. Accept this and move on. Who is comparing the Bears to the Sox? Nobody. You said that the Bears were pathetic. You didn't say that they were pathetic in comparison to the Sox. Don't bulls*** me.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) Is there a snowballs chance in hell Baltimore wins tonight.. Not really, but with Pittsburgh favored to win by 11 points this evening, I might put some money on Baltimore plus the points. They're gonna lose, but by 11 or more? Hmmm.
