QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:02 PM) Did I see Bobby hit 97, 98, 99 MPH on consecutive pitches? Holy Shnikes Naysayers, crow is on your plate He can't throw that hard anymore. -

The suicide watch is in effect. It's a game, people. Unless your wife is gonna leave you based on the White Sox performance, there is nothing to be embarrassed about. Have a drink, go to bed, wake up in the morning and forget about it. Nobody thinks you're a terrorist because the White Sox let out a steaming pile of s*** this series. Deep breaths.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) It's like debating if sushi tastes good or if Kerouac is the greatest American writer. How can you debate someones favorite? Poor example, Kerouac is clearly not the greatest American writer.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 13, 2008 -> 05:59 PM) People have such strong feelings because we all watch a lot of games, and therefore, we have to listen to these guys all the time. I can't believe someone wouldn't have a strong feeling either way. I don't know. I don't really care either. Sometimes I like to mute the games and I find it more enjoyable. Very few announcers add anything to the game. Hawk used to be one of them just on his antics alone, but his flavor has run out. At this point, I wouldn't mind if they ran an audio loop of "Pulp Fiction" during games. I don't need an announcer to tell me what's going on, let alone care if they get fired or not. After all, the most enjoyable experience is at the ball park where you can't hear the announcers. Now, if only I could mute the announcers but keep the sound effects...

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 05:31 AM) We hit LOTS of homeruns against bad teams We hit FEW homeruns against good teams Most good teams fit this mold. But, here's the difference with our team vs. TB, LAA, TOR, MIN, BOS: When they don't hit homeruns, they still find other ways to win games. When we don't hit homeruns, we have a difficult time winning games, to the point where it's almost impossible, due to poor fundamental play (Laying down a bunt, forcing the defense to make a play going 1st to 3rd, holding runners on 1st, hitting to the opposite fields), and lack of team speed What I think is going to happen over the next few years, if this teams approach doesn't change, is we're going to see more and more teams find it easier to shut our lineup down, due to it's one-dimensional approach. Guys like Andy Sonnanstine, amongst others who have high 3 to high 4 ERA's, that still find ways to put up 0's across the board, will probably become more common in the next few years In 2005, we hit around 200 bombs. But when we didn't hit homeruns, we still found ways to scratch out wins. You have to be honest with yourself, we are the most one-dimensional team that's currently vying for a playoff spot. One-dimensional will probably get this team one-and-done Just for the record, I've felt this way all year once we started hitting the ball and seeing how we rarely scored by "keeping the line moving", but by pure mashing. Playoff pitching staffs shut teams like that down, and I think that's what will probably happen to us. I just hope in the next few years we end up with players who can do the little things properly, to help win games when we're facing elite pitchers who simply do not give up homeruns. This is not a reactionary post because we lost 7 of 8 to Toronto, it's because i've been seeing us get absolutely shut down by these really good pitchers, because we can't scratch runs across without swinging as hard as possible The offense in 2005 was horrible. I don't know why it gets the credit it gets. The only thing that offense was ever truly good at was giving the pitching an early lead. More often than not, it wasn't a very big lead. Now if damn near every guy on the pitching staff turned out a career year again, they'd be in good shape. The Twins aren't consistently good because they scrape runs across. They're good because they can hold a lead. Same to be said for all the other good teams in baseball. I'm pointing my finger at the bullpen here.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 11:02 AM) Happy Birthday. So what did whatever her stage name was in Minny send you for your birthday. She asked for it again. Don't worry, I gave her your address.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) His defense will sorely be missed. He made outstanding plays at the right time, but his bat seriously sucks when he's hurt. I'd like to sign him back to an injury incentive deal since we have zero other options at 3B. (yes that includes you Josh Fields) Um, Juan Uribe? Or are you talking into the future?

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) honestly, it was a 3-2 pitch with 2 outs, how in the world wasn't BA rounding third way before then Because you don't send the runner 3-2, 2 outs when 1st base is open.

I used to visit this site as a news source. It turned into a gossip column. Then I came for the discussion but there are groups of elitists that took the fun out of that. At this point I avoid Pale Hose Talk after a loss. After a win, it's pretty much a field of smug remarks pointed to the negative posters of yesterday's loss. The place feels more like a game of tug of war than it does a community. It's like everyone forgot the entertainment value behind baseball. Matter of fact, I've watched less White Sox games this season as a result of this board. I've cared less. Perhaps we can blame this on a World Series Championship? Nobody is humble anymore?

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 07:49 AM) LOL. Keep that hope alive Bob One day, you will get your wish and vengeance will fall upon the Wii!!!!!!! *dramatic organ music* Haha. I promise you, though, in the long run, the PS3 will beat out both the Wii and 360. The PS3 is a horse. Next year there is a game coming out called MAG, it's a 250 player MMO FPS. Now if only they make an MMO RPG... There are some awesome games coming out in the next few months. Socom, COD 5, End War, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Fallout 3, Resistance 2, Prince of Persia, Tiger Woods, Far Cry 2. They're not all exclusive (I think Socom and Resistance are the only two), but I'm excited to get my game on.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) Really? I actually bought one yesterday. Where have you heard that from? I bought the 60 because of the emotion engine so I can play my PS2 games with no problems since my PS2 sucks. The 20's don't even have wifi, flash card readers or PS3 emulation... I called in Sony Support to ask about the HD once, and they started out with all the basics questions. "What model do you have?" ... "You're having problems with the 20 gig? Really? We NEVER get calls about that model." The big difference between the two models was the blu ray drive. The 60 gig apparently had a lot of problems with it somewhere. The 20 gig model is backwards compatible as well. It's either the 40 or 80 gig (or both?) that aren't. There's also a little linksys thing you can buy to make the 20 gig wireless. I have it, it works great. Finding the 20 gig these days, though, is not easy.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) You guys wanna hear my crappy PS3 story? I went to buy one the other day used and the guy tried to ripping me off by selling me a 40GB unit when he said it was a 60 like I wouldn't know how to tell... I'd stay away from the 60 gig models if I were you. Those are the cheapest build and have the most problems. If you can find a 20 gig model anywhere, jump on it and replace the HD.
