Statistically how to beat Manny and Ortiz
hammerhead johnson replied to joeynach's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) How do you judge us to be the third worst offense, exactly? I believe we finished the season 13th in MLB in runs scored, and while we were 9th in the AL...that's at worst the 5th worst in that league. Yeah, our batting average sucks, but batting average doesn't define an entire offense. Take a look at where we rank in these categories when you get a chance: Team OBP Team SLG Team OPS AVG w/ RISP SB % (worst in the AL) Hits Doubles If you think this is merely a discussion in regards to straight-up batting average rankings, you are mistaken. We are easily a bottom 5 offense in all of the MLB. There is no argument. -
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

14-5 against an insanely talented Indians team this year. But we suck against good teams. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) Soxtalk is like my toolbox after my sons had been into it. Tools are missing. Oh s*** Is that a YASNY original?

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) This is bogus. And before anyone skewers me, just put yourselves in NY or Boston's shoes. Yeah, but f*** them spoiled-rotten sons of b****es.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) You're the best........ Arouuund --- From Karate Kid Perfect. And I'm sure that we could find some other terrible songs from the Karate Kid soundtrack to recommend. In my best Bill Cartwright voice: terrible

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) Ok, the singing hot dog vendor is driving me nuts after like 3 seconds. I love that guy.

Hey, now we're kicking some ass. Never mind my previous post.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) s***, that steal didn't sound very good. Farmer and Rooney are talking about how the infield dirt is like mud right now, and that he wouldn't attempt to steal until the latter stages of the game. Someone ought to get together with Ozzie and offer some much-needed assistance for his game plan. What's Rock doing? Snorting lines? Dye doubles, Ozuna would have scored, but whatever.

Rock, are you serious? That post was obviously constructed just for laughs. -
QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) No, he sucked in the middle of the season, which makes the turnaround even more impressive because it pretty much came suddenly out of nowhere. good April: 3.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, .200 BAA May: 3.51 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, .198 BAA bad June: 5.81 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, .270 BAA July: 5.71 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, .261 BAA throw-up sick August: 2.14 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, .242 BAA September: 1.99 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, .214 BAA Yeah, good point. It seemed like he sucked in the first two months, although that isn't the case on paper.

Mark has been f***ing up as of late. There is absolutely no question about it. HR allowed in his first 23 starts through Aug 6: 8 HR allowed in his last 9 starts since Aug 12: 12 I can not believe that I'm going to say this, but Contreras should start Game 1. This dude is like 45 years old and he sucked hard through the first few months of the season. And now, he's our #1 starter.

Ayo dukenukem, ain't you supposed to be like banned or whatever? Did you go to Glenbrook South? If that's the case, excuse me while I go and take a major dump on your football field. Gordon Tech for life, b****es.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) there is no way San Diego is going to trade LT. Hmmm, are you sure about that? Are you some kind of insider or something? How do you know that the Chargers brass wouldn't cream their shorts upon hearing of a Tomlinson for Benson/Jones deal? I know I would. -
QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) it's great to see that the sox are in playoff form the last week. cause just like in the playoffs they tighten up with men on base and can't score runs. The personnel is completely different from that of any of our previous playoff teams. We have only one guy left from the 2000 lineup. There is nobody left from the 1993 lineup. But I suppose that if the Bills were to reach the Super Bowl this year, you'd say that they'd choke. After all, look what happened back in the early 90s. And yet another quality poster joins soxtalk. I don't welcome you, man. I hope that you get banned ASAP.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) ok. now show me the pitching... I know, different conversation, but taken as a whole that will explain 95 wins. Right, but to say that the Sox as a whole are greatly talented is bogus. You won't find very many people with actual baseball knowledge who would be inclined to agree.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:34 AM) Uuuum, can you tell me where I said that any certain player was great? No. I said talent. Every player has a talent, else they would not be in the f***ing MLB. Difficult concept? I dont think so. Carl Everett has talent. He has power and he is a vocal leader. Jermaine Dye has talent. Superior defense, good power. Joe Crede - Very cluth, EXCELLENt defense. Juan Uribe - strong arm, good D. Aaron - Awesome defense. Pods - Fastest guy in MLB, distracts pitcher, good bunter. Do you see that? Do you see how everyone has a certain skill they are very good at...wow! :headshake You said that our talent was GREAT, collectively. Now you're saying that every player has a skill in the MLB that they're great at, or otherwise, they wouldn't be playing at this level. Therefore, every team has great talent. I swear, you post some insanely idiotic s*** sometimes.

'Choke' not in White Sox vocabulary
hammerhead johnson replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 06:08 AM) losing a 15 game lead is choking, i don't care how slice that pizza. Did you miss the part where it said that the Indians are 38-12 over their last 50 games? That projects out to a 123-39 record over a full season. If they were in the NL Central, the Cardinals would have lost like 15 games off of their lead since the ASB. What an insane f***ing choke job that would have been. Maybe people should give some credit to a team that has clearly established itself as world-series caliber. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY wants to go heads up with the Indians in the playoffs. We just have to hope that they lose in the 1st round with the wack 5 game format, because if we play them in a 7 game series? -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 05:10 AM) Hafner = Thome, basically...to me atleast. Albert Belle was just a prick, period. A lot of times, you hated whether or not he was on your team. Jim Thome I hated because he was a f***in machine. How is this trade looking for the Rangers? December 6, 2002: Traded by the Texas Rangers with Aaron Myette to the Cleveland Indians for Einar Diaz and Ryan Drese. What could have been: 2. Michael Young R 3. Travis Hafner L 4. Mark Teixera R 5. Hank Blaylock L 6. Alfonso Soriano R 7. Kevin Mench R They're crazy enough as is, but if they had Hafner? Good God.

QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) With all due respect, this is a riduculous thread. Go to New York sometime and see how much the Met fans hate the Yankees, and vice-versa. Last I counted, they have 5 championships between them since '86. Somehow it doesn't matter over there. Solid post. QUOTE(FlaSoxJimm @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) Where is the jerking off smiley when you need it? I swear, I was going to say the exact same thing, minus the green font. Our organizational depth charts since 1901: Positional Chart Pitching Over the last 80 years or so, we just haven't had the personnel that it takes to win it all. That is it, end of story.

Hmmm. Sounds like a bad acid trip. Good luck with that.
