  1. Maybe we get to see Shingo's new pitch unvieled here?
  2. Just wanted to let everyone know that is interested, you can email Megan McKenna at mmckenna [at] chisox [d0t] com and ask to distribute pocket season schedules for the Sox..being as how I don't live in Chicago, this worked easily for me..she responded to my email within an hour and asked how many I'd like..it may not work as well for some of you guys in Chicago..but I'll leave them at every Cub/Indian bar I can find down here! This was posted on the whitesox.com official page, btw.
  3. I'd like to join a Soxtalk league...head to head, daily, with a live draft would be the best..I've never done a Soxtalk league, but I've been doing fantasy baseball, basketball, and football on Yahoo for over 5 years now..so if yet another commish is needed, I'd be glad to help.
  4. Man those three are some scary teams..lol.. I'll take my chances though..can't get much worse!
  5. Thanks for the info..I wouldn't mind getting involved in something like that, maybe Cleveland if nobody else has..
  6. Could someone explain the Simleague to a noob?
  7. QUOTE(olp_nch @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 04:46 AM) hey, im new on here... Even with the HUGE loss of Maggs in RF, I think this will be a much better team. I'm very happy with getting rid of "stone hands" Lee, and a big upgrade to the pen. If we can get AJP, we will be a very solid team...still neading a middle infielder. Problem: loudmouth AJP vs. loudmouth Everett :finger Flyer: I want Loaiza. Dead arm and all.... he could come at almost no cost. I say just get him at a minor league contract (no offers yet?) and see if he can fill long relief, or step in as an ALT #5 starter. How the hell can you call Lee 'stone hands'? You do realize he had no errors last year, right? :headshake
  8. QUOTE(HAWKisGOD @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) That pitching staff? A rotation that is top 3 in the AL and a bullpen which maybe the best in the entire MLB is being knocked by a clear cut cubs fan that still doesnt have a decent arm in its bullpen? That makes me laugh. Yeah, the one thing I'm excited MOST about this year is our pitching...can't wait to see our guys light it up and make people like this jackass eat their words.
  9. Juan Uribe sucks? It'd be nice to get a solid offensive catcher, and perhaps a bullpen arm..but in reality, this team can win. There's no doubt in my mind that if we made no more trades, we have the talent to win. Whether we utilize that talent or not is another story.
  10. Second half looks like it will be fun. Minnesota has only played 19 games against a .500+ record..take away the games against us, and they've only played 9 games...can't wait until they're 5+ games back.
  11. Hmm..hopefully it will be that simple..it'd be nice.
  12. I'm probably going to my first Knights game on Friday night, as they are coming to Norfolk to play our Tides. Anyone know a website that shows probable pitchers? I'd like to know who is going to be pitching..also, who should I watch closely? And why the hell is someone named Michael Moore(age 104, born 1/1/1900) listed on their roster page? http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...r.aspx?team=302 Thanks for the replies!
  13. I am thinking of getting the Sony PS2 adapter so that I can play some of the online sports games..has anyone successfully set one up before? I currently have a linux box dual homed with the cable modem connected directly to it, with a few windows machines on the network as well, with the linux box forwarding anything to them. I have a 5 port hub connecting it all. If I just hook the PS2 network adapter up to the hub, will it work? Thanks for anyone's help!
  14. It's still not fair to Paulie..who has had an INCREDIBLE first half and second half of last year..but it's moot because I don't think Paulie would get voted in anyway.
  15. Really wishing I was closer than 500+ miles away from this one.. GO SOX! :fthecubs :fyou
  16. If he plays the minimum number of games as a SS in the year he gets voted, why not? Thomas is listed as a DH on that website, yes..but Burke is listed as a catcher, and I swear I saw him play outfield the other day. Just pointing out that those things aren't set in stone as the be all end all of what positions people play. Since there is no voting allowed for the DH in the ASG, I see no reason why DH's shouldn't be able to be voted under their "other" position, if they have one.
  17. He is a first baseman. He's played more games at first than at DH in his career, and he has played some games at first this season, even. Your arguement about being judged by the season and not the career is moot, however. Exhibit A: Nomar.
  18. In his career, Frank has played 972 games at 1B with 3485 AB's, getting a .337 avg..and he's played 924 games as a DH with 3319 AB's, getting a .281 avg..he's done his time as a 1B and is listed as a DH/1B in the same way that Harris is a CF/2B and Juan is a 2B/SS. It's entirely possible that Frank could represent as a 1B in the ASG.
  19. He may have had a bad series against the Tribe, but I can count at least twice where he flied out DEEP to the warning track and thought he got all of it..he's still hitting the ball, just not getting the breaks.
  20. After watching yesterdays Rockies Orioles game, I would rather have Koch than Chacon..he walked 3 batters and then gave up a granny to Brian Roberts to blow the save, and then gave up ANOTHER walk. No thanks.
  21. Marte pitched his ass off. He was completely in command for the two innings he pitched. I know we lost, but I felt a need to start a positive thread about the game.
  22. Wow thanks everyone! Too bad we had to lose on my birthday...but let's sweep the Expos!
