QUOTE (juddling @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) maybe we'll eventually see the explanation for the 4 toed statue. Good God. I had completely forgotten about that.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) I was buying a pack of batteries or something at Walgreen's a few years back and I was in a good mood, there was an old lady behind me so I let her get ahead of me since she didn't have much. She was happy, it made me feel good, and everything was cool until she took out her Crown Royal bag with the hundreds of f***ing pennies to pay for it. My god. It took forever to count. I'm thinking "why'd this b**** let me let her in front of me when she knew she was gonna take forever, and I'd have taken 20 seconds to ring up?" Moral of the story: don't let old ladies in front of you in line. HAHA. And I don't.

QUOTE (Nixon @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 05:35 PM) Like this. Witty.

QUOTE (onedude @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) you can't assure me anything when I witnessed the full version on his Xbox 360. It wasn't a demo...a guy made mods to the game and uploaded it somewhere. My friend then downloaded it. I don't know how...but he does have the full version. I buy it. How's the game look?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) Set up Facebook and MySpace accounts with that email address, and have the profiles be fully public. Great idea!

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) Post your email address everywhere you can on the web. Spiders will pick it up, and it will go onto lists that are sold to spammers. Yep, been doing that. Signing up for every newsletter I can find, posting it on message boards, etc, etc.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) this is all you need. Not bad, but it's not the type of SPAM I'm looking for, I think. I want the most ridiculous SPAM e-mail possible. I'm off to do it anyway.
-
[email protected] Sign that e-mail up anywhere you'd like. The more inventive you are with places, the better. If anyone knows quick ways to get SPAM, post them here.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) LOL, I was pretty shocked to see the thread at 4 pages then I saw it got hijacked. My bad.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) there is an outstanding Amaerican boxer coming up the ranks. I worked with him when I worked with the Junior Olympic Boxing Team in 2006. His name is Isiah Thomas (not kidding). His real name is Alex but he goes by Isiah. He is the first American Heavyweight to win the Gold medal in the Junior Olympics. He is probably a few years away because he is probably only 20 now but watch for him. David Haye too. British and known throughout the boxing community at this point, but I can't wait to see him fight Klitschko. I hope the boxer you're talking about doesn't do what Michael Grant did and go for the trophy too soon. Lewis made him into a joke.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 08:13 PM) You are correct that you are a dick, but I honestly was wondering if you had played/had an opinion on that game. When I'm being passive aggressive, I'll let you know. You don't know me. Just because I called myself that does not give you the right to. Now please, go away.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) Dude, I was genuinely asking you. I love that game. You need to really take it the f*** easy... you really got worked up in that other thread I guess. Obviously I had no idea that you were this pissed over an honest argument over the current merit of the sport. I just wanted to know your take on Fight Night, which I think is a really fun game. So I guess now I can tell you to kiss my ass. Don't take me as an idiot. You had passive aggressive underlinings all over your earlier comment here. I know a dick comment when I see one because I am a dick.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) mmmm, the boxing thread in the sports pub might convince you differently. We have all been arguing all day Thank you. The one guy that decided to keep it in the original thread.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) Being such a boxing fan, I'm surprised to see no Fight Night in there. I'm not a big fan of the sport, but that game is freaking awesome. Is it not on PS3? Of course, as an enthusiast you might not like the fact that most of the fights are made to end in the 3rd or 4th round via knockout. I'd be interested to hear your opinion on that game. Wow, shut the f*** up.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 03:36 PM) The type of fighting we call MMA has been around a lot longer than Dana White and the UFC. You can look to the Greeks and Pankration which was an Olympic sport. The Gracie family has been holding these types of tournaments since the 20s. Shoot fighting started in Japan in the late 70s and early 80s. So your comments about the history of it are a bit out of touch. And for boxing fans to use the brutality of MMA to show less class only need to look back in the last 100 years of your own sport when boxing was two men, barenuckles, beating each other to death for 50 rounds. Yes you have come a long way, and so has the UFC from UFC1. "Beating each other to death for 50 rounds" is an overstatement. They fought until there was a clear and decided winner. In today's boxing, they have judges. And people die in modern boxing, as well. Boxing has a prideful history, is what I meant. It appears in literature by Homer, and has names that I recognize of people I've never seen fight. Pankration, or MMA or whatever you'd like to call it, lasted for 1,000 years as an Olympic sport. Boxing continues today in the Games, from as early as 688 BC.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) Well we will argue this in 50 years then. Might be moot. Will I make it another 50 years? I'll be lucky to see tomorrow.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) ALSO: MMA involves much more than walking around in circles and swinging a blocking. So does boxing. Thanks.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) yeah you did, when you said "They couldnt hold the jock of (insert boxing hall of famers)" you made a comparison of the styles, and now you are backing off. The sports are different, we all know this. Boxing ate itself alive with corruption and different federations that wouldnt fight each other and political crap within the sport(like you said, Don King). MMA stepped in and grew a fanbase because the mainstream boxing sport got stale I ragged on MMA style, certainly--because I don't like it. I said Boxers have better punches, yes, and they do. But where can you quote me specifically comparing the two fighting styles? Basically I've gotten a lot back along the lines of a boxer couldn't take a kick to the leg or couldn't fight on the ground. I never said they could. I've also gotten back that, essentially, boxing isn't fighting. That is ridiculous. What I meant by "they couldn't hold the jock strap of..." is that MMA has no history, it has no grace, it has no class; all it has is a brute style of fighting. Everyone knows the name Muhammad Ali and they know it for a reason. He was a great fighter, if not the greatest. The picture of that guy I posted, the guy in the speedo, apparently he's a big name MMA fighter. I've never seen, nor heard of him. I know I'm not the only one. I know that's of no fault of the sport, but when I'm 70 years old, my grandkids will know who Muhammad Ali is. Will they know who that guy in the speedo is?

QUOTE (onedude @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) what other games you got? Right now I have Fallout 3, Resistance: Fall of Man, Socom: Confrontation, MGS4, MLB The Show 08, Oblvion, Little Big Planet, and Guitar Hero III. Soon will add Killzone 2 and The Show 09.

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) Boxing ALL the way for me. The MMA stuff has no appeal to me. Watching Sugar Shane demolish Margarito this weekend was highly entertaining for me. It was quite a surprise because of the manner in which he whipped him. The welterweight division is set for many a great matchup in the near future. LONG LIVE THE SWEET SCIENCE. I wish I saw it.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) You mean that a boxer could beat a UFC fighter under boxing rules. Sure I agree. In a fight, not so much. Depends what you consider a fight. Less rules doesn't make it any more of a fight.
-
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 03:10 PM) This toe to toe crap is bulls***. Sure Mike Tyson has a killer punch, but Mike Tyson would be meat if he went up against Fedor under UFC rules. Mike has a punchers chance of landing something, but the fight would be. Fedor dropping Mike on the ground, Tyson scrambling, and then either having something broken or getting choked out. You cannot compare combat systems. You talk about the strength of a punch, I counter that with the power of a shin kick to your thigh or to your head. You want to watch a man buckle, have a guy trained in Kyokushin Kai or Thai give them a good inner thigh or outer thigh blast full contact. I never did compare combat systems, I was defending the gloves. And I never said a boxer could beat an MMA fighter under MMA rules. And besides, the opposite can be said for Fedor vs Tyson under boxing rules. Fedor wouldn't stand a chance. Kyyle already said this.
