QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) My plan for this was to not buy the single player games, but buy the games I really like (like The Show or Madden) or were online-heavy. I hope they'll have 3.56 figured out sometime soon. It shouldn't be too hard. The hack itself is hardware oriented. yeah man the guys that release these hacks are geniuses, specifically geohot who also hacks the iphone 4, he usually has the new jailbreaks out in a very timely manner.. whenever a new update is released its usually nothing more than a minor nuisance.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) Sony just released the 3.56 update. It currently disables homebrew. I had made my CFW file and then read about it. Then I just deleted the CFW file and decided to save the $70 i was going to use on a 1 TB external HDD. I'll wait until they have 3.56 figured out I guess. oh jeez this is just like the iphone 4, wait a couple weeks for the new jailbreak to come out and dont update.. thankfully im playing deadspace 2 and dont need to sign on to the PSN for multiplayer at the moment..

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) and is it safe/easy to use? its safe to use right now id imagine, im using it with no problems and enjoying the heck out of it.. now whether or not sony will later be able to ban custom firmware users from PSN is a topic i dont know anything about yet, im having way too much fun to find out. i went to the tiger direct store in chicago and bought a 500 GB hard drive and installed it in my ps3 so now i can backup all the games my evil pirate heart desires

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) Anyone else try Custom Firmware on their own PS3? Tried it for the simple fact that I can now backup my games. backup your game as in, put the entire game on your ps3 hard drive and play? or burn the game to a disc and play the burnt copy on the ps3? Edit: Nevermind, got my answer... *downloads firmware and backup manager then runs to blockbuster*

Bears versus Packers game thread
flippedoutpunk replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
i saw when cutler was sitting next to hanie.. but if you went by the short clip, it looked like cutler was staring into the distance as hanie was cramming for his math final. the guys i was with were joking that Cutler looked like he just tossed the playbook on hanies lap and said "here ya go kid, dont get killed out there". obviously we were joking though dont take it too literally. -

hanie looked good out there. cutler seems to struggle against the pack, no one could predict the outcome had he stayed healthy.. in his 5 games vs the packers as Bears QB he has 4 TDs with 10 interceptions. a big chunk of those into's being from that horrible first regular season game as a bear. -
correct me if im wrong but from my understanding of rumors heard 'round tech web sites, apple will be releasing a new, 4G-capable iphone this coming summer. So verizon is going to get a bunch of people to buy into their iphone 4 in february, only to have apple release a newer model only a couple months later? i know its only a rumor at this point but if it proves to be true i would be really upset with my 2 year obligation to this already outdated phone if i were switch to verizon right away.

sounds like a way to keep lesnar active for 2011. i dont see how lesnar could be a coach when he is still really learning mma himself.. im no nostradamus but lesnar doesnt like the standup game and JDS is a standup fighter, i dont see that fight lasting very long in the end unless lesnar trains with freddie roach from now until the fight

Randy Moller, the Florida Panthers guy.. I absolutely love him, he says random pop-culture quotes whenever the panthers score.. Very refreshing Randy Moller Goal Calls

i think im going to wait until a 4G compatible iphone comes out before deciding to make any kind of carrier switch at this time.

Has anyone heard whether Verizon will be offering an unlimited data plan? I dont want to lose the one i have with at&t if verizon doesn't offer it.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jan 10, 2011 -> 11:56 PM) I also recently got the kinect and it would seem to be aimed more for family/kids.. although it is pretty cool.. 6 ft seems about right for where you need to be from the sensor, maybe slightly further.. Are you joining my hardcore kinect volleyball league or what?!
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 10, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) Anyone got the Kinnect yet? Is it worth it? it depends on what you're looking to get out of it. I bought it when it first came out and used the heck out of it for about 2 weeks.. Now i seem to only use it when i have friends or family over. Also the first thing you will need to even run the thing is at least 6 feet of space between you and the kinect camera. I have a pretty big sized living room from most that ive seen and even I have to move the couch out of the way to create more space between me and the kinect camera on certain games.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) Custom firmware now possible on PS3 http://kotaku.com/5725088/you-can-now-inst...om-ps3-firmware It's the PSP all over again, hopefully with less piracy and hackers. nice.. when the firmware that allows backup discs to be played gets released i will be one happy pirate... i mean camper

The dealbreaker for me choosing what system i purchase more games for is definitely the cross game party chat. I personally use that feature about 95% of the time i sign on to xbox live. Its also very very nice to be able to jam with my ipod through the xbox music player.

has anybody read up on the whole thing with the hackers compromising the PS3's security? I dont know much about it but from what ive heard soon people will be able to burn signed backups of PS3 games and use them on any PS3 system without the need for any mod chip at all. just plop the burned copy into anyones PS3 and play away. And apparently there is nothing Sony can do about it without having to change the entire hardware of the PS3. That sounds good to me, i love paying $5 for video games.. charging 65 bucks a game is almost as much a robbery as a mechanic charging a person with no vehicle know-how $600 to replace an alternator.. QUOTE (T R U @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) haha the other day we got into a game against a full team of noobs and we were all going like 50-2 and for some reason they kept staying so we got to play games like that for about 4-5 games in a row.. Hey, that was the most fun I've ever had playing Black Ops. And to whoever asked about purchasing ps3 with move or xbox with kinect, i own both and my two cents are that I think the kinect has more of a "cool" factor since there are no controllers and the camera is really accurate.. But so far it looks like it will only play nice with games that are "On rails", whereas the PS3 move will actually feature "real" games (Killzone 3 comes to mind). Its all about what you're looking to get out of these movement type games. I honestly only play kinect when my little brother is over, or when T R U is at work and neglecting our Black Ops partnership. Then you have to think about the whole price for xbox live as opposed to the no charge PSN, if you think that you will get into online gaming with your system thats definitely something to consider. The only real difference I see personally between my xbox and my PS3 are: PS3 has Blu-ray (Sometimes a game is just too large to fit on one DVD and requires an extra install disc for xbox, not really a nuisance at all though once the game is installed) PS3 can connect 4+ controllers to the system at one time (Xbox only 4 at maximum) Xbox allows you to play custom soundtracks for any game at absolutely any time (PS3 only allows it for certain games, and that doesnt happen very often at all) Xbox allows cross game party chat (Truly the only difference i see between Xbox live and PSN, enough to justify about 50 bucks a year? You decide) Again these are all just my 2 cents *Puts on flame suit and ducks down*

finally finished downloading the DC Universe Online Beta for PS3 using my Playstation Plus membership.. so far its pretty fun, basically World of Warcraft but with DC Superheroes and villains instead of elves n crap like that. I hear its going to be a 15 dollar a month subscription to play so im not quite sure i would play enough hours of the game in order to justify the price. It comes out in a week and if the beta says anything at this point, the latest update shows some nasty glitches that i really hope will not be in the final build.

dont listen to T R U.. he just wants more "Christmas n00bs" to join the black ops community so he can feast on your souls and inflate his stats even more.

for anyone who may have doled out the dough for playstation plus.. is the option to initiate party chats finally available like they said it would be? or are they still working on it.. the reason i ask is because the inability to chat with my friends while playing different titles on ps3 is one of the two big reasons why i prefer games on my xbox (that and the inability to play whatever is on my ipod through the xmb during the game). Thanks!
