Try a clean install of the OS, that'll fix most software issues. If you still have problems, hardware somewhere has gone bad and if you can't find the culprit, it's time for a replacement.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) I think the best equivalency for Will Smith is Bruce Willis... --Both started in comedy TV --Both have become, mostly, summer blockbuster headliners --But both have also shown serious acting chops at times Where's Will Smith's Pulp Fiction?

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) Whenever it snows here in MD, which is a couple of times a year, they kill me. It doesn't snow here as much as it does in Chicago or NYC, but they act like they've never seen it before and start flipping out just like I was talking about in my last post, except here there is no excuse because it isn't the south. They get a snow FORECAST and they close school for the day, wtf? And the afternoon or night before, the lines at grocery stores get long. roffles. The snow slowdown takes all of half a day, they act like it lasts a week. I'm finding out that Portland treats snow the same way. I live across the street from a grocery store and that cracked me up.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) I kind of agree with you both, Nintendo's current formula is obviously VERY successful business-wise, and I'm sure they want to widen their market share, but at the same time, they don't really need to. They're in kind of an odd position where they don't compete directly with their competition. But that's not saying they can't be doing more - there's plenty of "fun for everyone" type of games, but they can also be drawing in the more traditional gamers with traditional quality games. On the other hand, if you're a 3rd party developer who wants to produce a game like that - why would you do it on the Wii when you can make the game much better, and probably easier, for the Xbox or PS3? Makes sense to me. For instance, I can't imagine the Final Fantasy series or Metal Gear series or even Halo series being successful on the Wii. The hardware that is needed just isn't there.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) I honestly think Nintendo will start a bigger program to bring in some hardcore gamers within the next year or so. JMO of course, but they know they need to step into that market a little bit I doubt they will. They're following the same strategy they always have. For once, it's working and they're dominating the field. The only thing they have to worry about is whether Sony pulls their heads from their asses and drops the price of the PS3 and starts marketing that it's a gaming system, not just a bluray player--which even then, I doubt is enough for Sony to get back on top. The Wii is a marvel to the masses, and as much as I think it's a trash system, Sony nor Microsoft have what it takes in their current systems to overtake it. Though, the best thing to come from the Wii is proof that gaming isn't about graphics, it's about gameplay. But even so, the Wii simply isn't built to harbor "deep" games. And book it, I will always poke fun at you for having a Wii.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 04:31 PM) I've enjoyed a number of comic book film adaptations - the genre seems to translate pretty well. Video game to movie, on the other hand... has anything been made in that genre that hasn't been laughable garbage? It's not the genre that transfer's well, it's never the genre. It's the storyteller/filmmaker that translate it well. Video game movies are trash right now, yes, and I'm not sure why I'm going to defend them here because I'm against it as well, but to assume that there is no wiggle room to improve is silly. I mean, for every good comic book movie, there are 10 behind it that are awful. To shut off an entire genre because nothing good has come out of it yet isn't right. Ask Stephen King why. Somewhat aside from the point, the main reason why I don't like these (comic book adaptations and video game adaptations) movies is because they carry no substance. It's not impossible to give them substance, but I'm still waiting for it. I enjoy entertainment, so I go and see most of the movies, but I don't praise them because I have yet to see one that is, in any way, special. And even if I do see one that is great, I won't praise the genre, I'll praise that one single movie. I mostly call for these movies to die because they (Hollywood) don't treat them as sotires, but rather a genre. If, instead, they picked movies that are truly good stories and films instead of what they think people want to see, the movie industry and movies, at least in terms of quality, would improve greatly.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 06:34 AM) One of the Bens that replace Ebert and Roeper said "The Wrestler" is the best year of the movie and it's not even close. With 44 reviews in it currently has a perfect 100% at rotten tomatoes. http://bventertainment.go.com/tv/buenavista/atm/ Aronofsky has a name that sounds and looks like he is a cinematic genius. Yet, he's anything but. I think the greater portion of his movies are trash. Sucks, 'cause Mickey Rourke, when he is on, he's damn good. I'll wait until The Wrestler hits DVD.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) Oh Im sorry, I didnt realize Hellboy was a Literature classic Some of the comic book movies are reboots/remakes, but a lot of the newer comic book movies havent had any screen treatment, and I look forward to those movies. Then again, I dont really kill movies like a lot of you guys do, so take it with a grain of salt. I'll kill any movie, even my favorites. P.S. Send me a PM with your e-mail. I got an early Christmas present for you.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 07:59 AM) I dont mind Comic book movies, at least its original (read: not retreads, remakes, re-imagining, sequel) material for the most part. Is that a joke?

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) Donkey Kong64 Banjo Kazooie Banjo Tooie Conkers Bad Fur Day Perfect Dark Excitebike 64 WWF No Mercy Paper Mario Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Diddy Kong Racing Castlevania Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness It would seem that the most difficult to find (for a reasonable price, atleast) are DK64, Conker and Paper Mario. If I can pick up atleast three from the local swap o rama I'll be happy. I just hope the bastards aren't charging $30+ for some of these games. I'm really pissed at myself because I remember a time several years ago I went to Gamestop and they had all these N64 games for $15 and under, and now, I'm lucky if I can find them anywhere. You can probably download an emulator for your computer and download the games for free. Then just buy a controller that'll hook up to the PC. Don't take my word for it, but I know the Playstation 1 emulator works well and those two systems came out around the same time.

QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 01:29 AM) The new fad soon to come(has already started actually, but not well) is the video game to movie. I think it's going to get better, maybe bigger than it has. Honestly, I don't want to see that happen either.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 02:17 AM) Does anyone know a place aside the flea market and online where I can buy nintendo 64 games? Preferably around the south suburbs, but I'll be willing to go to any place within Chicago. From a google search: http://www.jjgames.com/system/n64?gclid=CO...CFRlRagodv1MwSg Don't know if the site is legit.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 02:16 AM) well considering a good game can last months and a dvd is good for 2 hours, it's still a good comparison. Also consider the fact that there are very few games that will keep a person interested for months, and then it starts to make sense why he wouldn't gravitate towards a console that generally makes children's games.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 01:08 AM) There are bad wii games and good games. Same with Ps3,360 and my example: dvds. So, yes it is. Show me any video game system with a library as big as the DVD lot and I'll buy that system. Until then, the comparison is not a good one. The lot size of Wii video games isn't large enough to make a a bold claim like comparing it to DVDs, nor is it for any system... the PC included. Not only that, DVDs aren't marketed for the player. Video games are. Maybe if DVD players were played only to play specific titles, you'd have a case. But they aren't made that way.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 12:13 AM) That's like saying you won't buy a dvd player because of the thousands of bad movies made. No it's not.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) Don't do it Bob. You don't even have Resistance 2 yet. I played the first Resistance so much that I had no desire to play 2. I'm an RPG gamer at heart, and the PS3 just doesn't give me enough satisfaction there. With Warhammer out and the list of upcoming RPG's for the PC, I don't think I can go wrong. That, and I don't feel like waiting another year for FF13. I might pick up a 360 when it comes out.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) Playstation Home finally debuts today. I wish I could tell you how it is, but I keep getting server error messages. Sigh. Why can't these companies roll out massive online games without 2-3 days of problems. Is it really that hard to test before you launch? If you ask me, it sucks.
