  1. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 01:21 AM) Go to Edwardo's for pizza. Ugh. No.
  2. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 08:53 AM) Gotta be something close to the Loop / Downtown though because that's where I'm staying. Don't limit your boundries to the loop would be my suggestion. You're in for a terribly boring time if you do that. Take the train to get wherever you need to get. It's cheap and nearly impossible to get lost on.
  3. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) 2. I know people think Beane "gave away" Harden to the Cubs, but it was a solid package, the Cubs were just deep enough to be able to trade pieces that didn't hurt their club. How does that statement support Beane's move? "It was a solid package"??? Whether the Cubs were deep enough or not to make the trade has nothing to do with what Beane got back, at least in the context you put it in.
  4. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 11:29 PM) Bob....you're gonna have to use the "green" more....people on here are taking you literally... At least you know I'm kidding.
  5. This is the first time I've ever seen the Sox lose two games in a row, too.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) Or how about we just trade for Mark Ellis, and then dump Konerko on someone? Our lineup wasnt missing much without him, and our defense really improved. Kong wont get us much back, and really, who cares. He isnt giving us much value right now, and he could be a nice salary dump. Trade for Ellis. Trade off Konerko. Alexei moves to CF, Swisher to 1B. Just improved your defense and payroll, and only a slight drop off in offense really since Konerko has sucked. So, putting Alexei in CF improves the team defense? Well I'll be damned. All this time I thought the defense was stronger because Swisher and Anderson were consistently being run out to 1B/CF... Nothing out there leads me to believe Alexei can play a better CF than Swisher, especially when I think back to the games he's already played out there. If the Sox want to try and unload Konerko, which won't happen given his 10/5 rights, they'd best look to find a center fielder. Why disrupt an already defensively superior infield and go moving around what looks to be a damn good prospect? One that most likely will shift over to SS next year? Now, if you told me Ellis would play 2B for the next few years for the Sox, I might say something different. But, he wouldn't.
  7. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) Sometimes it isnt lack of originality on the parents part as much as it is honoring other family members, carrying on a first name in the family, etc. Besides, i have seen some truly horrid "original" names. Im glad my parents didnt mess around and start pasting letters together or combining their own first names. ^^^
  8. This questions is premature, yes. If the playoffs started tomorrow, I'd probably move Floyd to the pen. But since they don't, I think we'll see a lot different answers if the Sox are in position. Neither Danks or Floyd has 200 IP under their belt for a single season. If anyone expects both of those pitchers to keep up their current pace for 3 more months, they've fallen off their rocker. Realistically, I think it'll go Vaz, Buehrle, Contreras and shuffle Floyd/Danks for match ups.
  9. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 07:50 AM) Next time you should wear more hair gel. Just sayin Yeah? Stay a few extra minutes under the tanning bed... looking a little pale.
  10. He'll throw a splitter from the drop down.
  11. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) Ok. Image from last chat crew meeting at Bourbon Street. I don't even need to say...
  12. He's been my favorite player through the years. One of the most entertaining players I have ever seen. Gotta love when he swings and falls down. Or his odd style of fielding, sweeping is hands across the ball. His hand cannon. 2005.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 08:56 AM) That's not really the point of the stat though. The Sox score a disproportionate amount of runs via the home run, and they are hard pressed to do it any other way. In fact, in games where they're hitting home runs, they're probably getting a couple of them hit "softer for a double off the wall" too because they're exploding on some poor pitcher. But when they're not hitting home runs they're just not hitting, period (see: numerous shutouts this year) which probably means they're facing a lefty with something resembling an off-speed pitch. The end result is a lot of runs, but maddening inconsistency. Hell, if I could throw with my left hand with a curveball and a changeup, even I could get a CG SO and strike out 12 against them, I can barely throw 60 mph with that hand. lol. That's a stat worth figuring out -- which I won't do -- how many runs have scored via the homer? If it is anything under 2/3rd's, I'll be surprised.
  14. But they don't have the style of 2005. Willie Harris is missing.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) She might not be "uber-hot" but you guys are full of s*** if you're telling me you wouldn't tap that. And the truth comes out. I'd have a lot of questions for her and her friend about facial reconstruction surgery. Her and that girl to the right look like plastic dolls.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 02:30 AM) We NEED to sweep this team. Lose tonight and this series was a failure. How many times have we taken the first two games of a series against these guys only to take a dump on ourselves the third game? I'm sick of that s***. They've swept us twice the last two years. It's time to repay them. Forget that 2/3 s***. I believe they will. That sweep at Wrigley was a good slap in the face. A sidenote: Is Ozzie coming out to talk to pitchers because of Cooper's injury? Or is he just taking more charge?
  17. I didn't see the game; is that real? The shot is held so long that it looks fake. Probably should result in a suspension just for the sheer fact that it was seen coast to coast.
  18. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 07:16 AM) Link? Are you saying that OC could just take any song and make a soundtrack without compensating the artist? It was never printed by news outlets that I'm aware of, but I can go digging through their message board to find the post if you'd like. (They're somewhat active posters there.)
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) I agree Jimbos sucks. Overpriced cans of beer and plastic cups. With that said, Barleycorn knows they cant make much money in that location anyway. And Puffers/Mitchells is waaay better. Puffers is a damn good bar. Jimbo's is a dump, but I'd sooner go there than a Cubs bar.
  20. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) When CSI plays a Who song, they pay. Why shouldn't a radio station? When a movie uses a song, they pay, why not a radio station? Not always true. A specific example I can bring up is the OC played a Kings of Convenience song, then put it on their soundtrack in record stores, and didn't as little as let the band members of the Kings of Convenience know. They were outraged, but they didn't get compensated.
  21. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 09:52 AM) That's what I was thinking when I read the article. It does seem fair to me. Jim's post makes a lot of sense until you start to think about people making millions off your work and you getting zero, that just doesn't make sense to me either. If the industry allows the free broadcast ~and~ the free downloading and sharing, how are the artist making a living? They make money from live gigs. Very few artists hit it big from their record sales. The biggest tell of this was when "Oink" got shut down. You had artists come out and admit they were members of the site, then scream bulls***. Most bands/artists are lucky to make enough out of album royalties to pay their light bill. Most of the bands complaining about piracy already have stuffed pockets, and they just want more. And yet, there are a number of bands that do make good money from album sales, not supporting the RIAA. Radiohead gave their last album away for free, for instance. The RIAA knows they have a lot to lose, and they do, but music doesn't.
  22. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) Except with Thome gone, Cabrera almost a lock to leave, Uribe taking a hike, and all the starters locked in for next season, there is going to be more than 25 million coming off the books, at least in that scenario. Someone else will be brought in. Pretty much what I want is exactly what you said. I want one of those hitters from the 3-4-5 (preferrably two) to open up flexibility to bring in new life. What I agreed with earlier is the immediate plan that is opened up. Essentially, the emergency plan. I'd rather play crap players that can be easily moved, demoted or released in case an option opens up where they can bring in an "answer."
  23. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) What does it matter if Swisher hits less than .840/20 as a CF or a 1B? It's not like Kenny's going to replace Thome with Pujols or Ryan Howard. This would be beneficial defensively... JD to DH Quentin to RF Paulie stays at 1B Swisher to LF Anderson, Owens, Wise, and whoever else battle it out for CF ^^^
