  1. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) I generally dont really look that much at football recruiting until closer to signing day. And alot of Bowden's problems this year come from the classic FSU problem: QB's. Outside of Brad Johnson and Charlie Ward, FSU just always has had problems getting consistent play from the QB, regardless of how highly touted they are. Recently I think that is mostly DD's fault. Look at his diasasters: Drew Weatherford...he had so much potential, but regessed from last season. Chris Rix Wyatt Sexton I would love to see Norm Chow come in here, coach the qbs, and become the OC. That would solve a lot of the problems. The other major problem this season: Defensive injuries. The list is huge.
  2. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) WTF are you talking about words in your mouth? I am sorry. You said at the top that you don't understand my Bobby hate and then you immediately brought up the racism topic. I misunderstood. I did read your post, and that is what I got out of it. I still think Bobby needs to make changes. I don't care if he keeps his job because he doesn't do much anyways. However, he needs to take the JoePa route and make staff changes. Jeff Bowden, DD, and all the other offensive coaches suck. Wetherell won't fire Bobby, I want him on the hot seat though so changes will be made below him. Even JoePa made changes before his good year. As far as the recruiting pipeline: have you seen our class this year?
  3. FSU has an exhibition game tonight against Spring Hill College. I'm looking forward to seeing the run and gun offense Coach Hamilton has been hyping. Then I get to see the Bulls destroy the Heat after. ...I hope...
  4. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) Chimpy I just dont get your Bowden hate. As for racism, Bowden has had Charlie Ward as his Qb and seemed to have no problem with it. Bowden built FSU, as FSU has been my favorite team outside of the Big 10 for almost 20 years now, mainly because of my hate for UF and Miami, I just dont understand how you can be so against him. Without Bowden, FSU would not be a national powerhouse. He should get to leave on his own terms, regardless of what happens, because he is that program. I never said I thought it was racism, I just said anything is possible. There was talk about it going around campus. Please don't put words in my mouth. I just don't get why he should be able to bring down this program. He is the greatest coach of all time. I even look up to him. He is a god here. However, his stuborness of keeping his idiot son in position of power will be the downfall of him. I want this team to win now. Is that too much to ask? I know it's selfish, but people on the campus feel the exact same way. We want results now. I know Bobby has not been coaching for the last how many years, he is more so a figurehead. However, he needs to change his coaching staff and get the right guys in here. It's pretty sad when a team has all this talent and a horrible record. Coaches around the country must be laughing at FSU. Doak is no longer somewhere people are afraid to play at. People just think it's another win when they beat FSU. The prestige keeps going down. As far as him leaving on his own terms: tell the Boosters that. I sure as hell wouldn't give a million a year to support a s*** team. That's acting like a Cub fan. Edit: I just read this and I would be in favor. I would be extremely happy if Bobby would just make some coaching changes. John Bunting's firing at North Carolina has put the Tar Heels at the head of the Chow line. And although that's an enviable place to be, two other teams - perhaps you've heard of them: Miami and Florida State - are bearing down. Wetherell, who played for Bowden at FSU in the 1960s when Bowden was an assistant, is tied to the man he reveres. He won't fire him, and Bowden knows it. But at some point, he'll have to find a way to allow Bowden to retire with the class and dignity he deserves. That way is bringing Chow in to run the offense, get FSU back to a BCS game and allow Bowden to gracefully step away. Then the wait - for Chow and FSU fans - will be worth it. © 2006 The Sporting News
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) I don't get why they ever started Weatherford over him. At all. Many down here feel the same. There was actually some talk about a little bit of racism coming into play. I don't know how much water that holds, but anythings possible with the Old Man. It's nice knowing that a 5*, #1 dual-threat QB will finally get a shot. I give him a lot of credit for sticking with it this far and not transferring.
  6. Xavier Lee to start Saturday. This brings some optimism to a lost season.
  7. Haha, I saw that and I had to go back and put his first name so people knew I wasn't just slamming someone.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) In general, a player would want to go to a U of I for two reasons. One, to play right away and two, to be a part of turning something around. The big fish in the little pond theory. I am not sure about FSU's WR depth, but it seems at ND, he could get immediate playing time, with them losing both Samardzjia and McKnight. this year. So that would negate one of the advantages U of I might have, I would think. Depth sucks here. We have Chris Davis who will be gone, D'Cody f**g, and Greg Carr. f**g and Carr both have bad hands and are not guarenteed anything. Benn said he could start right away and he likes that. I just think it's crazy Zook can recruit that well. I was talking with Willie and we both agree he is just bringing in talent for the next coach.
  9. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Benn/McCray have ILL in top 2. Go get 'em Zooker. I just fail to see why you would want to go to UofI over FSU, ND, UF, USC, and other schools. It just makes no sense to me why you would want to go to such a sucky school. I know FSU sucks really hard, but holy crap...UofI? D'lo even said that UofI is in a rebuilding stage and he likes that over UF who is already there? I can understand wanting playing time, but UF is so much closer to winning championships than UofI will ever be in the next four years.
  10. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) Can you post a link to the article that says this, even if it is an insider article and just the headline? I checked the Maryland site up and down and couldn't find an article about Benn cutting ND. In the article that you posted below it certainly doesn't say that ND is out of it(not sure if that is the article that you are refering too). I do think that FSU and UI are the favorites at this point, but I haven't read anything that says that he has completely cut ND out of the picture. It would be a staggering change of events though. Most thought that he was 95% ND earlier this summer. Some even considered him a silent to ND, so him completely cutting them out at this point would be big news. Yeah, I'm a little shocked by that news. I would have thought he cut off Maryland if anyone.
  11. Lemont won 47-0 and faces Marian in the next round.
  12. I loved Man Soo. He'd always put a smile on my face before the game started. Hell, even sometimes when the game was going on. But I cant blame him for trying to get his name out there for a head coach position.
  13. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 28, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) Is anyone hearing anything about Noel Devine? I'm not getting much info from Rivals other than he is considering several schools equally. All I've heard is academic eligibility questions. FSU has been supporting him trying to get his grades up for a while now. I don't know about other schools. I don't really think of him even committing though because of the academics.
  14. FSU with 9 votes! Our RPI should be better than previous years; 3 games in a row against top 10 teams: Wisconsin, Pitt, Florida. Al Thorton pre-season ACC Player of the Year runner up!
  15. If there is a second island, it makes sense how the others little crew got around Jin and Sayid and straight onto the boat.
  16. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) The one thing that might hurt FSU is Bobby Bowden. He's been the belle of the ball for a long time, but one not-so-good season and the boosters are on his arse to get out. He's done so much for that program, he should be able to decide when he wants to leave (see: Joe Paterno). Anyway, if there is any doubt that Bowden may not be there by the time Benn gets there or within his first year or two, that might sway him towards ND or UofI. I don't care what he did for 30 years. Yes, he is one of the greatest coaches of all time, but why should he be allowed to run this program into the ground too. Last year sucked (it was BS we made a BCS game), this year sucks, and I'm sure the rest of the years are going to suck. Have you seen our current commitment list? Five 3*s and only 2 4*s. Yep, Bobby is doing a great thing for recruiting. Plus, if I was a booster I would not donate any money because the coaches suck and the product sucks. Coaches around the NCAA laugh at FSU because we have an extreme amount of tallent, but the coaches aren't doing anything with it. Bobby is a figurehead, he does not do much in his current role. The reason he needs to quit is his son, Jeff Bowden. Even JoPa made changes before the miracle season last year, including breaking some loyalties. I don't want a grace period to be the downfall of my college football experience. I want results now. f*** being in last place of the f***ing horrible ACC. s***, don't even think about me, think about these f***ing kids who deserve better than this. Can we really blame Chris Rix now?
  17. Really really good episode today; Answered a lot, but also created more questions.
  18. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Oct 25, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) I did't mean to call you out, but everyone throws around the word "source" these days. If you believe Farrell on Rivals, he is saying that Benn is pretty much down to FSU and UI. Benn looks like a classic case of a momentum recruit(similar to a high scoring game in which the team with the ball last wins); ie the school with the most momentum is in the lead(ND led early, UI took the lead after his visit, and now it appears that FSU has a slight lead). This is what happened with Gordon, IU made up so much ground in such a little amount of time that the momentum pushed he to change his commitment. Based on the info that I am hearing from insiders don't be surprised if he picks FSU. They have the combination that he is looking for: good football program/tradition, developing NFL receivers, instant PT, warm weather, diverse community, and good social life. In other news, as expected, top rated OT Miller decides to stay close to home and play for Colorado over ND. It's all good. I came off to agressive and I shouldn't have. It's hard to tell with recruits though. They change their minds a lot, but who can blame them because they're still young and making a decision that can change their lives forever. I hope we get Benn, he reminds me a lot of another Anquan Boldin.
  19. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) I am not sure that I trust a random paragraph relying on an unnamed source. It could simple be an UI fans wishful thinking. According to the most recent insider article, after Benn's visit to FSU(including quotes directly from Benn), he said that all three schools are dead even and that there are no favorites at this point. Take it with a grain of salt if you want, but I trust quotes from Benn over some random source. I really think that it will still come down to UI or ND though, FSU's chances are at their highest right now after his visit, so the longer it goes the less likely he will pick FSU IMO. Here are my sources: a writer for Warchant and the national Rivals site. The article did say the three were even, but the two said differently in their posts. Don't forget that Benn sees FSU again this weekend. I know you didn't say this, but it can't truly be about current performance if UofI is in it. All I know is he is graduating early and is enrolling this spring. He'd be a starter come fall.
  20. Living in Florida and knowing what it's like at UofI and Illinois as a state, I can truly appreciate Zooks recruiting. He's getting all these top players from Florida to have UofI in the top 5. I can't understand as the team has lost to Ohio and a d2a school, but damn...he's doing something right there. I dont know if you guys heard, but D'Lo McCray has you guys in the top 3 with Ole Miss and UF (i think he's a Ole Miss lean though). To Zook's recruiting... I could only wish to see what Norm Chow could do at FSU in terms of offense and recruiting...too bad I'll never see though, because Bobby is a stuborn S.O.B. who thinks this team is really good right now.
  21. http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=141330 Please, please, please Bobby retire. Norm Chow is too good to pass up for a team with this much talent. Please Bobby! Speaking of Bobby, he thinks the program is fine right now. 4-3 with wins over Duke, Miami, Troy, and Rice, and no ACC home wins. He thinks we're alright.....No Bobby, you're wrong; we suck.
  22. 85% sure Benn is going to UofI next year. Update: According to a source, Benn has been more of an Illini lean than ND, and it's been that way since his visit. The article I just read makes Benn think that he could see playing time right away at FSU and he likes that. He said that we don't have any depth at WR and he would fit in to give Drew someone to throw to. I still think he's going to UofI though.
  23. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) Google image search: visible here (article from earlier in the season) http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/wcStory?conte...p;storyNumber=6 visible here (july start) http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...sp&c_id=mlb There are smaller ones from earlier in the season that I see it aswell, but I have good vision, and some may think it's too small to judge Those look like identical pictures.
