  1. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 06:29 AM) Also, I thik Piazza was very neutral and gave us tons of props, so did Sutcliffe. Yeah, I like Piazza, despite the fact that he wears pink shirts from time to time. He has also posed in calendars, shirtless and glistening mind you. And then he wonders why he has to have a press conference to announce that he isn't gay. Seriously though, Piazza has a promising future in the broadcasting booth.
  2. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 05:35 AM) Explain, what are you talking about? I figured that you were gone with the wind, bruh. Why are you still here?
  3. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 05:22 AM) I guess you can consider me back on your side now, although the likeliness of that happening is slim to none. Without redandwhite around to bless us with his intelligent baseball thoughts, this place just won't be the same. Oh well. Life goes on, I guess.
  4. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 05:17 AM) Exactly. What a classless thread. God damn Boston troll.
  5. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 05:06 AM) I'd love to see your reaction if he did indeed hit 3 hr in game 7. That would be a beautiful thing, but this is just one particular season, you know what I'm saying? Ain't we gonna need a s***load of cash to invest in pitching? I dunno, maybe I'm just being too conservative, but 12 freaking million per? If that is what this guy will demand, he can take a hike.
  6. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) The best part is I had to argue about KEEPING El Duque on the playoff roster on the thread on this message board a week ago. Hernandez sucked hard during the regular season. The people who argued against him did so for righteous reasons. Not that I ever made a case for or against him, I'm just saying. And now, he has somehow changed his terrible ways. Hey, I am all for it. I love it when a guy doesn't suck.
  7. 12 million dollars per? LOL, I don't think so. I don't care if he hits three home runs in game 7 of the World Series. That much money per season is out of the question IMO.
  8. Who'd have thunk that we'd be able to get out of a bases-loaded, nobody-out jam UNSCATHED!!!! Motherf***ing EL DUQUE You might suck uncontrollably during the regular season, but god damn was that a sweet performance.
  9. Oh well, we're just gonna have to get 'em in Game 4. s*** happens.
  10. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 04:30 AM) By the way, I didn't know that Eddy Curry is "one of the best centers in the game." :rolly QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 04:30 AM) What are you talking about? How did Jamal Crawford launching up brick after brick and playing no defense ever hurt our record in previous years? QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 04:30 AM) Well, let's see. Tim Thomas doesn't play defense, doesn't rebound, but he can shoot. Ummm... The Knicks? Hey, who were you before you adopted your new username? I see that you have 100+ posts in less than 48 hours. We could have used you around here last season if these posts are an indication. What are your thoughts on Tyson Chandler? Your thoughts on Ben Gordon? Say the right thing, and
  11. Some of my favorites: Rolling Stones: Unplugged Amazing versions of "No Expectations", "Wild Horses", etc. The acoustic version of "No Expectations" might just be my favorite Rolling Stones song, period. Beatles: Kinfauns Acoustic sessions from George Harrison's house in 1968. Essential. My favorites: "Blackbird", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Not Guilty", "Dear Prudence", "Mother Nature's Son", "I'm So Tired", "Julia", "Cry Baby Cry", and "Child Of Nature". George Harrison: Beware Of Abcko! A stunning compilation of acoustic sessions for "All Things Must Pass". Some of my favorites include "Run Of The Mill", "The Art Of Dying", "Beware Of Darkness", "If Not For You", and "Let It Down". Tom Petty: North Carolina 1989 These acoustic versions bring a tear to my eye: "Southern Accent", "Even The Losers", and "A Face In The Crowd". Tom Petty: 20 Nights At The Fillmore I just can't really explain in words how emotionally powerful these acoustic tracks are: "Walls" and "Angel Dream". Petty is just on a whole nother level when it comes to live material. Bob Dylan: Blood On The Tracks (Original NY Test Pressing) You just can't f*** with the emotional power on the acoustic versions of "Idiot Wind", "You're A Big Girl Now", "Tangled Up In Blue", "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome", etc. The offically released BOTT sucks IMO, because the tracks that I just mentioned are void of that raw emotion captured during the original acoustic sessions. As I said in a previous thread on here a while back, the classic acoustic tracks officially released from the NY sessions: "Simple Twist Of Fate", "Shelter From The Storm", "Buckets Of Rain", etc. Compare those to the re-recorded tracks ("Idiot Wind", "Tanlged Up In Blue", etc) from late 1974 in Minnesota. What a travesty. Bob Dylan: Blood On The Tapes A supplemental comp that goes hand-in-hand with the NY test pressing, strictly for the unreleased "Up To Me", which is just classic. Bob Dylan: Now Ain't The Time For Your Tears 1965 There are quite a few amazing soundboards from the 1965 Tour, but this one takes the cake IMO. My favorites: "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright", "Gates Of Eden", "The Times", "Love Minus Zero", "Mr. Tambourine Man", "With God On Our Side", "It Ain't Me Babe", "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue", "To Ramona", etc. Who: Acoustic Glory Interesting stuff. The Who like you've never heard them before. Of course, I prefer all of the Moon era stuff, but this is a good one.
  12. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Yeah, I checked baseball-reference, and it was the last 2. They were probably getting ahead of themselves and counting THIS year as well. :finger Baseball reference? It's not like we make it to the playoffs that often.
  13. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 04:50 AM) Chandler was drafted with the pick we got for Brand. Thank you.
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Regarding the offense...if you are talking about average, which the Sox are tied for 3rd worst in, then you are making a complete assinine assertion. Average is one of the most overrated stats you can use when judging a team's offense. A team can hit .220 and still put up a team .800 OPS and still score 800 runs. I hear that. Texas didn't even hit .270 as a team, but I'll be damned if they aren't a Top 5 offense in the majors. I'll be damned. And I won't base an argument on exceptions. This s*** happens all the time.
  15. I should clarify that our SB% is the worst in the AL for teams with 100 or more chances. That's basically 8 or 9 teams altogether, and our success rate is about 67%.
