Manager beforw J. Manuel was???
hammerhead johnson replied to Bias's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
s***, only one of the most insanely gifted managers of all time. Terry Bevington. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Personally, I would actually prefer to have the starting lineup change from last year...Going with Curry and Chandler both in it to start off (the ol' Twin Towers formula for which they were originally drafted), Deng, Hinrich moving back to point guard, and give Gordon a shot at starting. Hinrich still strikes me as a more natural point guard, and I want him to get more minutes at that spot this year. Duhon could be excellent as a backup. If Gordon starts at SG and plays for close to 30 minutes a night, you can just go ahead and put these SGs down for 25 to 30 points every time we play against them: Michael Redd Rip Hamilton Larry Hughes Dwyane Wade Vince Carter Jamal Crawford (wack player who would tear Gordon to shreds) Paul Pierce Tracy McGrady Jerry Stackhouse Jason Richardson Kobe Bryant Ray Allen Manu Ginobli s***, even these guys could probably put up 20 to 25 vs Gordon: Stephen Jackson Mike Miller Josh Childress J.R. Smith Is Joe Johnson gonna play some 2 in Atlanta? And I'm sure that I'm forgetting a player or two. Duhon and Hinrich make up a solid defensive backcourt. I wouldn't tinker with it. Gordon, in a championship sense, has ZERO WORTH. He'll hurt you a hell of a lot more than he'll help, despite the scoring potential. I want him outta here ASAP. f*** an "exciting" player if he can't play defense worth a s***. If this is what people want, have fun watching the Pacers and Pistons whoop us over the next three to four years.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Aaron Gleen got burned apparently, the nickel corner. It was always going to be a close game, but I really liked the look of our D for the 1st 3 quarters. The pass rush looked very good, and DeMarcus Ware hasn't got going yet. I switched over to the Letterman show when there were close to 4 minutes left in the game with the Cowboys leading 13-0. When I finally got back to the game at the 2 minute warning, the Redskins were up 14-13. After reviewing the replays, I couldn't believe my eyes. Brunell must have had a horseshoe planted waaay up his ass, as Roy Williams was within inches (seemingly) of deflecting the ball both times. -

Even though the Redskins won, their offense got absolutely manhandled by the Cowboys defense. I wouldn't have expected such a devastating display of pass-rushing and run-stuffing prowess against a damn good Washington O-Line. I can't complain, as I had money on the Redskins plus the points (+6). I figured that I was going to lose for certain until the Redskins finally exploited what appears to be the Cowboys weakness on D (deep coverage). Or maybe it was just a fluke, I dunno. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) I'd start Clinton Portis. Buffalo's defense should be outstanding against the run, especially with that LB core and big Sam Adams in the middle. The Cowboys defense oozes of potential, but they're still pretty raw. CWS, I hope that you took my advice. God damn, Tampa Bay found themselves a monster if these first two games are any indication. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) Because I'm not in love with Orton and am willing to give Grossman another chance? Is that what people are hung up on? Your opinion on Grossman vs. Orton? Yep, your Bears knowledge is seriously lacking.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 04:00 AM) This is why I said you shouldn't talk about the Bears, stick to the Cowboys and just forget the Bears exist. You're absolute bias toward the boys and against the Bears makes it impossible for you to make a logical prediction involving the Bears. Do you have some type of beef with DBAHO, lol? He might know more about the NFL than anyone on this site. And besides, who on Earth can make a logical prediction when it comes to the Bears.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) Please read... Which would make your subsequent rant all the more confusing. Like this line right here: If it had already been established that the teams weren't ranked in any particular order, then what's the point of typing this and damn near everything else as well? -
QUOTE(AirScott @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) you see, Jones is above average, which is better than we can say for the receivers and O-line (which has improved, it seems). drafting Mike Williams would give Orton two quality receivers to throw to, thus improving the run game and passing attack because defenses would have to worry about a receiver not named Muhammad. look at the stats for today, Muhammad caught 6, nobody else caught more than 2, and only Gage had more than 10 per catch, while Jones ran wild. Good receivers come a dime a dozen in this league. There are more than just a few teams with 3 or more capable receivers in this league. Let's see, there's St. Louis, Detroit, Oakland, Cleveland, Indianapolis, San Diego, etc. Now, good RBs on the other hand? Precious commodities. That's why you go for the horse when he's available. There is absolutely no argument. You always grab the potential franchise back and hit the FA market for good WRs, who are everywhere. You don't waste a high pick on one. QUOTE(AirScott @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) and Wilkinson is a head-case, but when he's on his game he's All-Pro caliber. Well, he's only been in the league for 13 years now. All-Pro Caliber? Yeah, back in 1998. He is nowhere near what he once was.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Detroit's defense is terrible...one of the absolute worst in the NFL. They make the Redskins look like the Steel Curtain. Yes, the Packers are that bad if they could only put up 3 points against this squad: DE: HOLE DT: Marcus Bell (Solid) DT: Shaun Rogers (All-Pro Caliber) DE: James Hall (Solid) OLB: Boss Bailey (Solid) MLB: HOLE OLB: HOLE CB: Fernando Bryant (Solid) CB: Dre Bly (Solid) SS: Kenoy Kennedy (Solid) FS: HOLE Thomas Jones might kick some ass against a defense like this, but let's not forget that he's slightly above average at best. Would he make a Top 25 list of RBs in this league? Perhaps, but barely. Now, Cedric Benson? There is a good possibility that he could be Top 10 in his prime. Oh, and Soxfan101, I consider Wilkinson to be merely adequate at this juncture (why he's not listed despite the fact that he starts over Bell), and I believe that Bly can sniff out big plays, but he's nothing more than adequate on coverage.

They might be able to read it just due to encountering it so much on the Internet but it's not something they spend their time on. At least in my sense of the word nerd. I would presume that you'd have to be a nerd to even encounter it at numerous internet destinations in the first place.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) Doesn't look good for Denver and that defense this season. Might be time for Mike Shanahan to finally head elsewhere. If that D-Line gels later rather than sooner, then yeah, they could have some serious issues. But with that insane LB core, a CB that could shut down a teams's best receiver, the potential of the D-Line, and their first three 05 picks used on DBs, this is a defense that just oozes of potential: DE: Trevor Pryce (Solid), Ebenezer Ekuban (Solid) DT: Gerard Warren ? DT: Monsanto Pope (Solid) DE: Courtney Brown (Solid) OLB: DJ Williams (All-Pro Caliber) MLB: Al Wilson (All-Pro Caliber) OLB: Ian Gold (Solid) CB: Champ Bailey (All-Pro Caliber) CB: HOLE SS: HOLE FS: John Lynch (Solid) The road schedule from here on out: Oct 2 at Jacksonville Oct 23 at NY Giants Nov 13 at Oakland Nov 24 at Dallas Dec 4 at Kansas City Dec 17 at Buffalo Dec 31 at San Diego Plus home games vs. Philadelphia, New England, Baltimore, NY Jets, and of course, the offensive powerhouses within their own division. I'm much more worried about their offense, actually. Miami is healthy on defense right now, though. But I suspect that the Dolphins will start to get murdered once Bowens and Chester go down. They're just too f***ing old overall. And I know I said this last year for comedic effect, but it's true...they have perhaps the worst offensive line in the history of the NFL (taking expansion into account). They are absolutely dreadful. Horrendous. -
QUOTE(JuiceCruz16 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) I don't care where thier weaknesses are. With a rookie QB running the show we better be able to establish a running game or we have very little chance. Solid DEE and ball control running is our best shot at a win Sunday! Word up, Juice.

Detroit's defense is terrible...one of the absolute worst in the NFL. They make the Redskins look like the Steel Curtain. But the Bears offense would have a hard time against some NFL Europe teams, so a win is nowhere near a sure thing.
